My Parents Tried To Give My Inheritance To Their Favorite Daughter, But My Grandparents Had A Surprising Twist In Store.
--------
The story revolves around a 28-year-old man who has lived his life under the shadow of blatant favoritism, with his younger sister Amy always being their parents' favorite. From childhood, Amy received extravagant gifts and attention, while the narrator was often overlooked, despite his academic achievements and efforts to gain their approval.
As they grew older, the disparities became more glaring. Amy was spoiled with the best of everything, while the narrator had to work hard for even the simplest rewards. Despite excelling in school and securing a scholarship to his dream college, his accomplishments were met with indifference from his parents.
The drama intensifies when their grandfather passes away, leaving an equal inheritance to all grandchildren. The narrator’s share of $500,000 could significantly change his life, but his parents insist he gives it to Amy, claiming she needs it more. When he refuses, his parents try to take his inheritance, arguing that they know better what their father would have wanted.
Feeling betrayed, the narrator turns to his grandmother, who reveals that their parents had previously tried to manipulate the grandfather into favoring Amy in his will. The grandfather, however, had insisted on equal treatment for all. With this knowledge, the narrator, supported by his grandmother and extended family, successfully prevents his parents from taking his inheritance.
In the aftermath, the narrator’s relationship with his parents becomes strained. His mother slowly starts to acknowledge her mistakes, but his father remains unrepentant. Meanwhile, Amy, after some reflection, apologizes and begins to take steps toward independence, inspired by her brother's stance. The narrator finds solace in his strengthened bond with his grandmother and some extended family members, and he starts to heal from the emotional scars of his childhood.
He uses his inheritance wisely, paying off debts, investing in his future, and even considering starting a community center. The experience teaches him the importance of self-worth, setting boundaries, and breaking the cycle of favoritism. The story ends on a hopeful note, with the narrator looking forward to building healthier relationships and a brighter future.

"It's selfish to harm your family bond over something as trivial as money issues"
Yes, you're right, THEY ARE being selfish by trying to ACTIVELY STEAL my inheritance which they are ALREADY RECEIVING EXACTLY AS MUCH OF without considering how it affects my familial bond with them! Thank you very much for acknowledging it!
This is giving me, OP isn't his father's biological son, vibes.
I'm just amazed his sister was able to break herself free of the FOG their parents had on her that takes a lot of courage and guts to go against something you've been use to your whole life
To be fair, at this point many of these stories are made up because they realized it gets traffic and will probably get worse with things like chatgpt if this wasn't already made by it or a program like it. It could be a genuine story and things like this do happen, but I get BS vibes for some reason.
Edit: Pretty sure its BS since apparently this story happened in the future and he came back in time to tell us about it.
Not really. My FIL treated my SIL like an angle. And my husband like dirt. They even had DNA tested. Nothing changed.
Now my FIL is spoiling my daughter and forgetting my son.
His even said to my daughter "who's my favourite one".
I told him to not say it in earshot of my son.
My brother has said he would spoil a daughter if he has kids and just tolerate a son.
Some men are weird. Just like the ones who spoil their sons, and ignore their daughter.
Naaaa... parent favoritism is way more real than parents discovering they raised an affair baby...
@@Th3DarkJester you'd be surprised it actually happens more often than you think
It’s nice to see that Op and his sister Amy had been slowly reconciling
😂 Op😩
It’s great to see that Op and Amy are making progress in their relationship. Family dynamics can be so complicated, especially when it comes to inheritance. Do you think that kind of situation can ever truly heal, or are there always going to be lingering feelings?
For those who are going through this, STAND YOUR GROUND! Don’t let people walk on you, no matter who it is.

The dad is willing to commit a crime just to make sure his daughter got treated better than his son💀
He even tried to convince Grandpa that she should be treated better than all the grandkids.
Then has the nerve to say that "he did nothing illegal" after lying about someone's will. It's a damn shame that he has children
More likely tried to scam money out of the will.... jaja he is or was an idiot
He had the audacity to be born Male whe both parents wanted one child a girl. That's why they treated him like this. How messed up is that?

7:34 "should have handled it in house" so should have caved, since OP did try that first and was ignored.
Their actions throughout that part of the story have clearly stated that they barely see him as part of the family.

So sad As a teacher I have seen this. Those kids I told them they are my kids, show them extra love and just be there for them
You‘re one of the best teachers ever.
@@larytriplesix Thank you so much
I had a teacher like. Due to false rumors that at the time I did not know and what I told her. I told her my parents were too busy to deal with my grades. Well she showed up at my house. To plea to my mother and my mother pissed I lied. Dragged me by the ear and demanded I tell the truth. In that moment I had two mothers mad at me. And the teacher loved my mother so started to tell my mother everything. If I was grounded my teacher remind me of it. If I tried to ditch other teachers warn my mother. It was hell for a kid until I left for college.
"You owe it to us, we bought you school supplies for school!"
Oh wow dad, here's a #1 dad mug because you got some pencils and notebooks.
Family can be the people you choose. Take the money, find love, and make your own family.
Peace in the family takes precedence when family treats YOU like family. If what op says is represented accurately, your family doesn’t care about you. They see you as a burden. If they believed in you they would have invested in you like your sister. Take the money like peepaw wanted, and let them burn their own bridge with the greater family.
How far is that father willing to go to make sure his children are helpless and at each others throats
Most parents would be overjoyed having a son that has achieved so much. Ops a man to proud of by his parents. His father is a narcissist and I'm surprised your grandma didn't give him a good dressing down for the way he treated you and your sister.
Just for trying it should immediately mean they get nothing from the inheritance and be put in crippling debt.
I think OP is an afair child. Anyone thinking the same.
It is possible, but some other things make me think they just wanted a doll to dress up and control, with the younger sister being cuter so a "better fit".
Yaa
Finally! A story acknowledging the realities of being a self aware golden child. Most stories just show golden children being the stereotypical caricatures who don't know an ounce of reality but never ones who find out before it's too late and have to face the challenges that comes with it, like what was highlighted here: wanting to be independent but missing all the milestones that makes it possible and the parents actively keeping them trying.
Thank you do much for noticing that! I really wanted to shed light on the complexities of being a self-aware golden child-it’s not always the one-dimensional story we often hear. There’s a real struggle in breaking free, especially when you realize how much you’ve been set back by the very people who put you on a pedestal. It’s a tough journey, but I’m glad this perspective resonated with you!
I would have done my parents a favor and just stopped talking to them
I am so happy this family scape goat finally stood its ground. NEVER choose such toxic treatment over yourself. Your father is a textbook example of a narcissist. Don’t let your love be weaponized against you. THEY are guilty. Not you.
Not very often you hear about OP and their sibling(s) mending their familyship instead of destroying it.
Yes. More what ifs are veeeeery much needed! Love em!
Mannn I love these fake stories, their grammar is immaculate and the drama is also d e l e c t a b l e
For someone who got into prestigious university on their essay skills, this sounds like it was written by a bad ai story generator.
Thank you I know nothing about writing or anything of the story but most of these stories sound so fake I couldn’t have been the only one who thought so but no one says anything about it
OP shouldn't trust Amy or their mother. Men bully with aggression. Women bully with tears. This isn't 100% by any means but is typical. Amy and Mom are playing a long con.
Not that I believe the story anyway, but for the sake of argument lets say its true. I don't think any resentment should be held towards Amy, there was nothing in there that showed that she was ever advocating for this kind of behavior and her explanation for not speaking up would have been completely acceptable. watching your parents treat your sibling like a cast away while you aren't really able to do anything for fear you might end up being basically disowned by your parents as well cant exactly be a good childhood no matter how much material gain you get from it. the mom is a whole other story but you're talking about a kid who literally didn't know any better and still confined with OP before the mother even did and finally faced her parents regardless by the time she was of age to know better, I see nothing wrong there. Its easy to view a person like that as the bad guy but she was thrown into that position by the only two people she could trust from birth.
“Suffered me greatly” is the most ESL thing I’ve heard all night
This is like early 2000’s Harry Potter fanfic-tier writing. You’ve got to resist the urge to make the bad guys completely retarded for verisimilitude.
Bro Amy is a lot better than anyone else in this type of situation
19:32 ENDS here! STOP repeating the same stuff just to artificially lengthen the video for ads. 😡
Gotta hit those time quotas lol. Thanks though mate

Dude... to quote a famous 70's song ... "Go on, take the money and run". Just because someone gave birth to you and took care of you (the absolute bare minimum needed to qualify as parents) doesnt mean that you HAVE to love them. Cut your losses. Take it from personal experience, no matter what you do, you will never, ever be enough in your 'donors' (i call them this because that is the minimum effort they put in to be loving parents) eyes as your sister.
It may be hard, but you will be far better off pursuing your own dreams than trying to meet theirs.
Dude you better have taken that money plus get a DNA test you are definitely not of that family at least not your immediate family the other relatives are pretty cool
Always stand you ground, if a negative is all it takes for your family to abandon you, they were not your family, just your parents.
Take your inheritance and go have a happy life!
OP needs to report what dad and mom are doing to grandma. If they keep this up, OP needs to get an attorney and have them send a cease and desist letter. Grandma needs to be made aware of what the parents are doing. Grandma will set this straight.
normally the favorite child likes being taken care of like that but amy doesnt which is why i like her so much
I hate when parents say I gave you this this and that when it is their Job and their obligation to do that
Perfect example of “money changes people “. Money & family hardly ever works out well in the end.
It took a lot of talking, and years of work, and very tough moments of forgiveness but I was able to mend the bridge my parents favoritism had burned. To be fair hugely different situation then OP but their is hope for the rest of us.
OP deserves to have his inheritance. He should have called out his parents for the extremely blatant favoritism to anyone that is on his parents' side. Each and every time OP's sister was treated a ton better than OP. It will make it so that those family members see how bad the situation is and voice their disdain to OP's parents because of the blatant favoritism. Here is the thing. OP should not care about the his parents. Since they failed as being parents. OP's parents don't understand that being parents are to treat your kids equally (if they have multiple kids) and to teach them right from wrong and that they can't have everything they want. OP should try to get the family on his side and make sure that unless his parents' force their golden child to get a full time job or go to college while dealing with a part time job. That the family will disown OP's parents. For both being greedy and being failures as parents due to OP's sister being a golden child.
5:45 how dare you speak I'll of the dead and suggest something for your deceased grandfather now then let us change his will so your sister gets his money it's what he would've wanted
lol
Doormats will ALWAYS be doormats.
People who say "give in to maintain peace" have clearly never been the ones to have to give in.
5:16 yup that sums it up that this story is fake it’s not 2025
I think it was supposed to be 20-25, age wise, but I don’t know for sure
Or maybe it's a typo?
It’s 20-25
Bye then ✌️ lol
If you didn't earn it why would you expect others to give it to you. They can give it to whoever they want. They earned it and it's theirs to do what they want
I'll take things that didn't happen for $500 Alex
"Amy needs money! "
"Ask everyone else, don't just ask me?? 💀"
OP's parents set Amy up for failure by not encouraging her to work for herslf or to take responsibility for her own life. She already has $500,000 from ger own oietion so that should be enough dor her to get started on her own. OP's parents would also have likeky given everything to Amy in theur will anyway, no diubt citing she needed it more than OP but ignoring the fact it seems she's intelligent but raised to depend on them rather than herself. OP should accept the grandfathers inheritance.
People: It's so bad you're treated this way
Also people: You should just allow bad people to treat you bad because it's peacefull for the rest of us.
Whether or not this story really is real or not, this story really shows how terrible favoring a kid is. And the fact that the dad continues to deny that what he pulled was illegal.
Tell them bye. No more gaslighting
seems clear to me that this story is made up to maximize attention, regardless it reminds me of how much favoritism my parents gave to my little sister over the rest of us
Never let anyone walk all over you! Family or not! No matter how close you previously were or how long you knew them!
Hell no! I'd ask them the same ? They asked me. I bet their answers would be different. You should take it. Who cares what they say. They can kick rocks. Im just sorry your sister was groomed to be dependent on your parents, but im glad you could reconcile with her❤ Wish you both good luck OP.❤
“Startled Gas” very interesting concept.
great video! i really enjoyed the storytelling and the insights you shared. however, i can't help but feel that the whole 'favorite daughter' dynamic can sometimes stem from deeper family issues. it makes me wonder if favoritism is as simple as it seems or if there's more to the backstory that could paint them in a different light. just a thought!
There's a lifetime movie in here somewhere 😂
the video is too good. i want cake sooooo bad now
OP, lawyers, lawyers, lawyers. Then, go no contact with the two people who absolutely hate you. The parents are narcissists. OP should be careful if Amy who could be playing the long game.
Finally someone who knew this too.

I had 50 seconds of adverts before start of video. One minute into video, it went to 55 seconds of adverts. That's when I gave up watching said video. I'm not blaming the original poster, it's probably you tube doing it. However, whenever I watch a video on you tube and I get lots of adverts at the start, I just give the video a miss instead. what an interesting take on family dynamics! i really appreciated the perspective you shared. but honestly, i think inheritance should be equally distributed among siblings, regardless of who the favorite is. it just seems fair, you know? some might say favorites deserve more, but that can create a lot of resentment in the long run. what do you all think?
I bet op parents are going to regret how they treated op when the grandparents get done with them and op should go no contact with his family
Something’s off about this story. The dates take place in the future and there are grammar errors, something strange from a Harvard alumni

As the left sock that the father worn, I can confirm that this story is true.
this video was super engaging and kept me hooked the whole time! i can't help but wonder though, isn't it a bit unfair to prioritize one child over another when it comes to inheritance? it seems like a recipe for family drama that could've been avoided if they had an open conversation about it. what do you all think?
What family. You have no immediate family!!

The inheritance from op would never have went towards Amy
When I have kids before they are 18 I will have a rule for them to not spoil them that no one can give her any luxurious or too much money with the exception of their boss and clients.
this was such an interesting take on family dynamics! i really enjoyed the storytelling, but honestly, i can't help but feel a bit conflicted about the whole inheritance situation. while it's understandable to want to favor a child, it just seems unfair to leave someone out like that. shouldn’t it be about what’s right rather than who’s the favorite?
great video! i really enjoyed the storytelling and perspectives shared here. but honestly, i can't help but feel that the idea of parents choosing favorites can really damage family dynamics. like, shouldn't inheritance be about fairness rather than favoritism? just food for thought!
i really enjoyed the storytelling in this video, and it was super entertaining. i can’t help but wonder, though, if the parents were right to choose favorites. isn’t inheritance supposed to be equally divided? it just seems unfair to play favorites with something so significant, don’t you think?
The food is enough to make me sick.
