My Son wants to go to WVU for obvious reasons, but the biggest one is he loves Neal Brown and his family. I had to explain the business to him. What a great leader to have in the community, especially for our young football players! Your tears were warranted my friend and I share them......Cheers!
So glad you mentioned d Vic Koenig - The day NB did t stand up for Vic was when I said … we were in trouble .. NB was supportive of everyone BUT Vic… he’ll he fell on his sword w Jordon Lesley… Vic was done wrong- if Vic did say a derogatory thing educate don’t throw your best coach away.. and even so thst player left soon after and wasn’t that good ..dumb Moves all over and this is the problem.. dumb leadership
I agree with you guys about Coach Brown, i have allways wanted him to succed but Neil will be fine because of all the accolades you referenced. Best of luck for Coach Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers!
I really liked NB, as Wren stated, he's been a great ambassador for WVU and WV. But the bottom line is the record. I wish him the best going forward and would like to thank him for his time at WVU.
My biggest disappointment is that many players didn't get better and all 3 qbs actually regressed by their senior year. I'm not saying you have to set the worled on fire but from from your freshman to a senior player you should be much more improved and not making freshman mistakes and being indecisive.
Im sure Neal all night Sunday when he couldnt sleep thought. As a Head cosch its my job to tell the defense coaches get out of that Im scared i lay back in a zone an hope i dont get lit up. Those 2 huge horrible defense games was the final straw for Brown. As a head coach if you to scared to get up an challenge people you deserve to get fired an he did...
Bottom line is NB didn’t create a winner.. the kids are good but they need a coach w a winning demeanor .. winning expectations.. not one that says 5 wins is “ok” This so NB fault he gives everyone a trophy.. this doesn’t get a winner it gets mediocrity
I think you guys have a great perspective. However, you are not reading the fan base correctly. We........or at least...........I am not disappointed with Neal Brown for any of the reasons that you stated. It has zero to do with our record. After 6 years at the helm, the team still has the exact same issues. They play undisciplined, fundamentally inconsistent and sometimes unsound football. In the first game of his 6th season, his team couldn't go in motion and even snap the ball. And this has nothing to do with the opponent. We constantly have blown defensive coverages, constantly do not cover with proper fundamentals, consistently line up wrong, get penalized at the wrong time, and inconsistently catch the ball. I could go on about the number of basic issues that his teams have had all six years. I mean, name me one other team that went into overtime against an inferior team like Kansas in 2022, stopped them on 3rd and long on their first possession, got an idiotic penalty and lost by 13 IN OT! It was never our record that bothered me. It's how poor we played..........even in victory the team looked bad most of the time. We struggled against even competition, were usually pounded by even slightly better teams, and won most of the games against inferior teams. Most of the time we won games because the other team was less sound than we were. They made more stupid mistakes! This was the consistent theme for Brown's entire tenure. You can't blame that on anyone but the head coach. I was never disappointed when we played good football and were beaten by a much better team. That was only handful of times. I don't know what the problem was with Brown's coaching, but the team always played a mediocre brand of football at best with him at the helm, even in 2023 at 9-4. Go back and watch the actual play during that year. Our opponents made so many mistakes that we almost couldn't lose some of those games. I wish Neal the best and hope he finds some of that Troy magic again. However, it was lost in Morgantown for sure!

Thanks for the comment!
There’s no reason WVU can’t compete for the Big 12. Especially if we are stepping up with revenue sharing like Wren stated
Thanks for joining in!
