Really good info for a rookie! Would like to know more about “pausing” a membership?
Kristie, they offer two memberships: month to month and annual. If you choose month to month, then you can stop anytime. Honestly, though, I much prefer the annual membership for a few reasons. If you wind up keeping your membership active for a year, the month to month is more expensive. Also, the annual membership runs your searches every 2 minutes, instead of every 5, and you can have up to 10 searches running vs. 5 for the monthly plan. Finally, the longer you have the search running, the better chance of getting the campsite. If your membership is interrupted, so is your search. Thanks for watching!
I am a little confused about the 2-minute and 5 minutes search in this regard. I am assuming the 5-minute search is a less expensive subscription than the 2-minute search, correct? So the 5-minute search subscriber should never be in front of the 2-minute search subscriber if they were not the first one to submit the search parameters. That's one of the reasons why one is paying a higher premium for the service. Why not make the 5-minute search every 4 minutes so that way every fourth minute it is joined by the two minutes search subscriber. That way the only decision would be who enter the search criteria into Arvie first. Rather than the one that's paying less premium and entered the search last, gets to be the one to make the booking, as described by the founder. If that type of scenario is allowed to occur, that's not fair at all.
The 5 minute search is with the monthly subscription, as opposed to the annual one, which comes with the 2 minute search. Which is more expensive depends on how long you subscribe. If you plan to use the service for a full year, the annual plan is less expensive. I think, if I understood Mark’s answers correctly, the system is designed to give the 5 minute subscribers a fair shot (although, given the decreased frequency, not an equal shot) at getting a spot because once in a while the spot will open up just after Mr. 2-Minute’s search has run, but before Mr. 5-Minutes runs. All I can say, as an annual (and therefore 2-minute) subscriber, is that I have had great success. Their customer service email responses are very timely, so I’m sure if you have remaining questions, you can ask them and they’ll answer pretty quickly. Thanks for watching Amore Van!
