    Tana refusing Dr. Phil is actually very calculated. She knows for a fact that if she appears on the show, she will be ripped into shreds. She's clearly enjoying her being safe, and watching Michael get the heat.

      They do this on EVERY show. I'm assuming when the producer told her Michael was being "awful " to staff and demanding food& evian that was all bs. The producers job is to set the tone. They do this by lying ,manipulation and creating false narratives. My daughter was in the entertainment industry when she was little. I also was friends with a PR rep and producer (2 different people) that work on one of the longest running daytime shows. The entertainment industry is NOT a place for innocent children. Hell, it's not a place for naive or nice people. It sucks all around. Glad I got my daughter out when I did!

    I fully believe that Dr. Phil is an unethical, egotistical hack and I refuse to give him and his show any more attention than the bare minimum. Good for you for getting on it and getting paid for your footage though!

      Amanda was not made to look like a fool at all. They probably cut her part because they had also booked the "friends" and former coworkers. The fact that they kept in that one line, "So this has nothing to do with the fact that you're trying to do another Tanacon?" even though they didn't show him addressing it or anything, did Amanda justice. Everything they showed of Amanda made it clear that Amanda knew what she was talking about and really exposed Michael as a fake liar.

But to be short, as a licensed therapist, I don't think his methods are right, his program creates a power dynamic that are far from helping but rather help systematizing the people that go on the show for sectonalism. And also he has the habit of sending his "problematic teens" guests to facilities that have been again and again reported for abuse.

    I was BARELY on the internet when tanacon happened. I didn’t even really know who tana was yet and I still knew that it was disastrous. It’s mind blowing to me that he wants to do another tanacon without tana involved (or something along those lines). You’d think he would just rebrand or something to separate himself from the failure that was tanacon.

    I was SO glad to see you on the episode, and also glad to hear you know your worth because you honestly kinda did all the work for them lol You did not let him squirm his way out of anything and it was perfect. I agree that an ounce of humility and ownership, would make it much easier to forgive him. But he insists on explaining and excusing every single mistake. I wanted to slap him every time he used "13 your old girl who's being bullied online" bullshit, and the way he tried to shut you down with the su*cide comments was just VILE. I hate people who use real life shit to shut down and manipulate conversations. This video is the BTS cherry on top and I have been looking forward to this even more than the episode. Great job!

    Behind the scenes fun fact: About half the interview is never made to air, they are breaking in the guest to get real/raw answers to the hard hitting questions. Ask them about their childhood to distract them then ask about how many kids got hurt waiting in that parking lot for TanaCon? The best interview leaves the guests questioning themselves.

      I grew up in California so my mom took me to see a taping of Dr. Phil once, since a lot of times you can get tickets for free. It was absolutely wild to see this happen in person and how they fully handle and structure the episodes, especially because they will film two different episodes (mixing up the crowd between each one) in one day so you get to see how different people handle and react to this. Plus my mom had a close up in the credits of one, so that was cool I guess lmao

    lol I worked in live entertainment for 9 years precovid and I have NEVER seen an event break down like that. That's because it doesn't happen if you hire people that know what they're doing. the safety plan they read out on Dr. Phil sounded like it was written with no experience and it was damned from the start.

      Because they had no idea what they were doing and tried to plan a convention in a matter of weeks. Most conventions start planning a year plus ahead of time due to the often complicated logistics of setting up a large, multi-day event.

      The day before the opening of tana on the ONLY thing they had done prep wise was putting “tanacon” tape over some doors and elevators, they were grossly underprepared in every aspect :/ I think even if they had a large enough venue it would have been a disaster and disappointment

    I was literally watching the Dr. Phil episode on UA-cam earlier and Amanda pops up. I screamed so loudly to my bf next to me "BABY ITS THE SUNGLASSES GIRL" and watched the episode. I even went to Swell Enteetainment and checked to see if there were any updates and it wasn't published yet. So glad I stumbled upon this update so quickly!! @ Amanda: GIRL you were SO on point and your concerns were valid. You had the straight facts and I'm glad you served it to Michael!
