Thanks for this. I have an ancient Gorilla amp with this exact issue. I also find it odd that I need to turn "TUBE CRUNCH" above zero in order to have any sound at all. I've read that you should lubricate the contacts after cleaning them -- no idea how legitimate that advice is, though.
thanks for the question. if you are asking about the cord, i think a regular 3-prong extension cord (for North America) should be fairly cheap from a hardware store or home center
Does anyone know where I can find a schematic for the Gorilla GG-25? I have one that I'd like to wire up and get working again. I've googled for a schematic, but what shows up does not correspond to the amp shown here, which is what I have.
Thanks for the question Mark. I have not been able to find any schematics for the GG-25 either. I did come across this post from a user on Ultimate-Guitar forum... "In case curiosity has you wondering the original Gorilla makers were caught stealing Peavey's (probably the Rage 158 model) circuitry using the TDA2030 audio power chip in their amps and were successfully sued in court for copyright infringement. I'm sure any literature and schematics were destroyed." The link to that topic is www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/guitar_amplifiers/gorilla/gg-25/36917/
@@TonyBursey Thanks for the reply, Tony. I downloaded the Rage 158 schematic and will check over the potential similarities in more detail, but I'm coming to think it may be the Audition 20 rather than the Rage 158, since the Rage uses a TDA2040 power-amp chip and the Audition uses the 2030, which the Gorilla also uses. It was also suggested to me that Pignose now holds the rights to Gorilla amps so I may try them for a schematic.
@@markhammer643 I think Pignose took over the Gorilla name few years after the lawsuit but I am not sure. Let me know what you find with the Audition 20. Thanks
@@TonyBursey Wrote to Pignose, whose website explicitly indicates they are now also Gorilla amps. Received the boilerplate "we-got-your-email-and-someone-will-be-getting-back-to-you" note, so eagerly awaiting something more tangible. I'll let you know how it turns out.
@@TonyBursey WOW! So weird--Tony, I literally just finished up a second round of CRC QD Contact Cleaning of all of the pots/switches on my Gorilla GG-25 like 30 seconds ago, when I saw your response thru my gmail. And guess what??! It is literally scary-quiet now. Had some fun just taking it apart, and doing this. NO Snap-Crackle and Pop to be heard turning all of the pots. I am still getting a pronounced pop when I power it up, though, but even the Tube Stack switch is dead quiet. Thanks for the response, BTW. I may have a few other questions for you, (Re-hooking up an old stack) but keep an eye peeled for that. Cheers!
Thank you sir. I have the fender M-80 half stack and I had to give you a follow. great video.
Thanks for the follow.
My 1st amp. Sept 85 w a vantage av315 black w finished rosewood fretboard w a smiley face knot at the 4th fret.
Thanks for the comment. Do you still have it or the guitar?
Worked for me, thank you !!
Thanks for the comment. Great to hear.
just fixed mine same deal, super fun amp, had one when they were new.
I've had mine for years and it crackles just like that. Going to fix it now. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video, Tony! Just found a GG-25 in a dumpster behind a music school near my apartment. Works great but crackles just like yours did.
Great find.
Thanks for the video!!! Do you think you could show me where the cables that go to the entrance of the electric current are connected 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Awesome bro, I have the same issue with my GG-25 I have had over 25 years
Thanks for the comment. Hope the fix is as simple as mine.
Worked perfectly. Thank you for this!
No problem. Thanks for the comment.
How much should it cost to change the plunge in cord on a gorilla amp

Great video! I have one of these and yes; Snap, crackle and pop! Question: what about the switches? Should I spray them too?
Thanks for the comment. It probably would not hurt to spray them and work in the switch as well.

Just to clarify, I just briefly powered it up w/ no cable or guitar involved.
