I'm not a huge fan of this drill once you become sufficient since you anticipate and expect the last shot. It's great for muscle memory for beginners, but a 2-4 shot then reload with someone else to load your mags at random is a great way to practice, in a gunfight you might not know exactly when your last shot is about to be fired.
@@v710k 100% we did this at the end of our session for the lolz reloads can be done at home with dryfire and then they just come up naturally during your training

The definition of slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Except that reholstering. If you’re putting your gun away, that means there’s no more threat. No need to be the quickest to reholster, take your time, be safe with it.
1R1 has been proven to be ineffective due to the ability for the driller to predict the lockback. A more effective drill is have your buddy load 1-3 rounds in the first magazine and you won’t have an anticipatory advantage for the reload.
@@TargetTacticali was always told to look when reholstering… but also before reholstering to confirm the threat is no longer a threat, makes it easier imo. But clean reload 💯
@@MezzysAutomotiveI was taught the same, people say to never look when reholstering. Which is complete BS because you should never be reholstering unless you’re sure you’re safe.
The only time we re holster our weapon system is when the scene is secure. Other than that solid stance and trigger manipulation
@westernranger1776 I get that but it’s ingraining “muscle memory” of reloading after one shot. A better drill would be to hand the shooter a magazine with an unknown amount of rounds that way the reload isn’t anticipated. Just a thought.
Don't know why you're practicing drawing from concealment... printing like that, you might as well carry it in a drop leg. Get a smaller gun, get the clip draw system, and you'll have a much more effective ccp
It always makes me cringe/worried about people racing to holster up. You might have a split second to save your life (in a real situation) but you have the rest of your life to holster up. Don’t teach yourself bad habits on the range, as those will get you killed. Always fire to stop the threat, SCAN your surroundings than take your time to safely holster.
The tactical Tim nonsense always annoyed me. These reload drills mean nothing, and if you don't have a rifle you are basically screwed. There is a reason soldiers carry tons of mags for their rifle and one for their pistol.
I'm not sure what this is for other than speed. I carried professionally for 27 years. Still carry for self-preservation. It's not the fastest that wins the gun fight. It's the one most willing to pull the trigger!
I have to ask. I’m seeing it as a growing trend lately. What’s up with everybody starting to shoot handguns with super bent elbows in these awkward positions?
The locked out elbows were very common before 2000s. Then people realized u can absorb more of the recoil if ur wrists are locked and ur elbows are bent
@@TargetTactical If that’s just natural for you I get that. I’ve heard guys talk about training to keep their elbows more bent. I don’t quite get that.
