The editing and camera angles are really good on this episode! I have a film degree and I have to say it’s really great to see how your channel is progressing
@@bottleshipcaptain Yep! the speaker and box let these amps down. The circuit is usually decent, & does the job! They were made in Taiwan, so would be of decent quality!
Super loud for the size. I want to crank it up to see what kind of sound I can get but I’d have to wear earplugs. I also want to get a decibel meter to see how loud it can get.
Such a great job cleaning and getting this well, not so great amp up and running. I think you really a nice job with micing and recording with it. You may have convinced someone to get a Gorilla and do the same!!!!!
These seemed to be mostly sold new at pawn shops back then. An affordable amp to go with your Hondo guitar you just got when you were 15 in 1986. Probably a perfectly fine amp, but we shit on them just like our DOD pedals, but turned out we were just 15 and shitty guitar players and didn't know any better.
@@bottleshipcaptain Haha! Nah, I don't believe that. I just started playing again after a few years, and I think I need new hands. Anyhoo, keep up the good work.
On the back where it says 150 Watts this😂 does not mean it puts out 150 Watts through the speakers..... probably realistically more like 10 or 20 watts. Still very cool vintage budget amp. Never spray wd40 in your pots! It does not dry up and creates a mess, get some alcohol if you don't have any electrical contact cleaner.
What I used was WD40 branded electrical contact cleaner not regular WD40 so all good there. I tried finding more info on the wattage online because 150 seems high but that was the only number that came up.
@@DMSProduktions I realized that there are 2 guitars in the video. The silver one had the new strings, the red one has ancient strings on it so if that’s the one you were referring to then that’s a fair assessment ha ha
@@bottleshipcaptain my buddy that owenes Zimm's guitar will do a final video of it and the assembly i curantly do not have any thing uploaded from what ive done lost it in my smaret phone accadent .. lol. its called garbage to glitter if you arte intersted ive done all of them so far just paint work and stuff he does the videos.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback, especially from someone with experience in film.
Gorilla amps WERE the epitome of guitar tone back in the 80s!
It certainly is a tone.

@@bottleshipcaptain I'd say it'd do ~100-103 dB!
Well one of these days I’ll test it and see.
I iust picked up a clean version of one of these. You did a great job!
Thanks! Are you enjoying the one you got?
@4:06 you sprayed something on the grill cloth to clean it, what was that? I have an old TC-35 I'm cleaning up and it's pretty gross. Great vid!
I used automotive carpet/upholstery cleaner. It worked pretty well and didn’t do any damage, so I was happy with the result. Thanks for the comment!
@@bottleshipcaptain thank you!

Thanks! I really enjoyed making this one. I’m glad you liked it.
brooooo the gtr strings 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whatever do you mean? My strings are fine! They’re vintage 😂
Bro understood the assignment
This is up there as one of my favorites. One of these days I want to see how loud the Gorilla can actually get.
cool i hope to get the jp2c mesa amp soon
It’ll be a long time before I can afford something like that lol
@@bottleshipcaptain i cant but my dad can lol
Haha nice!

I’m still a shitty guitar player 😂

Lmao my first guitar in the late 80s was a hondo and I bought a 50 watt gorilla amp.

@@bottleshipcaptain Oh I didn't know wd40 had a contact cleaner.
Looks like you haven't changed your strings SINCE the 1980s either!
Funny thing is I had just changed my strings a couple weeks before this lol
@@bottleshipcaptain OK, they LOOKED old! (Sweaty fingers?)

Yeah sounds like my kinda thing. I’ll have to check it out.
Most people that say gorilla amps suck have never played one
In the right hands anything can sound good. I’ve certainly got a soft spot for them.
I’m on the hunt for one-cool little amps❤
