I moved up to this area (Greenville) from Pittsburgh around 2005. I don’t remember it being open at any time. The sign advertises phone cards. I also remember there being a McQuaid’s gas station in Youngstown on North Meridian Road and it closed up a long time ago.
I work across from that Abandoned Gas Station. I actually see that building almost every day from work and on my way home from work. I work at Donofrio's Food Center, a family owned Grocery Store, which has the best Hot Foods in Hermitage. The grocery store has a big smoker which makes BBQ Chickens and Ribs.
The irony...i literally drive past it everyday...i have to make a right, to turn towards that light right there! They really do need to get something there..
@@WallieB26 At the Hot Foods, they serve Fried Chicken daily, various foods on different days, I know on Fridays they serve fried fish. They have meatloaf, spaghetti, chicken tenders, garlic mashed potatoes, hot steamed vegetables, rarely hush puppies, pulled pork from the smoker used on Weekends in the Summer, and other various types of foods.
This was built as a colonial style Atlantic between 1965-68. Atlantic became ARCO by 1970 after merging with Richfield to become Atlantic Richfield Company, ARCO for short. The triangular dormer on the left with the little round vent as well as the cupola on the roof with the pointed white steeple all gives it away as an ARCO. The steeple originally lit up white. It was a 3 bay station and the bays were closed in when it was converted to a mini mart. The original office entrance was under that dormer. There were originally two bathrooms on the left side. One has been bricked up on this building, but one remains. I know because I'm born and raised in southeastern PA and there were tons of ARCOs around here back in the early 80s when I was growing up. ARCO left the east coast in 1985 and sold their stations in PA to a small company called Trans World Oil who rebranded them back to Atlantic. Trans World had financial problems and was bought out by Sunoco in 1988. They rebranded all the Atlantics, including this station, to Sunoco in 1995.
With the mini-steeple, you can see near the end of your video, looks like the building was a church at some point. Drove by there every day, having worked at Copyland. Stopped at D’onofrio’s often.
I almost wonder if that gas station might have been either Speedway gas station or Exxon at one point because I see lot of red so it makes me wonder it's one of those two but I am not 100% sure on that but I am just guessing 7:48
Chuck Neal's ARCO through the '70s. Sunoco was still open in 2005/2006 but I don't recall what year it closed. The vacant lot to south across Lamor Rd. was a Boron station. And there was a Texaco station on sw corner of that intersection, where Dollar General is now. There are photos on Vintage Aerial.
I remember that old gas station but it was running when I worked. I was a parts driver with shults ford from 2015 to 2018 in 2016 I worked the Sharon/ new castle run and if I had to deliver to penn power up the road from there I would pass a Sunoco prior to going into Sharon. I was only on the Sharon run for 9 months before they swapped me out to beaver county. When I started to go back into the area I was working for a nuclear pharmacy and was delivering to Sharon hospital ( the main hospital in the area that was a for profit hospital) I was coming from the I-80 side of things this time and I didn’t see the place close
@@WallieB26 If you like Christmas light displays during the holidays you need to check this place out .... Lots of little souvenir shops it's worth the ride.
We have a abandoned Sunoco gas station in Waynesboro VA that also used to be a Coastal before Sunoco bought Coastal. That Sunoco got robbed a number of times then closed but we still have another one in town.
They need to bring those public phones I miss those but since people now has smartphones they got rid of them thing they shouldn't never gotten rid of them I used to called my mommy from those phones when I was walking
Again you're in my old stomping grounds area. Used to go to Sharon/Hermitage on a regular basis. Like another commenter said, hope you got to visit Kraynak's.

Abandoned gas stations are always cool. You should come up to Lancaster, PA for a day or two the outlets really took a hit and there’s a lot of closed shops. The Rockvale Outlets, or as the call it now Shops @ Rockvale, are more than half empty but as usual some have windows covered over. There are a good amount to check out, some with good label scars. I checked out the closed Ruby Tuesday (excellent label scar on that building), Bob Evans, Lenox Outlet, and Lancaster Food & Gas. You might find a golf ball at the gas station since there’s miniature golf next store. Just park at Ruby Tuesday and you can walk to them all, I drove because I didn’t feel like walking in the heat. There are a lot of closed shops up and down that road. If you go I hope you can check out the resort across from a Dutch Wonderland, both times I as there were people hanging around and they are repurposing the building so it was a no go for me. There’s a decent amount to check out. Not to mention all the covered bridges in the area.

My boy does the meat smoking and a lot of cooking at donofrios. Ironically, he also plays in a band called meat department.

Good video! You don't see too many abandoned Sunoco places anymore! Or even a pay phone nowadays!

Have you done a video on the old bp gas station at the top of 3 degree rd and perry highway? I wish that gas station was still there
I wanted to but it's all boarded up. Can't really see inside. Plus I have heard it is supposed to become another business soon.
