My number 1 issue is the lack of mobility skills. Zones are too big without them. Its kind of similar to D4's launch, because the game is too slow. It doesn't have to be as fast as PoE 1, but it needs to be faster than what it currently is.
The trials of accendancy and the overall difficulty is frustrating for an Arpg. It works for Elden Ring and I love that game. It is not great for an Arpg.
This is the best ARPG I've played since I was a child. That said, going back to play them now as an adult they don't hold up. This game's progression so far has been enjoyable. It's had its highs and lows but I've been able to recognize how to fix what needs fixing in order to progress. There are some issues but they can definitely be ironed out. Maybe adding a small bias for loot to what you currently have equipped would help. Also skill/support gems should drop a little more often.
I think that one very large issue is how crappy the passive tree is. Nodes are much weaker than poe1, spread further out, and sometimes have very large negatives for very very little payoff.
@@blackomega34 maybe, the large amount of travel nodes with little to no payoff just kind of blow. I get removing life and generic damage, but the replacements are wonky.
i can't bring myself to play it, something about it is just... stale... even last epoch kept my attention till level 90+ and I have several thousand hours of poe1
A challenging game i will play till i win. Aggrivation, however, just makes me give up. Not gonna play something with shitty gotchas that just piss u off.
i fking hate gatcha/gambling. i've already lost the only important gatcha in existence (being born in a rich and structured family), games shouldnt have this shit mechanic.
The trials are fixable problems... but I feel the whole death penalties for softcore (restart boss battle in campaign) and the reliance on dodge skill of the player means this is not a game for me. They have made a game that is more of a souls-like, and I make it a rule to stay away from games that actively hate and troll me.
@@Woolfio I agree, I think they are doing a good business move, if they can resolve the EA issues that still are around... If they attract a whole new playerbase it will be nice for them.
Just gotta let PoE 2 cook a few more months. Its already a great game regardless of the shortcomings. Honestly i prefer lab over what we got by quite a large margine, its a shame so many complained, the only thing i disliked was having to get all the act trials
@@candycommanderthe full game doesn't come out for another year, do you know what early access means? That's literally the entire reason for EA is to balance and iron out the issues
@@jonathangrimes8975 GGG are not immune to criticism "because muh EA". These are the same people who had 10+ years with Path of Exile and still such moronic systems were implemented. You and GGG need to be checked for brain parasites.
We have 3 to 6 months of this. Buckle up. I stopped playing after reaching tier 5 maps because. Ill be back for sure, but right now the game is a little dull.
My only complaint so far is that I have to throw orbs at items until they brick and then throw them away and restart. I went through over 20 items the other day trying to get a +5dex(or more) roll on ANY of my gear.
Hello, new player here. I uninstalled after first trial. I will not return until they make the game less frustrating. Challenge is fine, I am more of a souls player than ARPG so I'm used to dying a lot and learning by experience. But some things are just way too tedious and frustrating in this game. Like you say, I have no idea how a new player will keep up.
Perfect titel to sum up my Endgame experience. Screw this game until they patch in many, many QOL features and remove all the dumb decisions such as RNG waystone drops, one life per waystone, garbage Trade system, and so much more.
4:45 This is why I carry the Slow / Rabbit charm. Big brain move (complete newbie) - I can see many problems with thegame, but I had a good time so far.
Path of Exile 2 was supposed to be more casual and new player friendly, according to GGG. They did this in pretty much every way EXCEPT for when it comes to actually playing the game/progressing your gear. Which was the biggest problem with poe1. Though gem progression is more new player friendly, but has some issues. Overall its still way better than poe1. Agree on everything. Hopefully GGG fixes a lot of the issues the game has. Mostly in regards to balance, drops, and gear gambling("crafting") as someone who has played PoE1 for about 9 years. I'm tired of the layers upon layers upon layers of RNG. Was really excited hearing all the things they were saying about PoE2. But to see they just copy pasted gear progression from poe1 is really disappointing.
@@jerbaancap5244 I did say it has its issues. but theyre easily solved. Conceptually its MUCH better. Easiest Solution is to just add a vendor you can buy gems of levels youve already unlocked from(or it lets you convert gems into different types of gems/lower levels). so you can get low level gems without farming low level zones.
@jerbaancap5244 youtube ate my comment. I just said conceptually its better and it's issues are easy to fix. They can just give you the ability to convert gems into different types or they can just merge skill and spirit gems. And give the ability to choose what level you want the gem to be, at or below the level of the gem. Easy.
@@Monkey-fv2km ascendancies are TERRIBLE. Its crazy cause years ago they said theyd make ascending less annoying than poe1 cause most people dont enjoy lab. But they made it worse... wild.
I am also playing a lightning build, shocking single target or bosses is a nightmare, but you can cheese it with ball lightning and lightning warp to create shock ground, and since the damage buff that you get from shock is always the same (I really dont know if potency increases it) you always get max benefit out of shock as long as enemy is on shock ground.
In PoE1 shocked ground effect can be increased. Although if I remember correctly it didn't count as you shocking, because it is ground effect. Not sure if it matters in this case.
For problem 2 this should be fixed in next patch. I actually re-clear the entire dungeon if I die. I don’t run through. Figure I mays as well get the xp. YMMV 😅
Every backlash that GGG receives about trials in POE 2 is well-deserved. Good thing is we can just go back to POE 1. If POE 2 is destined to die young because of dumb decision, then it is what it is.
@@adventures12345-l Because its a mechanically, graphically and optimization-wise a way superior game than PoE1. All the negatives are to be balanced. Trials are only small part of the game not the whole thing and while necessary for character progression, you can just find someone to carry for you. I also hate Sanctum, just paid a random guy 5ex and got my 3rd trial completion...
Dude it's a week into EA with half the game missing. It's WAY too early to call it for POE 2 lol. Expect a lot of balance updates in the coming months.
@@Oathiel No. Stop fooling yourself, poe2 topped poe1 concurrent players on EA launch because it's new, has been hyped a lot, and D4 kind of made indirect publicity of it(all big D3/D4 streamers trying poe1, and being hyped for poe2 and playing it on EA launch, for example). It's a fact that those are the reasons it had such a successful(in number of concurrent players) launch. Polish, being superior to poe1 or not etc are not the factors, because all those players did NOT know practically anything about how their actual experience and enjoyment of the game would be. I'm not saying it's good, I'm not saying it's bad, I'm not saying its either superior or inferior to poe1, what I say, is that the numbers it had, and still has(because it's only been a week), are not related to the quality of the game.
I actually agree 100% with your complaints, but for me the good things far outweigh the annoying. It's like 95/5 and since this is an EA, I'm optimistic they'll get the balance right by the full release. I don't even want to go back to PoE 1, that's how much I enjoy this game even in this state. 😁👍
Every new person I’ve gotten to play has almost completely bounced off the trials. Some of them stuck it out for 10-15 attempts, the others stopped playing. I get that it’s an insane power spike or build enabling for your character. But the increase in difficulty is ridiculous. One of the hardest bosses of the act and you’ve got afflictions and you’ve got limited health It would’ve been fine if it was just 1 of those things, but to take it several notches up like that, just makes it a pain point currently. Imagine if the Lord’s Labyrinth and fighting Izaro had all those effects on it. Would be insanity. All that being said. I did my first two in two attempts each, but barely.
The first two are easy money. The third one is when it gets difficult. I have not even attempted the fourth yet since it's not really important. Plus I will probably fail anyway until I get OP gear but in SSF that may take me a month.
I stopped playing after a week. I actually don't need to hold myself back, i just don't like it. Honestly when i saw videos that trials will be what they are, i knew it will be something i don't like. Since i really hate those mechanics in POE1. Not sure why they forced this on us. Also speed of game is just so-so slow....and loot is so bad and no crafting. Game is just so frustrating and not relaxing (imagine coming from work and play this kind of game for many hours.....I can't). I really cant see myself playing this game right now. I will also hold on any purchases, until i see they don't damage POE1, with pouring all the money in POE2.
Yer this. I can't even get through the campaign due to boredom..... the bosses are not hard they are just dodge attack dodge attack dps bags that go on and on... its not difficult. It is just boring....
8:07 i thought they said resistances cannot be dropped into the negatives though on monsters? i dont know though i uninstalled the game after getting ass railed from a billion bugs and server issues lol i also found it humorous how everyone seems to be playing my league start now the singer barb and i never got to see it take off hahaha :p guess it worked well enough had i kept playing of course only a matter of time before GGG kills that build also right rofl
@@86lngd25 bro EA has only been out for a week and the majority of the changes that have already been made were based on feedback from the community lmao
A lot of this, and what others are complaining about ultimately boils down to balance and tuning issues. The trials are over tuned, I'm also having trouble getting my 3rd ascendency. The bosses in general are way under tuned however, I think I've killed every boss since mid act2 in under 10 seconds without doing basically any mechanics on monk and I'm in t6 maps now. The game will evolve a lot over the coming months.
I wish people would stop echoing that PoE 2 is somewhat like Elden Ring. Elden Ring right when you exit the tutorial puts a boss on your path that you are clearly not leveled/gerared enough to face. The game does that in order to teach players that they when they encounter something stronger, theyshould go elsewhere, get better gear, upgrade their weapon then come back. You can't do that in PoE 2. You won't get any higher level gem, since gem levels are tied to the zone level, our supports can't be leveled and the passive tree provides so little power compared to PoE 1 that getting a couple of levels will give you a damage increase that you won't even notice. It's the opposite of what Elden Ring allows and encourages you to do right from the start. Sure, there is a dodge roll and you have to kill the bosses in 1 life or start from scratch in ER. Wanna know another game that has those same two mechanics? Diablo 4.
It happened few times when I couldn't beat boss and didn't want to just keep trying, so I went back and farmed some item upgrades, got a level and it was enough to get past boss. Although I heard situation with casters is different, so I am now playing caster to see how it feels. So far I still don't see it, it is going relatively well, started act3.
I got hard stuck on Mektul, one of the act 3 bosses. I wasn't able to put out enough damage to kill him before the end of the fight. You know what I did? I went and used my resources to improve my damage. I found a new Amulet, upgraded my chest and helmet, and put some quality onto my weapon. The next time I fought him I beat him on the 3rd try. I was having trouble with the 2nd ascendancy quest too. Running the chaos trials was tough and I had issues that weren't the trial but the game crashing. I got discouraged and went to bed. Came back the next day, upgraded some things, and was able to beat it, thankfully I only crashed once in 4 runs. It doesn't take a lot of upgrading to make yourself strong enough to overcome things, a little perseverance, attention to detail, and thought goes a long way. I'm saying these things not to disparage anyone, but inspire.
Disagree, if you have problem with a boss you can just gear up and come back stronger. Power from items is way bigger in PoE2 than PoE1 and balance in Campaign is obviously around not having almost any res. What is your problem beside a skill issue? Git gud, bro.
I played aloty with a GAMER friend but he didnt understand anything. Had to help and explain everything to him. He would have quit if i didnt help him and push him and now he loves the game
I was interested from the start to hear your take on things because I'm a player who's more interested in building fun, unique, off-meta builds and I've always appreciated your approach to finding unique interactions and mechanics. I love PoE2. The actual gameplay feels fantastic. I love the demanding nature of combat. My issue is that the constrictive nature of the game really removes a lot of the ingenuity and creativity that PoE1 has. It's early and I have every confidence that GGG will work things out. This is the worst the game will be, which is saying something. Still...CUT THE DAMN GOLD COSTS.
PoE2 feels more restrictive than PoE1 but it also has new features, but in the end it is more "controlled" and "safe" mechanics. There were some crazy builds and they nerfed it right away. It is clear they do not want it to be on same crazy level as PoE1, although that doesn't mean it will be less fun in a long run.
BRO even old players who will grind this every league? it is crazy long who realy have time to play 10 hours a day forr 5 days? to get to maps and forced 1 try on maps and bosses is bad hc is for this not all want to play hc mod
While I agree that campaign is long, but it won't be like that with practice. Even in PoE1 at league launch I take 14 hours to finish campaign on first char while learning new mechanics and getting gear. 2nd+ character will take way less time, you will have leveling items and know where to go. And we suppose to be able to teleport between checkpoints to help travel same zone faster while backtracking.
Thats a shit mentality. Why not enjoy the campaign? It is a way better experience than mapping and unlike PoE1 you get A LOT of currency throughout the campaign. If you want to instantly, brainlessly zoom through maps without anything, maybe a game like D3 is more for you?
@@Oathielinwould love to soom through maps but white mobs swarm me and kill me instaly pr rares have 11 different on death effects. Engaging gameplay. Instead of, IDK letting us fight bosses which is the fun part of the game?
I'm inclined to abandon the game until I know that GGG is willing to change their mind on some of the core design philosophies. Their focus on creating suffering is not gonna work for me. I love myself. I don't subject myself to experiences deliberately designed to make me suffer as much as possible. No thanks.
You do realize that this is Early access and the game is 6 months to a year away from completion. They'll figure out the balance and fix a lot of the issues. Their philosophy isn't to torture people and have a lot of one shot mechanics. Even they said that. I believe that they overturned things because it's generally more acceptable for the playerbase to accept nerfs to monsters and bosses than buffs.
@@cata112233 It's not easy to get a read on exactly what they're aiming for at GGG. But harshness and a punishing nature have come up a bunch in interviews. There's a chance that they'll let go of some things based on player feedback, but there's also a chance they'll dig their heels in. I don't know yet which way they're gonna go.

@@NightfallGemini I've played monk to T6 maps and I don't see any core philosophical or design problems. Did you get honour resistance on your relics for third trial ? I think that is not well explained, if you cap your honour res third trial becomes a breeze
I like the way accuracy works in PoE2. It's kinda weird in PoE1 that you need as much accuracy to hit someone with a stick than to shoot them with a bow. And bow characters always get dexterity naturally so the thing that should be harder to hit targets with is actually the one that needs less accuracy scaling :D I Just wish the stat in the character sheet would show you not only your hit change within 2 meters but also how far you can shoot before you fall below 100% hit chance
welcome back woolfy! i have watched ur videos for....few years now? just take ur time and talk about what u want. on this subject....i got stumped on the 1 act already. tried 4 different builds, nothing "feels" good. it is a slog to get through. and before anyone starts mumbling, i started PoE in 2016... this is punishing for veterans so i can already imagine how hard this is for new players. but yeah...good to have you back mate!
walk back problem, when you find exit to next zone enter it reach the teleport (there is one at the begining normally) go to zone that you haven't finish exploring, when done, portal to town and continue from there
Game is still beta. So I am pretty confident they will fix it. Melee needs a huge fix. First trial is a hard stop for melee builds until you can overlevel them.
1, Good to see you being well. o/ 2, problem one needs that tuning we paid into EA for beta testing. like, they want more casual players in, but difficulty spikes are like RUTHLESS/Hardcore level?! Mike Tyson was offering candy first before punching us after. XD Find me a Jake Paul mask so he bites his gloves instead. XD 3, I would NOT mind if GGG either implemented a teleporting from just checkpoint to checkpoint, or if i click/press on a checkpoint on my minimap when map is enlarged and I can then portal cast to that checkpoint. 4. Yeah, we do want a lil' more lenient gold costs on re-spec'ing
I started off with so much hype, and as the hours went on I just felt it all slowly trickle out. As I dodge rolled, the hype and excitement just fell right out of my pockets.
@@newvocabulary Ikr? On the surface, the broad strokes are pretty good, it seems to be a well made game with good production values. But it's all the little things that grate on you after awhile. The loot is slow and generally sucks. The passive tree is boring as sin. And the skills have as much creative input as a sack of hammers. It's far less a 'make your own fun' kind of game, and more of a 'we know what fun is, and that is putting your balls in a vice until you piss crimson' kind of game. Did the first trial with a melee character on 3rd try, its not too bad. Also im not following any guides and not a poe expert. Just taking my time thinking about my build.
I think I noticed that mostly poe 1 veterans are having the most complaints about this game. Most new players (including me who have only around 70hrs in poe 1) are enjoying the game but I agree with you about the Trials. Honor system sucks and it is really unfair like when you activate a switch and you are locked in animation and blood globules drops in your head 😂. It sucks
The thing is, Poe1 veterans having some skills carry over from the previous game can see these flaws and how they could compound in the future. They end up encountering these issues before the new players hit them. This is why most negative reviews come from vetereans.
Exactly. Everyone says Campaign is nice, it just sucks if you get to higher tier maps, which a casual will either never hit or 2-3 weeks. That's why kripp said it's fun now and you judge, but in some weeks when you catch up, it is gonna suck.
@ agree with this. But just like every arpg, there’s that inevitable “ceiling”. I’m only at T11 maps and kinda’ done with it for now which is fine for me. I don’t want myself to end up just like what I did in Diablo 2 days 🤣
Nothing better than a woolfio video to come from a long day, where I had to destroy walls and pick up the cement blocks and throw them into a container. Regarding the 2nd problem: Didn't they address it and said that we should be able to teleport from one blue obelisk to another? Or maybe they have it planned and I mix things up😅
Regarding the honour system, you can get relics that provide %honour resistance & +max honour resistance, meaning you can easily assemble a setup that makes you take 80% less honour damage (or 5x less) than without. The game seems to be balanced around that. I play titan and I was able to defeat the 4th floor with that setup first try.
As far as the tornado is concerned, if you attack it slows you down. So if you think a big attack is coming that you'll need to dodge, unless you are pathfinder, who has ascendancy that lets her move faster while attacking... you'll have tohold your fire until the big attack is over. You were supposed to learn that mechanic when you fought Ogdan the wolf in act 1
I tried that boss before and died to tornado, so this time I thought maybe it is hiding inside it and I can stop it that way. I mean I had to try something different from before.
I agree with everything you said. Ascendancy should be easier to obtain. Honor is stupid. That bird boss is stupid. The trials lasting a whole 30 minutes to an hour just to die and try again. No thanks. Campaign is fun but the map is huge with no real rewards. Boss fights dying over and over again is boring. Every time I beat the boss, I sit there wondering to myself what have I’ve been doing this whole time? Nothing. Wasted 30 minutes dodge rolling and one piecing the boss. After several attempts, I win. And I lose. Respec is a better place but it’s too damn expensive, for lower levels/leveling up. Skill gems… kinda weird. I like it. I don’t miss the leveling or keep a gem at level 1 for lower mana cost etc. Itemization. Give us a little more resources. But it’s ok so far. Yet to do endgame… hopefully it doesn’t get boring either :/
The charm for me with POE is that I don't have to focus much on the game. I can just listen to something informative while still having a blast. Now we have to listen to the enemy boss for it's attack patterns. If I die all mobs respawn which sucks too.
I do not and I do not want that for lightning merc using Doryani's Prototype. But if you asking are there ways con convert incoming lightning damage in general - yes, there are few ways.
@@Woolfio No, sorry, my question was how this build deals with monster hits that are lightning damage? Do I understand correctly that you would be killed by any lightning damage so you dodge it all? Or is there some other kind of defense?
@@ArgumentumAdHominem Another line on that unique armour says that armour mitigates lightning damage. I have a bit over 4k armour, although that is not high enough for higher difficulty but enough for that level.
1. Trials are not tuned, most people feel that - expected in EA.. trials should be hard to do, not that insane though, Sanctum is just not ok ATM. Ultimatum is fine 2. Re-spec can be cheaper ATM, too much grind on a bad build is pain - to get money for re-spec This is a LOT better than most whining we get these days :D those 2 points are super valid
I got stuck on the bird trial for HOURS. Never get touched through the entire trial, bird just unkillable. Over and over, til I got a different boss and won the first try
love those viseos xD played poe 1 for lieke 2-3 or 4k hours ? and cant handle that ? poe1 in the beginning was even harder than that. . i play the game with my mohter (she is 65years old) and we did the trails togeather!
Aside from trial difficulties, what upsets me is the disparity of crit rates and atk speeds of melee weapons. Who thought it is balanced to give quarterstaves 10-11% crit rates and 1.4 atk speed while two handed maces are stuck with 5% crit rates and 1.1 atk speed.
Then add that all the mace skills feel so bad to use as they take so Long to use. Even in maps the best way to kill bosses is mace strike until heavy stunned, seismic strike then drop the hammer. It’s too risky to try and get off other skills like sunder in the damage windows
The way everything is setup right now. It's literally just poe1 ruthless with better graphics. Don't get me wrong, I like the methodical boss fights and boss mechanics. But I feel like the forced item crafting feels more like an artificial and forced difficulty imposed on players. I could get by with such crafting mechanics just fine due to familiarity with the crafting system from poe1, but just imagine the frustration of new players who's had no idea with crafting and just solely relying on drops and/or npc items. I've had a friend who's new to the game, and she literally dont know what to gear up with her witch. They said they streamlined the experience for casuals, but it seems that part is untrue with how bad gearing is right now. I don't like J-Rog's approach with this. I know he has a vision for the game, but this feels a bit too selfish on their part to impose these so-called "meaningful choices" on players who are just trying the game for the first time and trying to get a grasp and learn the game. I'm not even asking for much, I just want the crafting bench back so we have a means of deterministic crafting, rather than no-lifing the game just to get a decent leveling gear.
I'm an MMO player that's got into poe2 last week. I played a little Last Epoch but found the endgame loop uninspiring. For me POE2 both challenging and fun (playing monk, so I didn't take the easy option) Hitting gearing barriers is common to nmo's, so having that be a thing here is not a big thing. It's early access, so tuning is expected and we are helping test the systems. From what I see on UA-cam, the biggest complaint can be summed up as "it's not poe1" You guys seem to be expecting the old game with better graphics and new classes. That it's harder / slower / you gotta work for it... meh.
My guy, monk is proberly the only melee that actually works atm. You did in some respect pick the easy option. Try warrior, or as he did merc. They suuuuck. Sure you can make them work, but compared to going lightning arrow or caster or just wind monk that basicly craps on everything. Look at MAthils vids as monk. Crazy. Even summoner is MEH! alot of tuning issues atm. Alot of terrible skills. Like totems for warrior. Lasting 2 seconds, so they attack 1 o 2 times before dissapearing. terrible.
OP's video was about "I don't like it, what will new players make of this". For me as a new player, it's fun but needs tuning before full release. The existing community and prominent UA-camrs are doing more to trash an early access game than the game is doing itself.
@@dixieflatline1189 I'm also new, coming from MMO background. I don't mind challenging, what I do mind is doing 1 hour of content for absolutely zero rewards/progress because of a nasty surprise, and then having to do that again. That's what these people are complaining about. I've not hit that wall yet myself, and kinda dread the time that I do. And no, this is not like practicing a new raid boss. Imagine having to do all the previous trash and bosses every time you wipe, with "exciting" random affixes.
Ultimatum in poe1, small dangers due to small arena = more navigation space Ultimatum in poe2, big af dangers due to big arena = less navigation space 💀💀
Yeah you're right. I too, havent watched the video before commenting also and support the clueless opinion that nobody knows what an early access is when they give feedback.
My issue is that they did exactly what we hate and then told us to get hyped about it. "Get hyped guys, you'll be getting your ascendencies, in.... drumroll.... fucking sanctum!" lmao, no thanks. Designers are trash.
Hope we'll not wait for 6 months to fix all these problems. 1 month is enough for GGG to collect all the data problems within the game. They need to fix the ascendancy mechanics. Poe1 ascendancy mechanics is better
Not every build, it is just really powerful item. Imagine enemies having +50% or even +75% resistances, lowering your damage by a lot. Instead of getting penetration or lowering enemy resistance with exposure + curse, you put on Doryani's Prototype and boom, enemies no longer have resistances. On top of that they get negative resistance, meaning you start doing more damage.
Afther we done with act 3 you get the some act's again.. from 1 to 3.. Trials yeh they suck balls :D Minions stuck on each other.. similar to players blocking each other... Skills are somewhat boring and to get to lategame you need to suffer alot Can't refound ascendancy or change it.. Respec cost to much gold its early acces it supposed to be a test phase but nop.. hell no pay for it overall what i like most is the movement of the character and thet's it
I think it's bad in it's current state. Visuals good, music good, sound fine (too much bass). Skills bound to weapons is horrible for creativity. Skill tree too large and weak. Minions are the worst thing I have ever seen. Time disrespecting game.
What was fhe point of killing energy gems when theres still 30 other builds getting millions of dps? Thats what im confused about. Also everything beyond tier 9 is too easy . If we're gonna easily reach crazy dps, the highest tier monsters need another 5x life.
My theory on this is that they have more people playing than expected and the constant spell spam was causing issues with their servers. That's why they didn't tune things down, they just killed the entire playstyle. Should've given a free respec and explained things if that was the case though.
elder ring less punishin than poe 2. if die on boss in ER - try again and get better. If you mess up dodge on boss in red maps - rip bozo, you lost map and you dont get chance practice and get better.
His chest makes nearby monsters have lightning resist equal to his. So if he has -50% they do too. So taking that +10% lightning lowered his damage forever.
Im not saying poe2 is perfect, especially trials etc need more fine tuning etc... but honestly, your logic of "what will a new player do" is faulty. You approach this game with a poe1 mindset, for example with the expectation that your ascendancy should be handed out to you. A new player doesnt see it this way, they have different expectations. Additionally (and im not saying youre doing this, i havent watched enough of your poe2 gameplay) ive seen many blasters apply poe1 style of problem solving methods. New players just tried stuff out as it came and when it didnt work, they came back to it later with a new approach or just more poeerful. while poe1 players bashed their head against the wall because they think the way they do it should work and got frustrated. The point with prototype seems very nitpicky. Its quite a niche item with a niche problem and youre venting about it like its completely ruining the game. I actually feel like you dont intend it to come across that negative but it sounds pretty bad. Hope your frustrations get fixed soon and you keep playing the game :) i think for an EA it has a fantastic base to build from.
This is a bad take. I made it to "the game frustrates new players to quit and then they will just come back later" no they wont. Thats as terrible take. A game is not supposed to frustrate people with unexplained mechanics. You are telling him he is coming into this game with a poe 1 mindset, yet here you are with your elden ring dark souls mindset thinking games frustrating the players to quit is the way to keep player retention? I never understood how any of the souls games were a success, seems to be alot of self hating people out there that get off on frustration. But how about we dont make it an industri standard?

Or they reclear an area, because they couldn't kill the boss after several attempts. Im just saying, people bitch in chat about having to try a boss for 5-10 times and quitting, while I died 20 times on Balbala cause I was too stupid to get the gas mechanic and when I got it, i was very happy and felt like I earned the progression.

@@salihkizildag Yeah, that is classic opinion of someone for whom poe 1 was too complex and could not really grasp it and therefore did not enjoy it. So yeah, for you and people similar to you poe 2 might be a better choice as it is really dumbed down game compared to poe 1. For most people who loved poe 1, got into it and really had enough knowledge and understanding to enjoy the game, poe 2 is just inferior. Complexity, freedom and creativity level of builds, depth of game mechanics starting but in no way ending with crafting, gem system - there is almost nothing done better in poe 2 than in poe 1 at least for more demanding gamers. Directly comparing those two games poe 2 is simply worse in most aspects, but probably also way more accessible to guys like you.

You might be one of those who really prefer this ruthless style and miserable suffering and poe 2 is much closer to it - but that is not the case for most. But nonsense that in trade league is no challenge. Ofc there is - you can play extremely hard content which only very few can run and have lots of fun while getting there in dynamic and entertaining gameplay. Overcoming obstacles and solving lots of puzzles on the way while having fun. And noone is forcing you to trade everything - I am personally crafting 99% of my endgame stuff and basically not crafting only what i mirror. I would have to see what builds you have made and if you ever made it to hardest content available but in trade league you have choice how hard you make the game and you can make it very hard and very challenging. All is up to you. Yeah, obviously there are poeple who like poe 1 ruthless mode way more than normal one - but time has shown that they are in pretty massive minority.
Whenever you learn something detrimental about your build it just gives more reason to play again in a different season. Like for warbringer warrior how the negative armor break does literally nothing so im missing out on everything titan ascendency has just so i can have specifically only my basic attack break armor innately but still less then what the support gem breaks. Warcry build doesn't do good enough damage, totems are generally horrible and you cant use a shield until your extremely high level due to the stupidly unrealistic stat expectation in order to use it with giants blood and the jade rock doesn't even make you invincible nor you cant cancel it at will so it just ends right as they drop an anvil on your head so its just used for the decaying 10% damage mitigation passive exclusively
as a new player ive found figuring out POE2 pretty simple really, I think if you are a POE vet you might be bringing some expectations and how it should work with you. The trials were pretty easy just got to take it slow which is not a POE1 thing
I think you pinpoint why I’m so annoyed with POE2 criticism. A lot (not all) of it comes down to expectations based on POE1 and its polish. People also complain that GGG ‘threw away’ solutions they already had in POE1. But to me, reinventing the wheel in game design is totally normal! Otherwise you end up pigeonholed back to the design you had.

I completely agree, the third trial is just a pain and takes way too long to keep trying and then dying at the end.
They don't play the game they make.
My number 1 issue is the lack of mobility skills. Zones are too big without them. Its kind of similar to D4's launch, because the game is too slow. It doesn't have to be as fast as PoE 1, but it needs to be faster than what it currently is.

Good to see you mate, I have missed your videos, I hope you stick with it and continue to showcase unique, off-meta builds.
The trials of accendancy and the overall difficulty is frustrating for an Arpg. It works for Elden Ring and I love that game. It is not great for an Arpg.
Nah, it's good
Play the game instead of skipping it
This is the best ARPG I've played since I was a child.
It's the best ARPG I've ever played
Lol git gud
Play POE1 then
I think that one very large issue is how crappy the passive tree is. Nodes are much weaker than poe1, spread further out, and sometimes have very large negatives for very very little payoff.
The tree isn't crappy, numbers are just smaller across the board and your monkey brain is going 'where big number'.
@@blackomega34 maybe, the large amount of travel nodes with little to no payoff just kind of blow. I get removing life and generic damage, but the replacements are wonky.

The trials are fixable problems... but I feel the whole death penalties for softcore (restart boss battle in campaign) and the reliance on dodge skill of the player means this is not a game for me.
Mostly in regards to balance, drops, and gear gambling("crafting")
as someone who has played PoE1 for about 9 years. I'm tired of the layers upon layers upon layers of RNG. Was really excited hearing all the things they were saying about PoE2. But to see they just copy pasted gear progression from poe1 is really disappointing.
it is worse than poe1, gem progression
@@jerbaancap5244 I did say it has its issues. but theyre easily solved. Conceptually its MUCH better.
Easiest Solution is to just add a vendor you can buy gems of levels youve already unlocked from(or it lets you convert gems into different types of gems/lower levels). so you can get low level gems without farming low level zones.
@jerbaancap5244 youtube ate my comment.

@@Woolfio You can increase value of the shock provided by shocked ground using "magnitude of shock" stat.

Every backlash that GGG receives about trials in POE 2 is well-deserved. Good thing is we can just go back to POE 1. If POE 2 is destined to die young because of dumb decision, then it is what it is.

Difficulty is definitely my main complaint. I'm not a souls-like fan. I hate that actually.
That's fine because this game is nothing like a soulslike
I actually agree 100% with your complaints, but for me the good things far outweigh the annoying. It's like 95/5 and since this is an EA, I'm optimistic they'll get the balance right by the full release. I don't even want to go back to PoE 1, that's how much I enjoy this game even in this state. 😁👍
Every new person I’ve gotten to play has almost completely bounced off the trials. Some of them stuck it out for 10-15 attempts, the others stopped playing.
I get that it’s an insane power spike or build enabling for your character. But the increase in difficulty is ridiculous. One of the hardest bosses of the act
and you’ve got afflictions
and you’ve got limited health
It would’ve been fine if it was just 1 of those things, but to take it several notches up like that, just makes it a pain point currently.

You're a great friend
BRO even old players who will grind this every league? it is crazy long who realy have time to play 10 hours a day forr 5 days? to get to maps

The campaign doesnt bother me too much but holy the endgame feels like a map hardcore mode

I like the way accuracy works in PoE2. It's kinda weird in PoE1 that you need as much accuracy to hit someone with a stick than to shoot them with a bow. And bow characters always get dexterity naturally so the thing that should be harder to hit targets with is actually the one that needs less accuracy scaling :D I Just wish the stat in the character sheet would show you not only your hit change within 2 meters but also how far you can shoot before you fall below 100% hit chance

Or maybe they have it planned and I mix things up😅
Yeah teleporting is not in game yet.
finally a woolfio video :D
Regarding the honour system, you can get relics that provide %honour resistance & +max honour resistance, meaning you can easily assemble a setup that makes you take 80% less honour damage (or 5x less) than without. The game seems to be balanced around that. I play titan and I was able to defeat the 4th floor with that setup first try.
Already using it. Your armour and evasion was suppose to help as well in PoE1. Not sure about PoE2.
It’s not listed in game but honor resistance is capped at 75% from what I’ve heard but it still helps a bit. Though DoTs seem to obliterate your honor
Keep making videos! I like them
Difficulty is tricky to balance. A lot of performance issues is gear, passives or skill related
Yet to do endgame… hopefully it doesn’t get boring either :/
hello to my favorite poe cook 👋
The charm for me with POE is that I don't have to focus much on the game. I can just listen to something informative while still having a blast. Now we have to listen to the enemy boss for it's attack patterns. If I die all mobs respawn which sucks too.
Acolyte of Chayula is near unplayable.
Noob question. Do you convert incoming lightning damage in any way?
Ultimatum is fine
2. Re-spec can be cheaper ATM, too much grind on a bad build is pain - to get money for re-spec
This is a LOT better than most whining we get these days :D
those 2 points are super valid
I got stuck on the bird trial for HOURS. Never get touched through the entire trial, bird just unkillable. Over and over, til I got a different boss and won the first try
Did you try to get other players to help? You can co-op
halo soulslike edition
love those viseos xD played poe 1 for lieke 2-3 or 4k hours ? and cant handle that ? poe1 in the beginning was even harder than that. .
i play the game with my mohter (she is 65years old) and we did the trails togeather!
Well good job :)
Cast on shock gem now is useless for sorc
Baby RF? Cant wait. I cried when they did not have it in poe2
It's probably gonna be added with templar
They said it will be added later on, probably on full launch, around 6 months later.
@@Woolfio ahh neat to know, for know i am happy with my uncapped Demonform :D
I'm not even asking for much, I just want the crafting bench back so we have a means of deterministic crafting, rather than no-lifing the game just to get a decent leveling gear.
yeah, why does my lightning resistance start at minus 20% now?
Every act is -10% to all resists. POE1 is like this as well.
I'm an MMO player that's got into poe2 last week. I played a little Last Epoch but found the endgame loop uninspiring. For me POE2 both challenging and fun (playing monk, so I didn't take the easy option)
Hitting gearing barriers is common to nmo's, so having that be a thing here is not a big thing. It's early access, so tuning is expected and we are helping test the systems.
From what I see on UA-cam, the biggest complaint can be summed up as "it's not poe1"
You guys seem to be expecting the old game with better graphics and new classes.
Lasting 2 seconds, so they attack 1 o 2 times before dissapearing. terrible.
Problem being it is not a fun/challenging slow it is a boring slow.
Ultimatum in poe1, small dangers due to small arena = more navigation space
Ultimatum in poe2, big af dangers due to big arena = less navigation space 💀💀
Seems like nobody is realizing that the mechanics and balance probleems of the game is exactly why they made an early access.
Designers are trash.
seems like you're huffing the cope gas and hate critique but okay
Hope we'll not wait for 6 months to fix all these problems. 1 month is enough for GGG to collect all the data problems within the game.
They need to fix the ascendancy mechanics. Poe1 ascendancy mechanics is better
I hope they simply add Poe1 ascendancy back in as an alternative option , revamped.
Can someone tell me why getting lightning resistance would ruin a lightning build?
Look up Doryani's Prototype.
so every lightning build uses this item? im a noob only on act 1 but that doesnt sound great for build diversity
Trials yeh they suck balls :D
Minions stuck on each other.. similar to players blocking each other...
Skills are somewhat boring and to get to lategame you need to suffer alot
Can't refound ascendancy or change it..
Respec cost to much gold its early acces it supposed to be a test phase but nop.. hell no pay for it
overall what i like most is the movement of the character and thet's it
That is because game is early access and missing half the acts, half the classes, weapons and stuff. In final release there won't be cruel difficulty.
@@Woolfio yeh but takes to long to get to the and :(
lvl 80 , I will stay a while and listen
@@newvocabulary I doubt it considering wardloop was a thing in poe1
Poe2 should be for casuals who play diablo 4, not for trihards who play elden ring
no
elder ring less punishin than poe 2. if die on boss in ER - try again and get better. If you mess up dodge on boss in red maps - rip bozo, you lost map and you dont get chance practice and get better.
I dont get this resistance thing. Are u saying monsters get the same resistances as you ? How that doesnt make any sense. Is it a spell that does it ?
The unique gloves
His chest makes nearby monsters have lightning resist equal to his. So if he has -50% they do too. So taking that +10% lightning lowered his damage forever.
One of my biggest issues are the maps.
I never had to walk all the way back wtf are you on about
what a chad
@@ivpiv5933 "I never understood how any of the souls games were a success"
Because people find the game fun and satisfying to play, easy.
" seems to be alot of self hating people out there that get off on frustration"
Cope and skill issue. Nothing more pathetic than some rando commenter making fun of people because they like a game series that they dont. Stay mad. I don't even know why you mentioned the souls series that you apparently hate yet lives rent free in your head when the original commenter didn't even mention it himself lol.
@@ivpiv5933 ive never played dark souls or elden ring, but have 1500 hours in poe1 just to put things into perspective.
I didn't say new players quit the game and come back (sorry if that was unclear in my original comment), I meant they go do a trial, fail and revisit that mechanic at a later point.
@@Marhal47 The gas mechanic was just obscure and lazy bs meant to increase player death count. Number of ways to improve that aspect of the fight. I didn't feel like I earned anything after learning that I just thought "finally".
Wild of a game to say Ultimatum is easier, lmao
I like the grueling difficulty on some stuff. I'm only getting better at playing. We know Its only going to get easier. We know how GGG does.
im gonna just say it. poe2 is trash. poe1 is king. i dont know what they were thinking
the opposite, poe 1 is one of the worst arpgs on the market, poe 2 is the best one
@@BrutallyHonestBloke they literally made a completely different game. its like diablo 2 vs diablo 3. they used the same names, but everything is dumbed down and crappy. what is one thing in poe 2 that is similar to poe 1... i honestly dont get it. you have the formula for whats successful in poe1 so you decide to change everything.. wtf were they doing for 5 years if this is what they've got to show? its like d3 all over again.
@@BrutallyHonestBlokeI have 9500 hours in poe 1. it's not a complex game after about 500 hours. I played hc ruthless for about a month and it was decent, but sc trade is simply terrible. there's no challenge at all, it's just brainrot adhd gameplay
@@salihkizildag ok man, but then i don't get your "worst arpg on the market". I mean you play for 9500 hours game which you don't like? And ok again, you liked the most ruthless, so be it.
Woolfi!!!!
tldr: games trash
It's real
Bahlak's tornado is really just run away until the phase is done. It's easily doable with 15& MS.
We need to remember that POE2 is an early access. The game isnt set in stone.
and this is the critique. either EA is for critique or it's not. "we need to remember" nothing.
as a new player ive found figuring out POE2 pretty simple really, I think if you are a POE vet you might be bringing some expectations and how it should work with you.
You are a tourist and have no idea what you're talking about. You will not be coming back league after league. You will one-and-done the game, get to maps, and then tell the world about what a great game it is. You are the problem.
@@newvocabularythat’s what you see, but what you don’t see is him being a new potential lifer, thus supporting GGG and Poe2 for years to come.
Keep with your mentality, your game is going to descend back to a “hardcore” game for another 13 years with GGG wondering why their game isn’t as mainstream as Diablo 4 or other games out there.
Just you wait, GGG is going to change the game and make it more causal then you’re gonna cry and go back to poe1. 😂
@@newvocabulary bhahaha its a brand new game we are all tourists right now
I feel this is super build dependent as well. I had to take it slow and didnt have much issue with the first sanctum trial however cause build issue (trying new things) the ultimatum one kinda just needed good rng to get not terrible modifiers
I really am enjoying the game poe2, it doesn't have many real issues really it's great fun. Maybe just needs a little tuning here and there but overall it's a 10/10 game compared to poe1 or d4
