Thank you for recommending mounting the bumper before reinstalling the nose cover. I tried it because it was so easy to mount the bumper without the cover. I was skeptical that the bull bar would allow enough room to get everything back in place especially since I trimmed and reused the left and right air dams but it worked just fine.
Great install video brother, I'll be saving this one as my bumper should be shipping this week. Ordered at the beginning of December so I'm more than excited, only issue I ran into is the Warn EVO VR 10-S got recalled so I'll be waiting another 90+ days for it.
I’m 6hrs away from shop. I’ll be taking my rig there to install. I hate to see you had shipping issues. People just don’t care anymore. You did a great job though 😎
I am surprised that there was an issue with the bolts included with the lightbar... You would think since you have to select a specific bar the correct hardware would be included, which lightbar option is that? Hope mine works without having to mess with it.
@@theoverlanded Just got my bumper in and SSO is now including shorter bolts specifically for the light bar to fix the issue you had. In case anyone is looking at getting one.
@@Slow_AZ_TRD Yes, I see 2 black shorter bolts that came with the bumper bolt set. They fit in the Heise 30" bar, so I'm going to assume that's what they're for.
The plastic bumper off gives better access to bolts, however is there play in the mounting bolts to adjust SSO bumper after install to level or improve body lines? I saw that in other videos? I am also concerned about weight and contemplating the necessity of a winch. How has your lift improved the droop?
There really isn’t much adjustment of the bumper. The bolts on the radiator support really dictate the position of the bumper. There was droop with the weight of the bumper plus the winch. However, I now have an adjustable, aftermarket lift installed, so no more droop.
Yep. I was nervous. Just take you time. Measure multiple times. Don’t take too much off at once. You can always cut more off. You can put more Mack on once it’s gone.
Looks really good. I have a 21’ TRD coming in soon. I have a couple of questions. Does the bull bar interfere with your front sensor? Also, how much did the whole set up squat the front end after install vs. stock? Thank you!
The bull bar does not interfere with TSS if you get the bumper version for the 2020 or newer. The weight of the winch and bumper did drop the front end a bit. I have since installed an aftermarket lift suspension though.
How much off roading do you do and how has this bumper/winch combo increased your 4Runner’s capability in such use? For example, how often has your winch been used to extract yourself or others? In other words, has the juice been worth the squeeze?
I tend to go wheeling solo. Because of that, I need to be able to get myself out of any trouble I get into. That said, I’ve used my winch 100% of the time recovering someone else. In my opinion, you can’t have too many tools in the tool chest.
Do you think this bumper would be compatible with the 2022 Off road premium with the front camera? The camera is located directly above the front sensor. Does the bumper affect your radar cruise control at all? If not, I assume the camera would also be relatively unaffected by the bumper. It looks like there is enough room, but it’s hard to tell.
Great video. Did you have to drop/remove the TRD Pro Skid Plate? I know on their instructions it says to but just wondering if you had to at all since its not in your video.
@@theoverlanded Awesome thanks. I assume you are still happy with your purchase? They are having some BF sales going on and really looking to order one.
Yes. It has been a great bumper. I even added on board air and attached the hose quick connect to the bumper, making it accessible though the holes in the bumper. I made a separate video on that
The bumper and the winch do add weight to the front end. The impact of any droop or “feeling” will depend on your suspension setup. I have since installed a 3” lift on my 4Runner and have tuned the suspension to accommodate the additional weight.
I`m planning on this same bumper for my 2020, doesn1t make me feel to good to see the problem`s you had. I expected more from SSO!!! did you contact SSO and what was their response?
I've hit enough deer to know don't skimp on bumpers do a full bumper remember bumpers are to protect your investments the more protection the better ARB deluxe or summit for the never yotas
So much extra weight. Not everyone needs the full protection upfront that a full bumper provides. Would it be nice to have if hitting an animal, aboslutely! But most of the time that is not why we add a bumper. I am doing it for a better approach angle, winch and a light bar that is not mounted to the top of the vehicle as I do not want a full length roof rack.
You have great videos and your attention to detail is on point.

What is the nose cover? I didn't understand what he was talking about in the end that he wished he did differently.
Great video! Very informative and lots of great detail. The bumper looks amazing!
Thanks for the video. Got my install planned for next weekend

I think these were just generic, non-application specific bolts they included. I went with the 30” Heisse lightbar option.

How much sagged you get with the winch and that lo pro bumper. You have a 3rd gen overland 4r and what that 5th gen gonna do

Do to the weight of the bumper and winch how much drop did the front have after a install?
nice work ...i am going to build my 2022 off road and looking for some good advise
Hi, great video. If I do not add the winch, would there be any noticable droop in the front end with just the factory suspension?
Definitely less weight without the winch. Might not be noticeable.
Thank you for the video.
How nervous were you during the instal? lol. Just got a 23 TRD Off Road Premium and Im looking to install the same rig. Im scared shitless.

@@theoverlanded Thanks for the video. I was curious as to what lift did you end up installing? And any issues with TSS?
No KDSS ON THE TRD Pro.
I installed the ToyTec Boss 2.5 full suspension.
@@jfeltech1 no issue with TSS.

I would recommend you reach out to Southern Style Off Road and ask them if they have a version that is compatible. They are great to deal with.
Great video. Did you're front end lower from the added weight of this bumper? And if so how much?
I did notice a slight drop with the stock suspension. I now have a beefier suspension setup.
Great video. Did you have to drop/remove the TRD Pro Skid Plate? I know on their instructions it says to but just wondering if you had to at all since its not in your video.
I didn’t have to touch the TRD skid plate. The SSO bumper has a plate that needs to be removed to accommodate the TRD skid plate.

Question. It looks like you have the adaptive cruise control, does this bar interfere with your adaptive cruise control?
It does not interfere.
Awesome
Does the weather strip come with the aftermarket bumper? Or did you buy it separately?
It came with the bumper.
Did the weather stripping come with the bumper or is that something you purchased?
The molding came with the bumper. I did not have to purchase it separately.
Could you elaborate, if the extra weight changes the suspension feeling in the front?
The bumper and the winch do add weight to the front end. The impact of any droop or “feeling” will depend on your suspension setup. I have since installed a 3” lift on my 4Runner and have tuned the suspension to accommodate the additional weight.
Do you by chance show me how you routed your remote?
The winch I purchased has a wired/wireless option. I use the access hole on the left side facing the number to connect the cable, if needed.
I`m planning on this same bumper for my 2020, doesn1t make me feel to good to see the problem`s you had. I expected more from SSO!!! did you contact SSO and what was their response?
The issues I ran into were minor and easily overcome. No, I didn’t contact SSO. They make a great product.
How much does it cost for the part?
How much do you think the bumper & winch weigh??
SSO states that the bumper weighs 60 lbs. Amazon states that the winch weighs about 100 lbs.
How much did the hole set up cost
You can look up the current prices using the links in the description.
What size for that light bars? Thx
30”
