You can use 'Healing Word' (Shadowheart, bonus action) on downed characters, so that you don't have to use the 'Help' action. You can also 'Throw' healing potion at people (downed or not). 'Burning Hands' doesn't need an enemy target, you choose the direction of the cone on the ground. Enemies that will get damaged have a different red circle on the ground around them. You could have damaged at least 3 enemies with it when they were all bunched up around Gale^^ Every video you're getting better and better ! You're doing great ! 😀
Minthara go WOMP WOMP 😲 Then Astarion has a little nibble on Gale 😂 Shadowheart's strongest attack is guiding bolt, it does damage and a debuff. Astarion's best attack is hiding and sneak attacking with his bow. I would go to camp and swap Gale out for Lae'zel (or Karlach) before continuing with this though. You have two squishy mages and no tank. That was actually a really good effort, you actually downed MInthara! If you had killed the eye first you would have won no problem. So put scrying eyes on the "these be bad" list with war drums 🤣
I don’t know how to kill that stupid eye tho! 😭 I’m gonna Google it next time I play, hehehehe. I would’ve made it without that eye. 😤 Good idea adding the horny tank to the team, that’ll definitely help alot! And thanks for the always useful tips. ❤️
You've met Volo! I met him in Nashkel, and gradually came to know him through the Archmage Elminster's writings. Elminster. famously critiqued Volo's writings, and described him as a vainglorious buffoon. We never knew Volo"s history as a chaotic good sorceror, but his sucking up to Elminster became super creepy. Elminster was famous for thinking that a true servant of Mystra should not need to use magic to solve problems,
Femke: "I'm gonna let this enemy live." Me, pulling down my surgical mask: "...but why?" Femke: "Oh, wait, she's a goblin. Then she must die!" Me: "Strong start as always!" 😅
The game has ALOT of mechanics so it can be overwhelming. Here's some unsolicited advice: 1. Quest says kill leaders, but you could actually side with Minthara if you wished. The game is pretty free-form. 2. Not always a good idea to keep everyone grouped together in combat because of Area of Effect spells. 3. When you were trading you were in "Barter" tab which haggles. Switch to "trade" for a more straight-forward buy/sell. 4. You CAN hit the Scrying eye, you only missed on your first attempt. 5. If you know you will fight, you can switch characters (mid-dialogue too) and place people around the room in strategic positions and THEN start the battle. Try placing Astarion up higher and use his sneak attack to start the battle. 6. You CAN push enemies off bridges, cliffs, etc. Really enjoying your playthrough!! ♥
Some things you may only now be realizing: In BG3 you usually start conversations with your main, and your main is a Sorcerer, a squishy magic user. If fact most primary magic users in D&D are squishy, at least in the early levels. There are ways to mitigate this to some degree later with gear and spells. But this puts you in the awkward situation of frequently starting fights with your squishy Sorc. in melee range. Get used to using the Disengage action to remove yourself from melee as quickly as possible. Try not to use spell slots to heal, they are too limited and too important for that, use them for damage and crowd control. Use potions to heal whenever possible, and class features like a fighters Second Wind. Only use spell heals when absolutely necessary. Shadowheart is actually a much better damage dealer than healer early, Guiding Bolt and Inflict Wounds are very strong and her AC is actually quite good early. One note here: Her Fire Bolt is a trick, its a wizard spell she is not proficient with, and as such it is a bad spell for her, Use Sacred Flame instead. Yes she misses a lot, the default build from Larian is on purpose not optimized well. Re-spec her at Withers and dump all her INT into WIS. She only needs WIS and DEX, everything else can be 8 or 10 as you prefer (although I prefer 12 STR too so she can jump effectively, but that can wait). Also change her from Trickery domain, which is a mediocre domain, into one of the domains that is more useful: Light, Life, or Tempest. All of those grant her heavy armor proficiency to boot. A Rogue's reason for being is to use Sneak Attack. Sneak Attack requires you to have Advantage against a target first. You gain Advantage in several different ways: you have an ally in melee range of the target; your Rogues Bonus Action Hide (not the regular Action Hide that all chars get), it needs to succeed to gain the Advantage so positioning is important, stay out of line of sight and bright light; there are spells and conditions that trigger Advantage like the Prone condition. And don't forget about using Poison and conditions on your arrows! They are free extra damage, even though many things are poison resistant. You do have to watch the AOE on some of the arrows though. Use your Scrolls and Potions! Use Speed to give you more attacks per round, use Scrolls for spellcasting when you run out of Spell Slots. Anyone can use Scrolls, not just your magic users, so keep a rough mental inventory of what you have so you can apply them when needed by whomever is best positioned to do so. You can use a scroll from anyones inventory with the shared inventory system, you do not have to use an action to transfer it to your character first. As long as you have an action to spend, you can use Tab, then right click and Use/Cast direct from whichever inventory the scroll/potion is in. Mobility is key in this game, control the positioning and you have a better shot at controlling the fights outcome. Having two full MU's with you in the early game is rough, it puts you at a real disadvantage from a HP/AC and dpm perspective. Later on it's less so as you gain more gear and better spells. Consider going heavier in melee with your main a Sorcerer until level 5+ -ish. But it can be done, it just requires very precise skill and good and deep knowledge of character strengths and weaknesses. As always, if this is too much meta-gaming, speak up and I will stop. Have fun!
And as always from me: I love your passion for the game and for helping me have the best experience. 🤗 I really do appreciate all the effort you’re putting into these comments. I see you and appreciate you! Thank you so much!
31:39 The game tries to tell you What are the situations and modifiers that result in your chance of success. In that case, you had advantage on the roll, which made it easier, but she also has high defence, which lowers your chances of hitting her. There are tons more modifiers, and thankfully it's a video game, so it calculates them all automatically XD
Wow, I've never gotten out of that Dror Ragzlin encounter without a fight. Nicely done! I always try casting the spell for him, and it always ends badly. I wonder if some of his minions wander off afterwards. Yes, the drums are bad, very bad. You need to destroy them fast before attacking anything else. Also, thunderwave can yeet a bunch of them into the spider pit, but it's close range only. When you're in the barter window you have to hit balance offer when you're buying AND selling 🤣
@@Duskwind_ After you've killed him one of the more traditional ways, it's always fun to go back and use Barrelmancy on him. Actually this should be used anytime it's possible, if not just for the chuckle factor. But do the fights trad. first, you learn more that way. But Barrelmancy for the win in all cases!
Shadowheart's Firebolt is a spell she gets from her race, and unfortunately for her and you, its success rate is based on intelligence. You can either respec her to have a bit more intelligence (a wizard or Eldritch Knight?), or just forget that spell and use the stuff she's good at (Sacred Flame, which uses wisdom as its modifier). Fun stream, do more!
Hehe, in my second playthrough I made a rogue and sneakily destroyed every single war drum before fighting any group of goblins XD I think the goblin camp is the most difficult/complicated situation in all Act 1, so yeah, saving often and trying random stuff is the best way to enjoy it 😉
Upon rewatching this episode I actually also thought of somehow destroying the drums! Clever that you did that! I’m not gonna give up on the Goblin Camp anytime soon, I just need to be more strategic. 😤 Watch, next ep I’ll take ‘em all out! 😤🤌🏻
