I loved your video! I heard to prune in April. Blooms on last year's growth too. But I also liked your philosophy of "the little tree". Very informative. You took my pruning fear away. Thank you.
@@dougspence7298 Theres many years of knowledge Kevin has to share.Where to begin.Proper tree planting, picking a good tree for certain locations ,checking root system for girdling roots(before planting), and best soil conditions.First couple years of care for tree.Diagnostics when tree has issues and what to use to care for them.Im thinking of one spot that has everything a home owner needs.Thats a tall order I know Thank you for asking and have a good day!
Excellent video THANK YOU. This is exactly the info I was looking for! Super practical, great information along the way, and finally how to make a mature lilac look great and not cutting it down to the ground! 🤗🤗
When you are treating a taller lilac, would you just do some pruning cuts to start with and then the following year, take out a bit more. And, to reduce the height, do you do heading cuts or just wait the following year and take the more decadent stems? Thanks….
Previous owners put one in that is right up against the house and is in-between the house and walkway. I don't want to remove it but feel like it's always being cut back a lot to contain it. Didn't get to it last year and it's blooms are beautiful. Any suggestions for that situation?
I had a 60 year old lilac tree. It was growing onto the neighbors fence wooden fence. They were concerned it would ruin the fence so I cut it down. I cut the whole thing down and guess what the next year the damn fence all fell down it rotted out and the wind just took it right out. I am so sad every year some Mexican family would come by and say, can we have flowers? I would always let them take the flowers.
Kevin, please make more videos! I learned more from this video than I did over 2 years of watching lilac pruning videos.
Thank you, finally a video that actually talks about the ideal shape for a lilac.
Best video on pruning lilac thanks!
Fantastic information about how to do it right. You helped me out a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. 😊

I'm trying to find a vid about pruning a nannyberry tree
what is the brand of that japanese pruning saw that you use? thank you.
Maple tree or a lilac?
Super pruning instructions, but hard to hear!
Would you prune a Josie Reblooming Lilac or Little Miss Kim the same way? I fear having it look like heck permanently.
