Im a 50 year old female. I do security work, it’s easy and good money. It’s never anything physically challenging it’s just as a deterrent. Always work available if you want it.
And it's an area that needs responsible, mature people, not perky, silly 18 yr Olds.

I’m devastated for you Marissa. I know it’s easy to say, but it may be for the best. At the moment, we don’t know what ‘the best’ is, but I’m a firm believer in things do happen for a reason - it’s not always obvious at first, but it will become clearer over time. You will find something else, you have such strong determination. I am truly sorry about this, but I would be very careful about that company - contracts cancelling at the last minute - there’s more to it Marissa, I’m sure, you just can’t break contracts that have been agreed by both parties - unless they both want it to happen! I think this may be a blessing in disguise. Xxx

This just showed up on my feed & I wanted to give you a big hug. If you enjoyed your cleaning job you could always do this on a self employed basis & maybe get a few jobs in by advertising on social media or even a few hand written notes around your local area. When I was made redundant years ago now although it was devastating at the time it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I made my hobby my job & am now happier than I’ve ever been. I’m hoping the same will be true for you xx

Just came across your channel and subscribed. I'm so sorry. That was just wrong on all levels. How do they hire people based on a contract and then the contract just go away? I just don't believe that. A signed contract just doesn't go away 1 or 2 business days before it is to begin. That is horrible management on behalf of that company. Praying for you that something else comes up for you that is even better, more secure and pays double. Please let us know how you are doing.

I dont know you and I've only just found your channel. Firstly I am really sorry àbout what has happened hopefully something muçh better is out there for you and I am sure it is!!! Just try to focus forward and you will find what you are looking for! It is so sad how people are suffering, people walk past each other in the streets and never know what problems they are going through. If we are asked how we are, we alway just say, ' yes I'm good thankyou, but inside we may be really struggling, just like you are now. But keep your chin up and you WILL find what you're looking for. 🎉

You could claim JSA new style in the meantime whilst you look for work or UC, however if you have savings JSA would be better option. As long as youve paid enought nat insurance contributions you can claim for upto 6 months.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you but I truly believe that what is meant for you won’t pass you by xx I’ve been applying for jobs for over a year with no joy getting down to the last handful of applicants out of sometimes 200! And it’s been soul destroying so know you are not alone xx it’s hard out there atm but you are doing so well and always seem to get up and dust yourself down and crack on x keep going girl 💞

This is awful for you. I have had similar disappointments in the past. To protect myself I have multiple small jobs so that if one drops it's not a total disaster. Agency work would be possible short term.
What a terrible company to do that! If you have already signed the job contract I wonder if you can sue them?!

I’m so sorry this happened to you. If you have a department of labor go there and report them. It’s terrible the day before. Like they didn’t know this was coming. I call BS. Go after them as much as you can. Get compensated for your loss of time. Sorry. Hugs.

That was a horrible thing to do to you. Somewhere along the way, people in charge of businesses lose their humanity. They seem to not care that their actions affect other people's lives. Hi i found your channel by chance. Did you sign a contract with your new job with a start date, hours and salary before they said you were no.longer needed? Even if its verbal it might not be legal what they have done. You need to get advice from the citizens advice bureau or a solicitor that deals in employment. They normally will give you a quick free interview (on the phone) saying if its worth persuing for compensation. It might be worth a try. Definitely call the acas helpline i have just googled it and they can advise you for free.
Yes I signed a job offer with all of the details and completed on boarding so was given a start date. I’ll be calling citizens advice tomorrow!

If you signed a contract with new job you are still entitled to notice payment- even if its a week’s money. It happens often now, and really leaves you stuck, as cant sign on yet, cant go back so need to find something fast. The employers just dont care though.

Do you think your previous employer gave you a bad reference, I know legally they can’t do this but I have known prospective employers telephone current employers so there is nothing in writing and current employers give duff references because they are peeved employees are leaving! If you think about it companies don’t take people on unless any contracts are signed and sealed, I think it stinks personally!
No I do think this was a contract issue as I wasn’t the only one this happened to, there were several of us due to start who were let down at the last minute. It’s a very valid point though I think they have ways around it and could do bad references if they wanted to. I left on good terms and still speak to my old manager! Talk about passive aggressive- to inform an employee in an email is disgraceful. Highly doubtful it hurts them as much as you. They should have offered you several weeks pay for the failure to follow through on your employment.

media, is is my fear that people are truly LESS connected than ever.
This is just an opinion: perhaps you might contact the Department of Labor in your area. Check if there are any
laws that may apply to this. Did you have any written e-mails when they OFFERED you the Job? Did they put that
OFFER and state your Salary in any form of writing at all?? I would contact them anyway.
