- Trudelies Leonhardt, on an original Pianoforte by Aloys Moser (Fribourg, about 1796), plays Joseph Haydn’s Sonata Nr. 50, in D major, Hob XVI/37.
from 00'21'' : 1st movement, Allegro con brio
from 05'50'' : 2nd movement, Largo e sostenuto
from 08'26'' : 3rd movement, Presto ma non troppo
The magnificent original Aloys Moser instrument (1796) is the property of the Department of Musicology of the University of Fribourg - Switzerland. This recording was made at the Museum of Art and History of Fribourg.
Einfach wunderbar, so edel und feinsinnig musiziert - vielen herzlichen Dank für Ihre großartige Kunst!
this is how Haydn sould be played.
Very interesting fortepiano sound! I wonder if it's due to strings or felt that was/were restored with material that differs from the original or according to it? The sound is distinctly different IMHO :)
Reminds me more the sound of a Cristofori than e.g. a Stein
Very beatifully played, Trudelies. I suppose that this fortepiano has been built later than 1796, because of the broad and romantic sound. Perhaps after 1805?
Really built in 1796!!!! Beelderige klank!
