bikini kill on the side of the us capitol bldg spring or summer 1992. this was shot by crazy rob and cia sean(or shawn) and edited by yours truly. not many people have seen this. great quality.
The sucky sound is part of the meaning. Especially years later. Sometimes the passion is distracting, but the environment around it is what's important.
Tobi is the Drummer of BK, but she sang some songs she is on vox on the second song Billy is playing drums. She was a sick drummer! She hits hard as shit.
Oh its all about Tobi. She is a serious fucking badass. Also love that after the first song all you can hear is the small group of riot grrrls cheering. Everyone is just looking around like 'WTF?!?!'
As the famous saying goes 'if you haven't got anything nice to say just fuck off' If you don't like the music/video/crowd/band whatever, why do you think anybody gives a shit what you think? Kathleen Hanna has been an inspiration to so many young women, giving them confidence to speak up and express themselves. Bikini Kill aren't about technicalities they are about the cause and the message, they are raw and inspiring and misunderstood by so many narrow minded men. Long live Riot Grrl!
Thanks Shaman, great vid, ive only ever seen the really terrible quality one of this gig. I agree with monkeynails, i would do anything to have been there!! The only band in the world that gives me goosebumps, thanks again x
Any guy or girl can like whatever music they want to. Although me and you like this surely you can see that this doesn't suit everyone. You can believe in equality just as much and listen to folk or reggae or whatever.
Weird that they don't name Everett True in Hamster Baby. I used to love stuff like this but now I can't understand why anyone would listen to it for pleasure.
those days in DC were pretty awesome. i was at this show as well. didn't Fugazi play after BK-maybe it was a different day? I saw Slant 6 play in some house in DC once that totally fucking rocked. sorry..just reminiscing a bit
I would agree with your point but as I recall, Dudebros didnt wear ballcaps much in 1992. not like they do now. they usually had their hair kinda fluffy and would NEVER wear a hat.
I saw them in City Garden in Trenton when I was 16 and I'll never forget. Lied & told my parents I was going to some mall in Jersey. She gave me the Kathleenage Heinous Buhnanus effect that I still feel today.no emoji alive to convey that!!!
@@leebyrne6900 she always sings lyrics a lil differently in shows but I think this song is off the Revolution Girl Style album... I think its red with a heart on the cover. If your into chick hardcore bands... check out The Lunachicks, Huggy Bear, The Voluptuous Horrors of Karen Black, and Amyl & the Sniffers!!! They're all fuckin dope with different sounds
oh yeah?? guess what, it's me, your hero DAVE GROHL! that's right, the foo fighters singer in the flesh. and i'm outside your door right now, singing "there goes my hero" in a faint whisper. also, i'm a dragon! boogity boo! it's me, the drave grohl dragon of punk's past!
I've owned a compilation CD of theirs for years but this is the first time I have seen them performing live. They are simply incredible. Thanks so much! BTW Whatever happened to them? Is Kathleen Hanna still around?
Kathleen released two albums with her band The Julie Ruin, their debut was released in 2013. Bikini Kill have been touring for the past couple of years and Kathleen's memoir 'Rebel girl' got published just a couple of days ago. 😌
dood! totally!!!111 i'm an executive too! i signed the ramones. i even LIVED with them once!!! yeah, kathleen is actually my sister and you got punked!!! dood! i can't believe you're the 1,834 person i fooled with my fake latvian profile! also, i was an original member of nirvana! music changes! but band names i've read on reissued tshirts at hot topic never die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111
firstly dont call me dude xD, secondly my eyes are wide opened thanks. I know that a lot of bands ( like siouxsie and the banshees, joy division, ten year after, sparks or Crass )have meanings in their songs. That's just the way I feel when I listen to them. Maybe you could suggest me some bands :)
@bbygrrlable I am not sure whether you are quoting someone or saying it yourself when you say "Kathleen Hanna is a goddess." But, I don't think that Riot Grrrls were about creating goddesses to worship -- as in new heros to worship to replace the heavy metal guitar gods of the 80s. If I read this to mean that she is an empowered woman, then it is more acceptable, but Hanna wanted ALL girls to be empowered (or goddesses in that sense), but not necessarily over boys, but as their equals.
Oh really? They became little mothers huh, and learned their true place in the world? Give me a break. Many of them went on to get involved in politics, NGOs, became feminist activists, etc.
I think it's funny how previous posters have so much to criticize about BK's politics, boiling down to misrepresentation of 3rd wave Feminism, "needing to blame someone", etc. It's just punk music. Politics is part of the texture, but these people aren't theorists. They're musicians! Do you comment on Gang of Four videos for their oversimplification of Marxism too?
we need to show the young generation real women to look up to, now days you have eleven year old girls looking up to lady gaga the one person that brings in negative aspects of life and fame, no little girl in this nation wants to be a lawyer or activist in fact i'm pretty sure they don't even know what activist mean, they just want to be famous like beyonce, All i know is that i'do my best to show my lil niece the right way and show her kathleen hannah & angela davis
I really miss real bands that had something to say. I'd love to get a chance to see Bikini Kill again.
There playing in Oakland at burger boogaloo this year! 2020!!

I love that Tobi has a Nirvana shirt on, it reminds me of the days when the punk scene wasn't totally estranged from each other.
duuude wtf. She's wearing a Madonna shirt..
+sfjff1 It's Madonna not Nirvana
+sfjff1 Well, she did used to date him.
Pen man well that doesn't make her shirt a Nirvana shirt.
Tobi was Kurt´s gf for the " Nevermind" period , I think " Lounge act " is about her .

Same dude same I wanna make a kickass girl group
Honestly
a shitty horrible no talent musician? Aim higher

Bikini Kill is one of the best female bands ever. I fucking love Kathleen.
Per usual this is a wonderful live show. Superb band😀
Insolence +Insouciance + a rocking beat. Great band. More than punk. More than grunge. The sum of all our rage, frustrations and desires.

I can agree with the "Turn off your TV" sign, though.
Nowadays it's turn off your social media
Tobi screaming/singing.... I can't hahahahahahaha I LOVE BIKINI KILL!
Tobi is the bass player
My channel 15 drummer.
Actually, it is Toni singing/screaming in the 2nd song, and playing drums in the first.

Can’t sing. Annoying screaming 🥴
second song is 'Hamster Baby.'

It was Kurt Cobain who broke up with Tobi Vail, not the other way around. Vail herself has already confirmed this.
This is so good. thanks so much for sharing.
thank you for posting!
Bikini Kill is actually one of the rare bands who have some meaning in their songs.
This is true punk rock. This band kicks so much ass! Kathleen Hanna is hot, not just because she's pretty, but because she's brilliant and talented.
Thank you I love this!

Was this the show with Fugazi? Was so funny seeing all the tourists passing by with glazed looks on their faces.
Didn't fugazi perform at the same event? That would be a crazy ticket!
