I had this exact model back in the day (bought new around 2001/02) and did some good work on it until maybe 2007 or so. I still have it in a closet. I had the same approach with drums: just do a multitrack sub mix on a separate mixing board running into the phono inputs! Not a bad way to go, really.
As far as your files, I've actually taken the HD out of the unit and installed into an old windows computer using SATA connections in an attempt to recover data in the past. Its basically just a standard 20 gig PC HD in those BOSS units. It's been at least a decade since I've done this to remember how successful I was, and I only did it once, but maybe there is still a chance to pull those corrupted files off that BOSS HD with some sort of data recovery program installed on your PC? I know you've since "initialized" the unit, but the data should still be on there.
The good news, If I remember correctly, when I did this, I WAS actually able to play wav files off the Boss's drive when installed in my PC. The bad news is, being non-linear digital recoding, any punch in is going to be a separate file (just like in your DAW's data pool) plus your tracks are going to be self contained files and not have any sort of sync/grid data associated with them to help them lineup with each other once you get them into your DAW. This might not be too much of a problem if you did tracks in one or two takes. If you did a lot of punch ins and things of that nature, its going to be a mess of files to sift through and might be challenging to line things up. Might still be worth thinking about.
Unrelated to you file woes, but relevant to your video, I personably have had success pulling stems off my BR1180 simply by connecting the unit up to my DAW and syncing the BR and my PC via MIDI clock. You can get two tracks off the BR1180 at a time, by hard panning two specific tracks and sending them through the analog outs into a stereo input on your interface. Set your BR and DAW to the same tempo. Just "zero" out the BR and your DAW to the first bar and hit play on the BR and record on your DAW tracks. Midi clock will make sure you're in sync. Yeah, sure, you are going from digital to analog back to digital, so its not the cleanest way from a signal degradation perspective but its a lot more efficient than the "data export" function that you tried on the BOSS.
Hope at least some of this helps and is coherent, haha. Best of luck!

I should mention, if you do end up hooking the boss's HD to your PC and ARE able to recover some sort of data, there is a chance BOSS will using some weird file format (possibly some proprietary format) for the audio files that is different than the .WAV container. I might be making this part up, since like I said, I haven't attempted this for like 10-15 years, but if that IS the case, try simply renaming the file from the "proprietary" BOSS file type to .WAV and the file should play on your PC/DAW. I know this sounds insane, but I am pretty sure this might have been the case for me back in the day. Some true mad-scientist stuff to be sure.

That’s very encouraging! I run a Mac so I might have to find a PC that I can try this out with. But thank you very much for your input and suggestions! This could possibly work!

Sorry for your loss. I've been there with computers. I still think the BR series of Boss recorders are capable recording devices.

Dana, can I pick your brain, oh wise collector? Of all those old-School digital recorders, which one is the best in your estimation and where you can still somehow completely finish the song and then transfer the finished song/WAV/mp3/data file onto a computer/laptop etc.?
I owned the “holy grail” of the bunch over at my dad’s house in Europe but it was too expensive to ship over here to the States : namely, the Akai DPS 24. I continue to wean myself off the computer route because everything tech is becoming “for rent” and I still want to record my songs on one of these self-contained all-in-one devices, for free without ever having to update my hardware etc. I like the slow, methodical, snail-paced workflow. I save old laptops so I can do this without ever going online. The machine has to include a Mastering option. What comes close to the Akai in your estimation, but without breaking the bank?
