Other hip hop legends with complex and brilliant writing : Nas, Andre 3000, Rakim, obviously Pac and Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, then Kendrick Lamar from new generation. I would say you check out Sixteen by Rick Ross ft Andre 3000. Main verse is the feature of Andre 3000, Rick Ross is so so on the song but Andre 3000 is brilliant
First other rapper that comes to mind in terms of beautiful lyrics is 2Pac. Two songs that come to mind are "Dear Mama", and "Changes". Dear Mama is a love letter he wrote to his mom, and Changes is about seeing little changes in the world, but accepting that's how life is, but still working to make things better.
Eminem's mother was heavily addicted, she did give him and his brother a lot of illicit medication when they were kids which further increased his predisposition to addiction so eminem struggled heavily. I don't remember if she recovered but Eminem's albums Relapse, Relapse Refill, Recovery, and Revival are all themed around his sobriety journey as he was in and out of rehab. He hates the first two because he was trying to rekindle Slim Shady but Shady was fueled by drugs and anger that he didn't have anymore. Although, the song Beautiful from Relapse is amazing
Some of my favorite rap songs Kendrick Lamar- the blacker the berry Jcole- window pain Eminem- Deja vu, beautiful, whenim gone, castle and arose, difficult
You should check out Royce da 5'9" "Power". Royce and Eminem are both from Detroit and go way back, this song in particular is about Royce's childhood. The power and emotion in the words really make you feel stuff.
Here's another story from Em you should check it out!!! "97'Bonnie and Clyde" "Kim" "Bad Husband" --Fyi "Kim" is very explicit and its his most "shocking" track...very heavy track
To answer your question about comparable levels of lyricism from other artists, it's really tough to find people in Eminem's league when it comes to writing complexity and skill. Here are a few that do come to mind though: -Kendrick Lamar (Many of his songs are more poetry than traditional rap. Very unique) -Joyner Lucas (Unparalleled storyteller, fearless artist) -Nas (Another superb storyteller, very creative song themes) -Hopsin (Tortured artist, very self aware) -NF (Sorta like Hopsin but white lol) -Early 2000s Kanye West (Before he lost touch with planet Earth, he had the most relatable lyrics ever.) -Lil Wayne (If you can get past his cadence and voice, you'll hear really clever lyrics. What you're looking for is generally "lyrical rap". Works from other rappers I'd definitely recommend would be songs like "Your House" and "Alone With Me" by Hopsin. Also "When I Grow Up", "Story" and "Just Like You" by NF. I think those fit a style similar to what you enjoyed about Eminem's songs.
If you dont listen to em from start to finsh you will never fully understand alot of songs and references are so hidden in his words the man makes alot of sences and understand pain as he does hes a humam like us all.
@GiddyKitty PEACE AND LOVE FROM SWITZERLAND!!!!! If you want other personal songs (and he has a lot of them), then I recommend the trilogy about his ex-wife, 1. kim, 2. 97 bonnie and clide, and 3. bad husband (one of my all-time favorite em songs) ... or about his daughter 1. mockingbird , 2. when i'm gone, and you could also add 3. + 4. castle and arose ... and so on, and so on ... best thing is if you start somewhere with his older works and do an emotional roller coaster through his discography ... so far he had a perfect song for me for every emotional situation... P.S. No, this song was not made right sfter the first. cleaning out my closet is from 2002 and headlights from 2013 durig that time em made other songs where he mentioned his mother in degative way but at the end he comes whit this beautiful song!!! the opposit to this is the end of "leaving heaven" (about his genetic father right after he died)
You came up in my recommendations today...My birthday, and Ive subscribed, love seeing new listeners reacting to Hip-hop, guys listening to Rage Against The Machine for the first time after the political issues in America recently were really interesting, the reasoning for you staying away from Eminem hit me, cried a little about that. There's not many as lyrical as Em, but i guess there's some Hopsin you could react to. His newest song is Alone with Me and its quite deep. Joyner Lucas has some thought provoking songs too, Sorry is a song that deals with suicide, Im not racist is amazing and touches on how to have a conversation between people with certain views.
@@GiddyKitty Yea NF is a good choice. Juice WRLD would be an interesting one too as he is a very different sound to a lot of others, but then his live freestyle's are something else. He got a posthumous feat on Eminem's Godzilla track.
@@GiddyKitty Oh shit, I'm missing a few that are real good, they are underground too. Immortal Technique you could pick just about anything from this guy and its lyrical story telling with huge amounts of knowledge thrown in, and Vinnie Paz - You Can't Be Neutral On A Moving Train, and Brother Ali - Uncle Sam Goddamn
follow up Hopsin - Alone with Me Joyner Lucas - Im Not Racist and Sorry Yelawolf featuring Eminem - Best Friend (probably Em's best feature verse and goes into his growth since his Best friend Proof got killed) also if you want to go darker with Eminem, he done some what is known as Horrorcore songs on his relapse album, but they are lyrically brilliant Stay Wide Awake, and 3am. Stan and Bad Guy are excellent story telling songs that are joined, go into fame and having fanatical fans. Castle and Arose tell the story of the pressures he felt having to provide for Haillie and succumbing to that pressure and the loss of Proof by taking Drugs and Over-dosing.
@@GiddyKitty Dear mama and Brendas got a baby ... .. Brendas got a baby is a true story. But characters are fictional.. And dear mama is the type of song to make a grown man cry..

Hello - great idea, to react to Eminem when you aren't really familiar with his music. If I had a "wishlist" for seeing from you, I'd say you should maybe take on "Stan" (a true masterpiece of lyricism and THE song in the earlier 2000s) next. Mostly because it's from the same time-line as "Cleaning out my closet" and it also has a sequel, "Bad Guy", which is on the same album as "Headlights" is. So that would be appropriate. "Bad Guy" has a very weird beat, but if you give it a try, you'll understand by the end of the song why I hold it in so high regards. It's just ... It makes an impact. Oh, and also, I could really see you taking a liking to "Beautiful Pain" and "Guts over Fear", both songs that feature Sia, and there was already a long list on the first video about good songs for you.

Oblivion is my forte xD
Thank you so much for this detailed wishlist!❤️

Listen to godzilla so you brain cells can go negative
There is some rapper that you can react if you want some similar lyrics, Tupac (of course) and recently Kendrick Lamar (there are other, but im just gonna say these 2)
You should listen to Kendrick Lamar! He as well is very poetic
You should react to Kanye's earlier music. I think you would enjoy it as well (:
Aesop Rock is very complex as a lyricist and so is Lupe Fiasco, they're difficult to understand but very talented
