I’ve been using my Nikko hellgrammites and the durability is unbelievable. I’ve had the same one tied on going on 4 months it’s caught well over 80 smallmouth on the same lure.
Ugly sticks and Lightning rods are great value priced rods. Your spot on about protecting your skin. I was lucky and the skin cancer was found before it spread.

I have tested several but never owned one, I know they can have issues, the coosa is a nice river boat ,I would inspect everything make sure it isn't leaking or I have any structure issues

mustad hooks, berkly fusion jigheads and all about the bait jigheads
Trokar makes the sharpest hooks I've ever used.

Buy whatever you can afford/want. Fishing is suppose to be fun. I started out using only mono, and then switched to fluro, and now braid w/ mono leader. I've caught plenty of big fish on all setups, & lost plenty as well. That being said, to claim actual studies are "fake news" because you dont agree with them is just ignorant.
FAKE NEWS! i do not agreed with those "studies" because they tell you a story that i have not experienced! fake news.
I have caught countless toothy fish with both flouro and mono, and i can tell you Flouro is 10x better, last longer, and better hookset! is it invicible? well I can't test that, thats not why I use it, again more durable than mono and better hookset, does not strech as much as mono, to call me IGNORANT IS JUST IGNORANT! don't be one.
forgot to add you can easily save on flouro by buying bigger spools for example vanish 40# 350 yards, only $30 bucks, 20#, 250 yards it is only $15 bucks amazon affiliate link here amzn.to/4bynZy3 so it is not about money really, you can make flouro cheaper, not as cheap as mono but still cheaper than most people think

for 99% of fishing, for sure
