    Probably not interesting at all:
I'm not uploading for money, definitely not. However, I am trying to connect with my audience. I've been growing the channel for over a year now. I've been liking to post music videos/'opening sequences' for my favorite tv shows as a fan sort of thing(+ I like to edit), but I've been deciding to change things up a little. (Also, adding video thumbnails.) Now, I'm doing trivia and blooper/mistake stuff off of my observations. AND I'm narrowing my niche down a little, and focusing mainly on retro, classic tv. I think retention is going up. Maybe it is since I'm talking. I'm saying what the video is, instead of just expecting the viewers to get it from the title, thumbnail, and description alone. I love talking a lot, and my words are very fast. So, I'm trying to slow down for more clarity.

It was funny because when I did my very first couple of videos months I spent a good 3 days trying to find the right spin on my intro of my videos. Looking back, it still was a horrible job. XD But funny enough, I really have a good knack of doing it in one swing every now and then and it pans out very well! 😅 There are times when I'll just wing it and if it seems good enough, I move on, and edit out the things that don't seem to work out (and what I kind of find like a filler or fluff excess part / stuff that actually didn't really interest me at the end and cut that part out too).
Surprisingly, I can relate back then when it comes to sending out the message and trying to be a perfectionist about it way too often, it ends up with me going about it in circles so I just redo it from the beginning and it gets done like that as opposed to 5 to 8 different takes and putting it together to make it seem right despite still seeming like a mess -- lol 😂 but now I don't even take near that many takes, trying to get the point across despite trying to reduce the long explanations because I feel it bores people eventually, or people have the notion to not bother (lazy mentality, not much you can do with that lol), but you are right. Just move on. lol as for me, I just get photobomb'd way too often whenever I'm out in public and even if I move to many remote private areas where hardly anyone walks around and there's nothing much to see, people somehow gravitate towards my area and still come to my area and pass through me and my camera pointed elsewhere. Tourists here in Niagara Falls are bizarre hahaha, that's probably one of the things I edit out more often in my videos anyways these days in my situation of video recordings.
A long way has come, and I definitely gotten much better now with the videos than I have in the past. Thanks for your experiences you've given to me as well. Irony how I can relate as well and still climbing that mountain 2 years later! 😂 love this video, thank you for sharing your experiences on a relatable level -- and apologies for the long novel post lol

These are all very valuable tips and I really love your videos. Regarding looking straight into the camera lense, it depends. My method for marking a new take is to clap my hands in front of the camera. This functions similarly to a clapperboard in filmmaking. By doing it directly in front of the camera and microphone, it creates a clear visual and audio cue that is easy to spot, thanks to the peak in volume. This approach is particularly useful for multi-camera recordings or when using external audio sources, as it provides a reliable reference point for syncing the footage.

I think when it comes to retention that it's about stress and release, you start the video all "HEY WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS" to catch the eye, you add some jokes in the first 30 seconds, and then you cool off a bit with subtle/no jokes for the next (half) minute, and then you increase again

I don't do much in the way of editing, other than bringing clips together. I REALLY need to get better at eye contact for sure! Thumbnails need work for sure. Should go back and revisit them ... whilst I only have 8 to worry about but my graphic skills aren't best.

Thanks for the tips! It took me years to get to 100 subs but I’m approaching 1,000 now since I started to spend more time editing and creating catchier thumbnails. My niche is food/travel in Japan so I feel my competition is high but I won’t give up because it’s what I love to do. Eat, explore, and share my adventures. If you feel giving up don’t, eventually your channel will get discovered if you keep pumping out good content!

If y'all ever need some help on the music side of it all feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to give you whatever solid advice I've learned. There's a lot of people on here that will sell you a false dream. My general advice is to do everything with integrity as much as you can and when you eventually reach the top you can be proud of what you earned.

@vidIQ - just want to say thank you for all the content you push out helping us all, every time I watch a VidIQ video, gives me more motivation to keep going & not get disheartened, I find it hard to detach from the effort/time I put into making something with all the editing and thumbnail crafting and these things, which relate into not great views etc ….& obviously your first videos etc will be trash, it’s learning and growing to progress ..but I always get a lot of extra motivation from your videos/channel
    So Thank You! 🤘🏻

    Have seen it...
The algorithm brought me off after 5 videos. Probably because I liked the own shorts with some of my old private accounts.
    What should i do?
Tried everything with name and hashtags.. all my my shorts are out of the algorithm, even the quality gets much better.. what should i do? New account and over edit all? Then i get my latest style in the first videos. Or does UA-cam have a problem with that?

Great video, nice to know that I have picked up on a few of these tips. Especially the multiple takes one. This has saved me a lot of time. I also found that numbering my script with takes helped immensely in the edit.
