Both games are beautiful. The one from January had some nice windmill action, but luring your opponent to a losing royal fork takes big time. I #vote for Stavroula.
The game by Max was very good. But I definitely prefer this one. There is something magical about walking into a fork like this one. Kudos to Stavroula for an amazing game.
What a sad moment for a player, when even the strongest move recommended by the engine (in which you grab your opponent's queen!!) is still not enough to win.
engine is correct, the player blew it. instead of 8:20 Qxh1 she should make f5. then Rxh5 Kxh5 if Rh1 then Kg5 if Nxg7 Rf7 and either white knight or bishop will be lost.
@senneverhave2589 You BLUNDERED into a legendary victory!😂😂 Frankly, if you realised it was a royal fork after making the move I think you would have had a heart attack and resigned rather than play on😅. I would've. My brain didn't even consider Qg3 at all. Even now, after seeing and knowing that it was the best move my hand mutinees when my brain tells me to make that move. You need more than "Hearts and Minds" for this one. You also need "Stavroulium" Something tells me that for Stavroula this was just "Tuesday".🎉 From now on I will treat all GMs with distrust because even if they offer me a royal fork I might still resign 6 moves later😂😅 Respect to Stavroula and Nataliya for a game I'm never going to forget!🎉😊
Max's sacrifice was stunning and the tactics flew everywhere, but it feels like with that initiative you can almost see it coming. Stavroula's sacrifice is just coldblooded. Straight up sacrificing your queen out of nowhere. Jergus was probably more like 'bruh... Really?' I can't imagine what Nataliya was thinking the moment she saw the move. #vote for Stavroula
In the movie "Revenge" Anthony Quinn told Kevin Costner, "I will never be a player" (tennis player). That is how this game makes me feel that I will never be a chess player. The depth of analyzing this queen move is something that I just cannot do.
Tsolakidou is a much better player than what her rating suggests. The last month she has won more than 50 elo points...She is a 2500 player for sure...Definitely GM level...
She won the World U14 Girls' Chess Championship in 2013, earning her Woman FIDE Master title in the process. She was awarded her Woman International Master title in 2014, and won the World U16 Girls' Championship in 2015. In 2016, she earned her Woman Grandmaster title, and won the World U18 Girls' Championship [info by wiki😁]
Thanks for a great presentation, agadmator! Both were great games obviously, I'll be voting for Stavroula's sacrifice. It was a moment of "Sacrifice or blunder?" as you put it. She deserves the title for 2023.
Prefer this one as a queen sacrifice is usually within forced mate in 2-3 moves afterwards maximum but this one also looks like a blunder at first sight which makes it extra beautifull I think
The queen sacrifices are different but both very nice. One with a royal fork and the other with a windmill. I personally like the other one better, because it's harder to get a position with a windmill effect.
This is the first time I've seen that deliberately setting myself up for a royal fork CAN be a game-winning formula. And the end result of the fork was the enemy knight and queen busily eyeing my king in the corner. Stavroula's nerves are made of pure adamantium! Or Stavroulium!❤😂 @agadmator, please just give this game the title!🎉🎉🎉 My brain can still not believe that Qg3 move!
I don't. She followed another game for 21 moves. then a couple moves later she sets up the engine move she studied and from there she knew she was winning. It's much better if it comes from their own creativity which I doubt this one was. Best engine sac of 2023 😅
@@hp7639I’m not sure exactly what you are stating I thought that was a Brilliant Queen sacrifice being able to see ahead that she will be able to pull off that knight Check and Bring a Rook to the h file very clever
@michaelmassaro4375 She followed a previous game exact moves for 21 moves. Meaning she memorized it. The queen sac came from the engine recommendation as it appears to be obvious in this game. So I believe it is brilliant if no engines were used but that's probably not what happened. I'm not trying to take anything from her as she is already a good player, but following move by move of another game for 21 straight moves and even repeating exact moves makes this one a no brainer that she used an engine for this queen sac and all else was not hard to remember as there is a forced mate or big material loss.
Buksa's sacrifice looks so strong until we see Tsolakidou's reply very good for both. I wonder if she found that during her preparation or over the board. In both cases, you truly need steel nerves to play it.
I don't find this Morphyesque, it's far too silent a move, there's almost no comparison as it's such a strange sacrifice which seems to defy logic, if anything I'd rather call it Aljechinesque, or maybe Fischeresque with a remote relationship to Bobby's famous Queen sac against Byrne.
Stauroula in this picture looks very similar to that actress that played in the Fringe series. initially i thought it was going to be some game that was shows during the series :))
Best one so far. To move my queen into a royal fork is against my brain stem function. I don’t think I could physically move my hand to move the queen to do that. It’s like reacting to a hot plate. No thinking required. Except here, it’s awesome Nice move
one round is left to be played before the announcement of the 2023 European Women’s Chess Champion and IM Meri Arabidze (GEO, 2433) and IM Oliwia Kiolbasa (POL, 2406) tie for the first place scoring 8 points, each.
Those 21 moves reminded me of Karjakin Vs Magnus Carlsen from the Norway Chess tournament where Karjakin won a brilliant game. But Stavroula is just a magician when it comes to finding crushing ideas with the white pieces.

that's what a studied engine move will do for you.
engine is correct, the player blew it.
instead of 8:20 Qxh1 she should make f5. then Rxh5 Kxh5 if Rh1 then Kg5 if Nxg7 Rf7 and either white knight or bishop will be lost.
It wasn't even a true queen sacrifice, it was a temporary sac, giving back the queen was forced.
Great thing about chess nothing is promised have to work for it
@@meocaott I can't follow all the variations after 'your' move, but it seems to be fairly sound? :)
I'm very proud of myself that I found the correct move without even seeing that it actually sacrifices the queen.
then in fact you didnt find it😁 or you found it by accident
No u didn't u just find the way to sacrifice .. u didn't know what's gonna happen bext

In that case, unfortunately, your queen move was lucky. The point is you have to see the queen sacrifice and then, the continuation. Sorry.
I can't imagine how anyone would even consider this move. Truly amazing sequence
only GMs. These people can see many many moves ahead
Stavroula's "pos tin petsokopses etsi" Tsolakidou Immortal Game! Greetings from Greece!
THIS IS A MASTERPIECE.
Bravo to both players.
“Not that it is important, but it is visually appealing”. Maybe agad’s best line ever

I love the way she plays chess. I never understand why she's doing what she's doing, but it's so beautiful to watch when I finally understand.
This is my favorite queen sacrifice ive ever seen. marvelous
This is art. Put it in the Hal Of Fame for the Greatest Queen Sac of 2023
Both are great. This one is the best IMHO
Great pronunciation of the Greek name, my man!
unbelievable - amazing!!!

bravo stauroula. sacrifice Queen MASTERPIECE.
Stavroula 'Anastasia' Tsolakidou ❤🔥
I see agadmator notification, I click😊
You are the best chess commentator I've seen online. 👍
thanks for the video, excellent

WOW! Bish bash bosh!
Fancy! Love it! Added to my chess vest games playlist!
wow, just wow. Qxf6 by Nezmethdinov and this i like that
Oh man, this is heroic by her, finding this checkmate with the queen sac. Crazy stuff!!
yeh... that was one for the history books. Spectacular.
Very nice!🎉
I did not know when I clicked this video I would be shouldered with responsibility of such magnitude.
Thank you for analyse!
Wow that is some crazy preparation 😮
Bravo Stavroula!!! Always with wins and brilliant moves for your career! Good luck with next games!
Great!

what a brilliant move
This was the best, thank you for bringing this to us!
I very rarely drop my jaw but this was absolutely insane
I keep rewatching magnus's sacrifice against anish. Hope this one can finally replace that
Was that the 3 piece exchange for the queen, right?
Rashid queen sacrifice is more brilliant
9 points for 9 points, not a sacrifice
@@0FFICERPROBLEM It is.
@@0FFICERPROBLEM Yeah I remember when anish blundered and didn't capture Magnus' queen
BRAVO Stavroula.❤❤
thanks!
Dude, speaking from the heart, it makes my day when u upload a video.
I appreciate you showing great matches played by women., makes a nice change to hear about women GMs and see what they are playing.
Slowmo for this move is definitely well deserved 👍

Μπράβο Σταυρούλα . Φοβερή κίνηση!! Ειδες τουλάχιστον 4 κινήσεις μπροστά. Και πάλι μπράβο!!
This one gets my vote for the GQS
She's Good.
Definitely the queen sac of the year. Such a beautiful and precise calculation
Stavroula has surely made her name on top in the greatest queen sacrifice ✌️👍
plz keep this one...amazing stuff.
That previous was beautiful
when you're dealt a straight flush but your opponent is dealt a royal flush
Thanks for covering!!
Clearly this one is my favourite
Yep, this one wins. So much more precise. It's the definition of elegance (and perhaps brutality).
Great game! Wow. Thanks.
The astonishing moment when you find the winning move, because you didn't see the Royal fork. 😅

you cant make preps for every possible situation...

Stavroula's game plan was the best.
What a game! 🔥
This was exceedingly well played. I vote for this game.
A Sorceress in disguise! Pure freaking Magick!
That's really smart chess right there, you can't make a queen sacrifice unless you have a good contingency for it.
Stavroula's playing gr8 lately
Woooooow!!! That queen sac was awesome!!
Stavroula always has the fun games!!
wow - deliberately walking into a fork that loses your queen -- great stuff!
Incredible game! Definitely this one!
You know what, I found QG3 without knowing there will be a fork lol

Nice move
I would've played that queen move, but didn't see the royal fork, lol
Nice when a blunder turns in to a win 😂. I missed that fork completely, not realising the Q sac was part of the plan.❤😊
Proud to see our Greek girl doing great! Greetings from Greece!
Great stuff!
I saw the position, and saw Qg3, but I did it as a full blunder, completely missing the knight fork. as I do.
I did the same !
The Responsibility of choosing ( 0:41 ) is too heavy upon my shoulders so I choose the Howard Staunton strategy and cowardly run away.
*WHAT* a move ...
Reminds me of Tal ,what a beautiful move.
No question about it. Greatest queen sacrifice of 2023
Nice sacrifice game
one round is left to be played before the announcement of the 2023 European Women’s Chess Champion and IM Meri Arabidze (GEO, 2433) and IM Oliwia Kiolbasa (POL, 2406) tie for the first place scoring 8 points, each.
We could probably call this one the Greatest Botez Gambit of 2023.
Very nice subtle sac
Those 21 moves reminded me of Karjakin Vs Magnus Carlsen from the Norway Chess tournament where Karjakin won a brilliant game. But Stavroula is just a magician when it comes to finding crushing ideas with the white pieces.
Karjakin (white) lost this game.
Mind-blowing! I'm throwing all my gold coins on the board!
Has to be the Greatest Queen Sacrifice of 2023-the engines would agree!
I love queen sacrifices💫
Both are beautiful sacrificies. But because this one is more coming out of the blue (for me at least) I prefer this one for the greatest queen sac of 2023. I vote for Stavroula
I found both pause the game moments😭❤️
Ευχαριστούμε!
These moments when I fork my opponent's king, queen, rook and knight.
