As a 21 year old owner operator. Definitely still learn cool stuff and tricks with equipment from people who run equipment also. Been running equipment since I could walk. Dad owns a construction company doing concrete. But me and him just opened a land clearing and forestry mulching company that does grading and same stuff you do besides ponds. We’ve got 2 299d3s and a 308. But like a side the little tricks how u got the tin off the side definitely slick and fast to not fight the wood. Learn a lot from watching others. Been watching you for a while now.
This so showcases your abilities with the 220. Utilizing the raw power of the machine to destroy the building and the fine, delicate use of the bucket & thumb to pick out individual pieces. This was a fun one, Chris. Thanks for sharing.
He's done similar demos before, with the occasional MobileMansion. His style is FAR cleaner and neater than just about anyone else I've ever seen. Some people make it look like heavy equipment marched through. Chris makes it look like nothing has ever been there. No building, no debris, no machines.
When you started the barn tear down with the 220 can opener, the thought crossed my mind, you have Bealy Good and now you have Peely good, looks like fun to me. Thanks for the update, enjoyed the change of pace.
Grand old barn has had its day. LetsDig18 Demo is a step by step process not just an attack - keep it neat and different 'bits' in separate piles for later dumping. Nice spot for a barn too - pretty.
Great job cleaning up the old barn. Looks like the last section was the original homestead turned into a barn. The old 220 is still accurate for doing fine work. I can understand why you say you're never selling it. Great video Chris.
This is a surprise, when you mentioned loading the 220 for a demo job I thought you were going to tear down the new/old house Geoff bought. Subcontracting parts out can get tricky - depends on who you get to do it.
It’s always a good video watching you demo an old building or barn, Chris! That’s a lot of tin on that barn!👍🏻💯 I guess it won’t be long before you have to demo the old house for Bealy and I believe you’re going to build a pond there too from what I remember!
As I was watching you tear this old barn down, it dawned on me that that old barn stood up pretty good to the mighty force of your excavator. Then I thought how quickly a tornado completely destroys a building in a matter of seconds.
I have watched Johnny Jett from Barnwood Builders do that with a telescopic forklift. Fun to watch the metal peel. Mind you, they were trying to save a log building.
By far some of the best content on UA-cam. Chris does a great job at operating all of his machines and videoing in the process. Feels like you are in the cab with Chris gettin it done. Soothes the mind or at least its does for me.
To think the Barn was a shelter from the elements until LetsDig 18 barely touched it ,just like butter melting away . All you need now Chris is that shredding machine that MrDigg is trialing on the land fill ,rent one and load it straight into a dump truck
It actually takes a lot of restraint to do a good demo, some would just plough through the building (you can knock that barn down in 10 seconds with that excavator size) but end up with a mess that takes the rest of the day to sort out.
These Videos Are A Nice Change Of Pace, It Looks Like You're Having A Good Time, No-No Having "FUN"!! Love It Brother, Keep It Coming!! Happy Fathers Day, if it applies!
I like the way he separates the sheet metal from the wood....pick it up, drop it, pick it up again, massage it a little with that metal claw, drop it into the truck. I love it! I had a 50 foot Chinaberry tree removed from my front yard, took 6 men and 4 truck.chippers to get the job done, Chris and the 220 could do it in about 1/2 hr by just pushing it over! Oh yah, and they left all of the roots and most of the stump behind. Only cost about $1000.00.
Makes me wonder if the landowner would have thought to save a tad on haul and dump fees, just have you dig a hole to throw all the wood in, burn it there and just cover it over. But I could understand at the same time, why that wouldn't be ideal since we'll, big hole dug and disturbed plus smoke, fire hazard if it's dry enough. Peeling a tin roof off will forever remind me of being volunteered by my dad to help a neighbor out with taking a tin roof of his hunting camp building to replace all the 8 foot sections with 12 foot sections to cut down on the seams in the low pitch side room. Wasn't paid or even promised hunting permission. He just wanted me out of his hair for a weekend. Old roof came off easy enough. Merely a line of screws set at 6" intervals on the horizontal and every 10" for the vertical seams. No sealer gaskets under the screws or even smear on roof tar sealer. Just metal on metal screwed to wood. Oh and it had been leaking long enough for many of the runners to need replacement too. Nothing like having to balance on a 2x4 while placing new boards and runners. Then placing new longer tin sheets that were not long enough. Less screws, more gaskets and roof tar. Painting it with silver aluminum paint. And no scaffolding, just a rickety wood ladder to climb up and down. I was also 13 at the time. Dangerous? Ha! Don't fall off was the safety measure. At least I got a meal out of it. Though I think I lost easily a pint of blood a day from all the mosquitoes.
I've been waiting for something to pop up on UA-cam today, and BAM, that's the notification I have been waiting for. Chris, whether you believe us or not, we could watch you for hours, even while you pick through the metal.
Man I wish I could find somebody nearby who would let me take a few sheets of that metal to fix my shed. Can't really afford to buy any with the prices now.
A great Barn to Demo. The Wall and Roo8 with Sheet., the other Wood. You work Perfect with the Volvo 22o Excavator and seperate the to tear off Material. You make this Work however Perfect! To last a clean Areal. Very good Video. 👌
Sooooo many thoughts going through my mind...selling metal and doors and windows and trusses on marketplace. People with time and screw guns and ladders, can work miracles.... 😁
I see lots of comments about the barn could have stood for years yet. Maybe it could, I don't know, but if it ain't fit for what you want it to do, because it has been added to as and when funds and purpose got together, then it isn't worth keeping. Just because is old and looks OK doesn't mean it fits your plans - look at all the healthy, beautiful trees Chris has to take down just because they don't fit the plans. Nice work on the separation, Chris.
This is one of these jobs where the owner could of did a bit more himself, but it looks like his time was more important. Glad you scooped this one up. Easy work.
That was pretty to watch. I wasn't expecting you to go down the side of it like a tin opener at the start. If it was me I'd have just driven the 220 straight through it and made a right old bleedin mess of it! 😎
I always enjoy the demo videos. Love how transformative it is when cleaned up. But not gonna lie, part of this one hurt my heart a little bit. Usually the buildings are death traps and this one was in such good shape. But the wrong shape for progress I understand.
@@cathiwim There was an old house on the edge of the town I live near that had that same siding and someone converted it to a barn. My uncle did it to a house that was separate from a big old brick house for a bed and breakfast in the 1800s. I believe the owners of the bed and breakfast lived. He boarded up the windows and used it for grain storage for awhile.
what a beautiful big barn shame it had to come down, dont know what condition it was in but I would have tried to rebuild the bad parts if possible but its not my shed

Not that bad of a barn ! Darn
What a waste...

@@LatitudeSky I so totally agree. His demos are some of my favorite vids.
@LatitudeSky, that's because Chris is a professional and does a professional job every time
This man uses his machines like a surgeon uses a scalpel.
I like that can opener action Chris!

Awesome Job Chris and Thanks for Sharing. 👍👍
Oh, we haven't seen a demo project in quite awhile. Nice job, Chris.
Sure would have loved to have that barn at my place, what a shame
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a bit of sealant on the roof and a coat of paint it would last another 10-20 years at least.

I would not drive any rubber-tired vehicle in that general area, until after someone first used a big magnet to pick all the fasteners up.
Big powerful magnets are needed. It doesn't help with the non-ferous nails and such but will get most of them.
Boy, Oh boy...a Volvo toy.. a great example of "Paid to Play"... Mighty to watch..Cheers Chris.
Like the Demo Chris on The old Barn .
Gotta love them big demo's! 💪✌️😀

13:40 I saw the lady running and for about 10 seconds wondered if she was going to tell him that is the wrong building.
Good to see you back on a building demo job bro, what a beautiful spot too with the lovely looking pond in the background. Safe travels. Ken.

It was nice to see something a little different today. Nothing like a quick demo job and a couple small trees to take out.
It really shows how sturdy those old buildings were built... 💪
Thanks for the video. Always enjoy a good demo operation.
I notice you were at the Bealy Good farm, sneaky. :) No snakes under the floor. 😅Thank you and have a great day.

Look for barns in disrepair. Ask the homeowner if you can have the roofing material. It's not that hard.

Love the video Chris. I feel a rotating grapple would’ve made this much easier with dealing with all that tin.
I think you spent more time pulling metal than it did to bring the barn down Chris 👋
That is amazing how you can pick up a fragile cinder block like it was your fingers doing it. And a spot on demo as usual.
Sooooo many thoughts going through my mind...selling metal and doors and windows and trusses on marketplace. People with time and screw guns and ladders, can work miracles.... 😁

Just love this tear down videos Chris hate to see a barn being torn down but sure there’s reasons for it and Happy Fathers Day Chris
Definitely got the finesse tearing off the aluminium siding. I'd probably have collapsed the whole structure trying to do that 😂😂😂
What a shame.. That barn had many years of lie left in it. I hate to see old barns go and replaced with modern steel.
That Rotochopper Mr Diggs is trying out would reduce that wood waste to probably 2 superdump truck loads
The difference between raising a barn and razing a barn. It can come down a lot faster than it does when its going up
