That is crazy that that guy avoided getting caught for 50 years! They finally caught him but he’s already about to die, so there really is no justice, since he avoided prosecution and is now not facing no consequences since he’s about to die anyway. You never know what your neighbors may be always you really know them. Also yeah your transit system in Japan is remarkable. I work in transit in New York, USA but compared to Japan, yours is the top of the list in terms of speed, cleanliness, reliability and safety.

This was a nice piece of original reporting/storytelling Dash. Maybe you've found a direction you might take the channel in one day, I'm sure Japan is full of interesting "did you know" type stories.
The way you framed it, that he effectively got away without facing a penalty for his crimes reminds me of Jimmy Saville here in the UK. A beloved figure here in the UK, making kids wishes come true in his show Jim'll Fix It, and hosting a lot of popular shows like Top of the Pops.
After his death the full scope of his crimes (which I won't list here) came out, but he effectively got to live a life full of debauchery and died having never been found out.

Really wish we had vast systems like Japan does across the US. We have the money, it could be done properly. But yeah, crazy that he was on the run for 50 years. Must've changed his appearance in some ways and stayed reclusive for a while, at least. Who knows how long he was openly roaming around during the days or nights, and no one could recognize him. Or maybe he sat in his house every day.

What's crazy is that the group called in the bomb threat TWICE before the bomb went off and both times the phone operator thought it was a hoax. They called the second time because it was almost time for the bombs to go off and no one was evacuating. They were targeting the company because the company was supplying the US with weapons to use in the Vietnam War. I'm not totally unsympathetic, honestly.

My theory is that Japanese detectives are likely some of the poorest in the world at actually solving crimes. The low crime rates coupled with the fact that they usually force a confession out of the first suspect they have has made their actual detective skills a bit rusty.
