She was "found not alive" (4:16)? You mean "dead", I presume. I say this because I just saw another video (not yours) which talked about someone being "unalived" by a criminal. Why the pointless euphemisms suddenly? Are they now needed to avoid some strange new UA-cam demonetization algorithm?
Your too funny, that's the first Person I thought of, when I saw the title. I was always fascinated by Sydney Biddle Barrows, since the 1980's. As time went on, I did Genealogy, I share a few Ancestors with Her. Her story made even more sense to Me as some People are generationally removed from wealth. My connections to Colonial America are through Grandmothers,, Women had to follow where their Husbands went, 300 years of continually moving West. That's why I feel for Sydney, The wealth was still visible to Her, but, She was removed from it. My line became disrupted by the Dust Bowl and had to move even further West to California.
Because there are so many of them and all are far too large for most people. The market is very small actually. And most were built before the use of thermal insulation. The heating bills are crushing in their own right. Take heart, there are still thousands of these mansions in existence and not just in the USA. There are countless townhouses and luxury apartments in Manhattan still occupied. Unlike the antique models these mansions could go up very quickly because they were built during the industrial age. It's amazing how few years it seemed to take to build ever the largest. Two to three years seemed pretty common. . .
@@paulrosa6173 All that you write is true. I just miss them when they are gone. I wonder, though, from where he finds the many photos he uses to illustrate his excellent videos.
Electric, water, other types of utilities in systems did not transfer well into the 1970s and beyond. Trying to turn these buildings into apartments or anything else was not feasible or even desirable.
Beautiful place - even if it looks a bit dormitory-like from the back on one side. The murals in the dining room are tapestry - cut up and re-used I suppose.
Just unbelievable thank you for being you the distraction of history and all that work. It took to create that wonderful building straight down the drain. I can sincerely say that you are just like Australia. Your destruction of your history to leave behind for the next generation is unconscionable you can see by the way the UK is being destroyed in the same way History is everything. The very foundations of the nation were made by all these people and the common ale house that destroy your history it seems you just seem to love it. It is the absolute pinnacle of nothing for the grandkids every day. Nothing all that hard work down the drain. Regards our down under.
Such a beautiful house and grounds. Sad it was demolished. Thank you for that
He made his money the old-fashioned way.
He inherited it when dad passed away.
And contributed nothing

The Biddles were an upper crust family with a long line of influential forebears.
@ I figured as much. Marrying into the Duke & Drexel families.
The Mayflower Madam was a Biddle. 😮
Good video. Thanks.
There's just no exteroor filling the emptiness that resides within a soul. Especially when ego blocks the door ...

Yes
I wondered about that myself. Sounds dumb to me, unalive.
The algorithm does not allow certain "unwords" or your account will end up in the yt gulag.
“unalive” ………… hehhehehehehheh…….great one !!!!
@ I know… it’s ridiculous
Incredible mansion! I would love a stable like that!
I met their great grandson he was a gentleman.
I never heard of the Biddles. This story sounds like it would make a good movie.
Money doesn't always mean having a successful family. I admire those who can handle the money and family well.
I think the "Mayflower Madam," who ran an expensive call girl service back in the 1980s, was a Biddle.

Wayne is on the Main Line! A great place to live!
Wayne, NJ???
Very nice house!
The house was fine. Unfortunately the story was harsh. He probably beat her to death, but his money hushed it up.
Police could be bought off in LA in the old Hollywood days!

Not like it ever stopped.
They still can be.
I would drive pass that gate but never knew the story…. Thanks
Can you do the history of the magic castle? That would be amazing!! The house is so cool.
As the money determines how the story goes, she obviously didn’t bank well.
Scandalous
Why do they always destroy these houses?!?

That stable looks like it would make for some sweet condos.

Such a shame to demolish such a beautiful home.
Money doesn't bring happiness.
Neither does being poor
The Biddles are a famous Philadelphia family. See Wikipedia.

Double standards for the wealthy then and double standards for the wealthy now. The house was very nice though.😊
