What a cool area, FT. I especially enjoyed this video because we're seeing what we typically would not. This is all under water certain times of the year, as you mentioned. So it adds just that much more adventure to the journey. Finding that Geocache sure was something. It's always interesting to read over all those notes and see just how long its survived out there in the wilderness. Incredible things out there. Never seen 6ft tall cypress knees! Thanks for taking us with you.

Dry season can be interesting. The Brooker Creek Headwaters area offers a lot of exploration when the creeks are dry. No Swamp Ape sightings around Cypress Creek, so rest easy.
Adding a thought here. Since you heard footsteps but saw nothing, I wonder if this requires a bit more exploration...

Great video, the Florida swamps and cypress tracts are my favorite hiking areas. I love blazing trails through the Florida backwoods too. I usually don't get such a clear path though.

Looking at Google maps, there is two places called Cypress Creek preserve...one Near Land o lakes, and one closer to Tampa. I figure you're at the one near Land O Lakes.
My great grandfather was a logging foreman, who cut down cypress trees in the Polk and Hillsborough areas in the time period you reference. Even got arrested for illegally cutting down cypress on lands he had no legal access to.
