    It looks like your sway bar bushings are shot also ..the ones that end of sway bar plugs into. They are pressed in..but are fairly cheap and can be removed without removing all the stuff you just put in..

    You measure from the inside of the rim. To the other side. Front and Rear..I use an old curtain rod.
    And have fun with them Ball Joints...You have to drive the bottom out first. Just to get at the upper. As the bottom opening is bigger..But mine is super tight now..I would add. Don't mix them camber bushings up... They have to go back where they were...

    One of the reason this happens is because people don't keep their tie rod ends and steering linkage grease fittings greased on a regular basis. Lube with every oil change and these will last much longer.

    Thank you for passing on you're tips and experience. I am right there brother, new steering assy. installing now, with upper and lower ball joints on order (for later), but first got to get the "bread and butter" work van back on the road!

    May I ask where you shopped for parts? Ford uses the same components for decades but I'm having trouble finding my 45 year-old Econ. Thanks in advance for your answer.

      I think I got them at autozone. But have you tried rockauto.com or Amazon
      But be careful on Amazon Chinese junk. If you go on Amazon, try to get moog or Bosch brand.

      @@TORCHBROTHERS Thanks for getting back so quick. Rock Auto has a limited selection for my year. I'm trying now to compare part #s to determine how long they used the same components. That would make Moog easier to find.

    How close was your alignment?
    Thanks nice video. very helpful. doing mine next weekend.

    • @TORCHBROTHERS
      @TORCHBROTHERS  Рік тому +1

      My alignment was not that great. Even though I did not move the truck in any way it was still off. It started to burn the outer edge of the tires. So I had to take it in for an alignment. It was only about $100 I would highly suggest getting it done so you don't burn up your tires. Money well spent. Good luck my friend. Glad my video helped. Thanks for watching.

    Pretty basic overlook. Great for amature at home mechanics. If youve worked on your own vehicles before this pretty much lays out and shows you exactly what youll need and need to do. My dad hit a pothole and ripped the inner tie rod off the outer tie rod. We couldnt believe it. Heading out now should be done in an hour thanks to the overview here

    Thanks brother. I’m doing this job today, unfortunately in the rain that turns to snow later tonight, but this helped a lot. Just wondering how long it’s going to take.

    Bad radius arm bushings on those vans are famous for causing a death wobble

      @TORCHBROTHERS  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, but you may have another issue , unbalanced Tire, bent rim, possible warped rotor. Or maybe even a caliper bolt broken or missing

    • @TORCHBROTHERS
      @TORCHBROTHERS  5 місяців тому

      Nope. Best not to so you keep alignment as close as possible. But I ended up having to get an alignment anyway after noticing some tire wear.
