I grew up in a family where it was always clean as you go. Also, another saying was just do it now and get it over with! What a blessing that thinking turned out to be ‼️❤😃🏖Kj in Tampa Bay 😊

@MinimalistHome 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦All my grandparents were mostly Southern European immigrants . We grew up with many platitudes to help us navigate life . Another thought was, "It doesn't really matter when you learn something helpful, just that you eventually do" So no matter whether you're young or old, just learning improvements is a good thing.😃 I always enjoy your videos, Honey. It's's good to see that you survived that bump in the UA-cam road a while back like a trooper... I knew you would ! 🤗 🏖 Kj in Tampa Bay 😁

Allowing myself to do small tasks like that (as opposed to my perfectionist way of thinking that I needed to clean the whole room at once) was a gamechanger.

I believe the cook cleans up. It taught my children to be more thoughtful and appreciate the idea of clean as you go. It also avoided fights about fairness - he made the mess, why should I clean up? From the age of about 12, each was responsible for two nights a week.

When I stopped procrastinating for quick tasks, I saw a huge improvement in my house and my anxiety. ❤
It’s surprising how wiping up a bit of jelly on a fridge shelf or tossing junk mail into to recycling will lift my mood.

I’m a firm believer that the cook also cleans up. I am not a messy cook, so why should I clean up after someone who is? This way each person gets a night off when they don’t cook/clean which is really nice. Had to say that, but other than that your comments are spot on! Thanks for the video. I’m going to subscribe. 😊

Thanks! I welcome! I do like the idea of the rotation of who does it all in the kitchen. Depends on the family / roommates and their particularities and yet, I see your point for sure!

2:51 I'm a firm believer in cleaning as you cook, but somehow, this idea never caught on in my household.

Trying to convince my husband that the first step in cooking is to fill the sink with hot soapy water. (He seems to be a slow learner.😕)

My dad used to say a good cook.Always clean up after him himself. He worked on the trains as a cook.
But he was single. But everyone should have their own plates and cups. So leave water in the sink. But every family has thier own way.

We dine around 9 pm in my country... We only pick up. I always wash everything in the morning while making breakfast. It works for me. I don't have guests around midnight... 😂
Clean as you make breakfast, my mantra. Also because packing lunches for the whole family means I can actually use up the leftovers. If I clean in the night, the leftovers stays in the fridge forever

My main entrance into my home is via the back into my small kitchen so the rabbit of 10min clean and reset definitely prevents piles and overwhelm ❤

Definitely all the little things add up (for better of worse) Just out of curiosity, are you still buying new Lego sets? Since this is a favorite with your family, how are you managing this? The one on the last frame looks new, and it's really pretty.
