I went to trucking school with a couple guys from africa got to spend quality time and learn about there up bringing a lot of them had very short childhoods and are just trying to live a better life.

@@johnfrench6564 I was an owner-op. Maybe that's his GROSS, but his NET after expenses and taxes is FAR less. Subtract truck payment, taxes, fuel ($350-600 per day), permits, tolls, personal expenses on the road, etc. He doesn't put $140k in the bank. Also truckers LIE about what they make. I remember company drivers claiming they made $100K a year when they worked for companies that paid 22 cents a mile. Do the math.

@@nikowabantu6216 Exactly. Truckers are restricted to how many hours we can work per week. An owner-op banks as profit less than half his gross pay anyhow. Expenses are very high. I made more than most because I bought a cheap cabover and not a $150 new truck. The reality is that many drivers lie about what they make for ego reasons. The rest of us honestly bitch about how little.

These guys are definitely making their home in the trucking industry. what you dont see is how they poop in plastic bags and leave it on the ground. If its warm outside they skip the bag and simply shit on the parking lot between their truck and trailer. go to a truck stop and look around the lot. These guys wont use a trash can. They have no clue about the unspoken rules and etiquette that used to be common place in our industry.

Pay your fuel, taxes, insurance, maintenance etc and they see how much is left to the driver.
Gross or Net,you missed the point that, with only a high school diploma or GED,America is the only country in the world where you can easily make over $100k a year.

Trucking around the US is a challenge today. Old out dated mentalities of white truckers can make trucking around the US horrible. White truckers are hated everywhere.. even at America's Big Shopping Bag Wal-Mart. Their reputations of being nasty with their human waste from urinating on the public grounds of customer parking lots, to leaving trash and even human waste is now following the white trucker everywhere they drive their Semi trucks...let alone the number of motor vehicle accidents white truckers cause which is a whole different story. In many ways, I'm glad I'm not a white trucker as it will probably get even worse for them in the future. Good.
