10 years later and the only one in my rural area that's being broadcast on is 162.400, but it's covering a current storm and you laid out all the freqs so I could write those down as well. Thank you so much
Wow thankyou. I found your UA-cam channel and first code I think near bottom of list worked. I've had the bearcat handheld scanner for over two years!! Now I got figure out other ones I need. God bless you. Grateful, grandma deb
Yeah I was listening to local police radio before I made the video. This radio has an A and a B frequency. The B frequency (not in use in the video) is on the bottom.
Why does my baofeng say “cancel” on the last digit of every single NOAA channel. I can’t connect to a lot of channels on my radio due to the stupid thing saying “cancel.” I’m a noob to this and need help so I can use this in an emergency and need to here NOAA weather.
tune to the channel then turn squelch to max. unscrew antenna then program channel to memory. then reassemble and turn squelch back to desired setting. doing both allowed me to save noaa to memory.
It depends on a litany of factors, such as distance from the nearest repeater, thickness of your walls, and your receiver antenna. I can hear it perfectly from my room. I'm using a Baofeng UV-5R (I think it's actually a clone) with a Nagoya NA-771.
I learn today you do not need a actual weather radio to pick up WR feeds those frequencies can be pick up on any VHF radio that can pick up the 162. frequencies just like in this guys video can pick up weather radio feeds
Dont blame me. I voted for Ron Paul. Side note. I think the uv-5r has quick key for the noaa frequencies. I'll check and modify this post if I can recall the steps.
I live 30 miles from Albany NY and I can't hear anything on 162.550, in fact, I can't hear anything on any of them, I only hear static on all of them when I turn the squelch down from 1 to 0(off). I can't even hear the police department that's 3 miles down the road.. what am I doing wrong? Brand new to ham and have yet to hear anything but static. Google is no help
Hey you good man I couldn't find no one just talking about getting the channels on there but you well you the only one that made sense and I finally got the channel on there for weather after messing with it all day and looking on UA-cam preciate it if you can can you send me a link but I had to get to the local police stations I stay in Louisiana Shreveport
I am leaning how to work my portable ham, but can your handheld be 'programmed to ' become alert ' when it received an emergency broadcast, similar to a "SAME' radio? Txs for the response.
that is a common whip antenna used for that model radio, i don't know the exact model of the antenna, there are billions now!, i (along with many others) have one exactly like this by a brand named Nagoya, they are a good brand, you can pick up the antenna for a good price here: www.amazon.com/dp/B00KC4PWQQ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B00KC4PWQQ&pd_rd_wg=htyn4&pd_rd_r=H78R54BX50MQRNKBD944&pd_rd_w=BKrZj
so you mean that i can use my handheld radio to receive noaa signal, record the signal by phone into .wav file. and put the audio file into wxtoimg to decode it to image. am i right?
Aren't yagi antennas highly directional? You'll probably have better luck with something like www.rtl-sdr.com/simple-noaameteor-weather-satellite-antenna-137-mhz-v-dipole/
162.475 MHz is the 7th. Many NOAA Weather Radio receivers are also programmed for three additional frequencies; 161.650 MHz, 161.775 MHz and 163.275 MHz
Mel McMurrin 161.650, 161.775, 161.750 and 162.000 MHz are allocated for Canadian Continuous Marine Broadcasts issued by the Environment Canada. In the Pacific Coast of Canada, they broadcasted CMB on Weather radio frequencies.

Wow don’t take this personally but this audio sounds like a NOAA radio
I have the uv5r as well and 162.475 works great thanks a lot for the info very helpful

Got mine. I tuned to 162.550 MHz which is KIG98 and 162.525 MHz which is WNG604.

The bottom number is a second frequency you can listen in on.
If you want to hear NOAA inside your house, you'll have to turn your squelch down to 0 or hit the monitor button.

it doesnt mean you can't listen to them it just the right antenna that makes a huge reception difference in capture of the frequency

Whats the bottem number do? My police dept near me is 155.685 (Frequency) But what do i put the bottem number as?? Please help
Dont blame me. I voted for Ron Paul.

Ok, now tell me how to program the frequency to a channel. I can't seem to figure that out at all.
Ooh 162.547 works for Boston!
Yeah it's funny I forgot it on the list but remembered it when I was going through the frequencies on the radio. lol
why can't you get these online ? As a kid I would listen to KGG 68 Houston. Now can't get it online.
Can you hear the alert sounds on your radio, or dso you need a dedicated WX radio?
What antenna are you using?
Awesome! I'm new to Ham... Do you have any ideas for other broadcasts I can listen to? Thanks!
What do you press. Mine different. My button is vfo and it takes you to 456.525?
Can this be done out of the box or after programming only?
Out of the box
Is this considered a weather or weather alert radio? Or is it a ham radio? What's the model number, please? Thanks.
This is a Baofeng (or Pofung) UV-5R ham radio.

I can only hear the weather frequencies when I press the MONI buttom.
When are you gonna help us in how to program a Decoder, so we can use our Radio?
Your squelch isn't set properly, in the Bao Feng radios, you set the squelch in a menu.
@@incubus_the_man yes! According to Miklor, you need to set them to
0 = 0
1 = 2
2 = 20
3 = 30
4 = 50
5 = 65
6 = 75
7 = 85
8 = 95
9 = 105
per band.
Hello can noaa be Heard in the indian ocean and if yes which frequency please
I just get static, what am I doing wrong.
Thank you so much for this video I have a baofeng UV-5r plus and I got it it took a little smarts but it so easy thank you again
Lost my radio. Wish i knew where it was. Look like a old radio. Those really tiny thin rectangular ones.
What do you do if your in the GBT TSW area and want to listen to upto date weather please.
Actually you're missing a frequency. 162.475 is the one you don't mention. There are 7.
Wow this one is so much more clear then 162.500!
I didnt hear anything?
Show me how to do all the codes in a video
Hey you good man I couldn't find no one just talking about getting the channels on there but you well you the only one that made sense and I finally got the channel on there for weather after messing with it all day and looking on UA-cam preciate it if you can can you send me a link but I had to get to the local police stations I stay in Louisiana Shreveport
Are these freqs the same used on a scanner ?
I am leaning how to work my portable ham, but can your handheld be 'programmed to ' become alert ' when it received an emergency broadcast, similar to a "SAME' radio? Txs for the response.
Theo Ciba received trasima
Theo Ciba any broadcast channel if have station frequency signal pick up 7 miles away
Thanks for the info
Sounds like you need a better antenna...
Years later in 2023 these are still more dependable than paying for so called premium services which are scams.
How about try to PTT on several NOAA frequencies?
Francis Litan u ll get a 100.000$ fine for that but it won't actually receive u ll only be jamming which is super illegal
Antichrist 666 Just use outside North America and outside USA. There’s a Taxi company radio on 162.450 MHz on South Sofia Bulgaria.
Hey, when I try to enter the frequency the radio says cancel. I am on VHF, and I can only enter between 140 and 150.999mhz. Do you have a trick?
Did you ever figure this out?
Yeah, did you. My radio doesn’t accept weather channels either
Jack son I finally got the right cable and just programmed it on my PC
There's 7 frequencies actually
I just bought one need help program it I live in Pittsburgh pa 15221 where do you get the codes and how to program them
Radiorefrence.com
Try lowering your squelch.
This video does not reference UV-5X3.
May I ask which antenna you have on the radio?

Does it track freqs like a scanner does ?
Thank you
so you mean that i can use my handheld radio to receive noaa signal, record the signal by phone into .wav file. and put the audio file into wxtoimg to decode it to image. am i right?
You're talking about the weather satellite signals. That's totally different, I don't think the Baofeng has the bandwidth to receive those signals.
@@jasonmhitethanks om. got it. these days im trying to use sdr (wfm) and 2m yagi to receive noaa signals. but i have not got a clear enough image yet.
Aren't yagi antennas highly directional? You'll probably have better luck with something like www.rtl-sdr.com/simple-noaameteor-weather-satellite-antenna-137-mhz-v-dipole/
Mine won’t accept any of these frequencies. Help
It surprises me a country like the UK don't have any weather radio station apart their centralized metoffice.
Endo Gamy Receives only Taxi frequencies (162.55 MHz).
Bermuda (UK territory) also have Weather radio brosdcast on 162.55 MHz and 162.4 MHz for Marine. Weather Radio Bermuda.
Thnx dude👍🏼

NOAA stands for National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration it`s a U.S. government branch.
SPCMaryland2123 / Updatewiz1 Also Weather Radio Bermuda (UK overseas territory). 162.400 MHz and 162.550 MHz.
Bermuda has 2 NOAA frequencies.
SPCMaryland2123 / Updatewiz1 Mexico has SARMEX.
SPCMaryland2123 / Updatewiz1 Already have 1 in South Sofia Bulgaria on 162.450 MHz uses for their local taxi company.
There are 7 frequencies not 6
162.475 MHz is the 7th. Many NOAA Weather Radio receivers are also programmed for three additional frequencies; 161.650 MHz, 161.775 MHz and 163.275 MHz
The Hawkins EAS/ SPC Kingsport 6460 nope channel 7 is 162.550 cause thats the frequency on my weather radio channel 4 is 162.475 mhz
Mel McMurrin 161.650, 161.775, 161.750 and 162.000 MHz are allocated for Canadian Continuous Marine Broadcasts issued by the Environment Canada. In the Pacific Coast of Canada, they broadcasted CMB on Weather radio frequencies.
162.550 Is The Best Siginal For Me, 162.400 Is I Have To Turn The Radio To Get A Siginal
I dont hear anything on any of them.
Hi
