Jelle, das war ein wunderschönes Video. Die Musik....alles so harmonisch....die Gestaltung der Eibe über den Felsen....da passt alles...bin begeistert...❤
Beautiful movement and very good looking overall! Could you please tell me, the rock is a lava piece? If so, the alkaline PH of lava rocks (in general) should be some how neutralized (or compensated by watering) for evergreen trees? I ask you this because Taxus (Bacatta cultivar?) is a evergreen tree and I have a similar project but with a Cupressus "Wilma" on a lava rock.
Ohw, wow, thank you so much! I think many Root over Rock bonsai are put together without much thought, which often makes them .. boring.. A GOOD root over rock though.. Is a spectable!
Nice looking tree and rock combination but i am struggling to understand how you will get the roots to reach the substrate in the pot without any moss or muck to guide them down. I would have expected 10 years of root growth to be a lot more roots than you appear to have?
The idea is that the roots grow down between the foil and the rock and therefor create a tight bond to the rock. The first years I made the mistake of keeping the tree small, instead of letting it shoot. Over the last 3 years I have let it grow more, and development is much better now.
Mooie video Jelle. Vraagje… zou je ipv alu folie geen spagnum mos om de wortels kunnen wikkelen icm met zo’n gaasje? Zou dat niet voldoende bescherming/vocht vast houden? Wordt echt een mooie bonsai! Knap hoor
When I hear music like this, all I can think about is the fragile impermanence of life.

Danke mein Lieber!
Outstanding root incorporation into the rock feature 👏
Look forward to seeing it's growth. Please continue to update seasonally if possible 👍
Not sure how often, but I will post an update once I decided it has progressed enough!
I love how the roots developed over the rock. Very nice!
I ove how this is developing too!
Great going jelle...shows patience is a virtue in bonsai...we can fake some age but we can't recreate it as well as time
true!
I was impressed with the way you put ths one together Jelle. A lot more artistic in approach and sound :)
A lot more editing work too ! :)
Wonderful composition! Breathtaking production!!!
Thank you so much! I decided to try something different!
Nice Jelle, Thats a great coloured rock for Taxus bark. Hopefully it will be ready next time you unwrap!
Me too!
You just inspired me to uncover mine as well. Cheers from Ojai California

I am not sure it is needed. I do not in any case!
Beautiful! Lovely new roots over the rock! How much longer before you can remove the aluminium foil? Cheers from Finland
I really would like to keep them exposed next year. As some point I just need to decide that enough is enough.
Impresionante. Nunca me habían gustado demasiado los bonsais en roca hasta que he visto el video. Que preciosidad

The mesh you add over the foil at 6:30 .... I cannot figure out its purpose, could you please explain?

Hi! Do you plan to do a garden tour of your’s ? I’m sûre you have a lot to show.
To be honest, not really. My garden is private.
What kind of rock is the windswept taxis on? Never wanted a root over rock until seeing your videos. Thanks
This is a piece of Lava. Did you see ua-cam.com/video/7acpNihE_04/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/iLpkoeLC4sg/v-deo.html ?

Is there any coniferous inside bonsai u would recommend?
I do not really like indoors. I do not have any indoor conifers.
What are you looking for as far as root development is concerned? In other words, why did you cover the roots again for another year?
I saw lots of young roots in spots that can benefit from more roots. So I am looking for someone mature roots in the right spaces.
WOULD love to see it 25 years IM sure it be AWORK of man made NATURE my COMPLIMENTS.?..thank you for sharing.
Fingers crossed! Thx so much!
❤super😀
Thank you! Cheers!
That was dramatic!
