How can this robot understand the concept of "Jack" or "highways," "traffic" or "highly complex traffic situation," I feel like the interview was pre - programmed
Well, thats actually what it says in the video...
It says from speech (not being rude legit question)? But how could it see a (through windows with other complicated things like a control panel in the way, or see a "highway" on a control panel and understand/associate it with what the car [how could it understand that] is doing?) highway which can take all types of shapes, colors, sizes, for instance (I doubt it has a specific, accurate, algorithim for just highways), and recognise it?

I think they programmed some responses just for the sake of getting the interview done in one take during the autonomous period of driving...but, the ability to "observe and report" in conversation is not at all beyond the capabilities of a computer.
CrapnellGates it's beyond at least modern technical capability to recognize arbitrary things especially in different forms at least accurately and be able to talk about them and talk about their attributes, a computer could not talk about them in the same way a person could either, but I do think the responses are programmed for the interview specifically

Google's project Soli has shown the ability to do exactly that...recognize arbitrary things in different forms.
I would also say we should separate what is available to the public at this moment from what the hard technological limits are. There's more than one company with a quantum computer, almost every major tech company has research divisions that they keep private...and then there's the whole ocean of research and technology in the military.

the video could have been scripted and even if wasnt scripted, just pay attention on how the video is edited, you dont see one long take of the actual conversation but there are cuts after every question.
I find it so cool on how he’s having a complete conversation without any hesitations. Her responses are also very cohesive and are about the same as a regular human-to-human conversation - thank you Kanye, very cool!

I'm always up for a good units scuffle. I have a better intuitive concept of how far a mile is, but I like the concept of a kilometer better. I wish I had grown up knowing meters and kilometers. looking around me I can intuitively say that's 2 meters or that's about 5 meters, but for some reason I can't really do that with kilometers but I can with miles.

I have (sort of) been "binge watching" Sophia videos over the last few days and I have to say this is definitely one of my favorites!!
On a technical note, I would have run the audio (From this recording of the 2 "individuals" speaking) through a bit of compression with maybe a bit of filtering (actually, utilizing audio AI of sorts! - an intelligent noise reduction program, such as "Izotope") to filter out the car/background noise. It's true that nowadays, there are a number of technical ways to take the audio (even after it's recorded) and make it clarified and brought to the forefront, which is what I would strongly suggest if you record in this fashion in the future. That said again, one of my favorite Sophia videos out there!
Hey voicetube, good ideas! I would add that this is such an important video, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to run the audio from this video through filtering programs etc. and posting this video AGAIN, with the clarified audio - that would be EPIC!

Anyway, yeah you could have two duplicates of your video's audio in a daw or editing software. If they're synced perfectly in time, you could invert the polarity of one of the signals and at this point the two signals cancel out each other and fall silent. Then on one of the tracks you could use a gate that only plays at levels below the spoken voice, provided that there's enough difference in level between when someone speaks and when only car noise can be heard. Then the inverted track would only work to cancel out audio when no one speaks, canceling out car noise. But, on the other hand, keeping noise in whatever you record isn't always that bad because it maintains a natural continuous thing to listen to.
Sorry for the long response, but your comments about using a compressor sorta jumped out at me as this would actually make it more difficult to cancel out noise if that's what your after. Because this would actually squash dynamic range such that car noise is louder and voice is quieter. I just wanted to bring to light some options that might give better results since audio engineering is a passion of mine as you can probably tell 😅

Secondly, i’m not trying to intone that they have to make a “Hollywood production“ out of fixing the audio; just taking it through something maybe like RX6 (Izotope), isolating the car noise… ducking it a little bit (of course not taking it out completely, as getting rid of ALL the car noise would sound a little “robotic“ [pun semi-intended :-] and THEN adding a little bit of compression, to better hear what Sophia is saying).
Now, of course they would add the compression AFTER taking down the car noise, LOL!- (otherwise, you just have beefed-up car noise, along with everything else, which might well be counterproductive).
In any event, I only made my (somewhat verbose) comment in the first place, because this is possibly my favorite of all the Sophia videos (and there are a LOT of Sophia [robot] videos out there now).
I just felt that this particular video was potentially worthy of a little audio doctoring :-)

Leafy_Cynical It's not that advanced yet, the reason they're doing this (besides showing off) is basically teaching the robot by typing a script and verbally asking questions and I'm guessing it was programmed to record and recall the phrases. It'll take a pretty long time if they're trying to make a full on conversational robot (without a controller), plus I doubt the robot can actually walk so that'll add to how long it'll take to perfect it

After seeing a lot of back to back Sophia videos, I’d have to say that this shows one of the most impressive showcases of how her social interaction has evolved.
