    Make sure you watch the 4:45 mark. Does the Comp work? 100%. Is it a life changing difference probably not - would I upgrade for just the comp? No. Would I purchase this pistol? Absolutely.

    Don’t forget one of the best upgrades. The chamber hole doesn’t blow the dirty gas on your optic glass anymore. It blows it forward instead. There are slow mo pictures on some website online.

    I just got this 2.0 metal comp. I haven't shot it yet but i already love it and am upgrading from a 1st gen M&P 9mm full size. The Crimson Trace LG-660 from my first gen and the TLR7 light both fit perfectly on the new metal comp.

    Here's my 2 cents. You're actually better than average. You have a good grip presentation which makes your reset fall right back into your sight picture. It's skewing your assessment.
    I have converted all of my pistols except for the M&P 5.7 to comps. It does help if you're running it fast and especially if your target is moving. It helps keep your dot in the window during cycling. It reduces the muzzle climb so your slide doesn't bounce up and obscure your sight picture as much.
    I have a lot of uploads of shooting the MGM Spinner at 15 yards. That top paddle is 8 inches. Bottom is 10 inches. It's way easier to double tap those paddles with a comped gun because I don't lose the dot.
    With the reduced muzzle climb it's easier to transition because I don't have the slide blocking my view of the paddles during their arcs.

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  Місяць тому +4

      Thanks for your input. I’m going to go check out the videos of you shooting the spinner. I’m by no means a professional so I’m sure I’m missing a few things. Do you think the things you pointed out would be noticed by folks who do not shoot often?

      @@averagemarksmanI agree with the original comment’s assessment, I think you are an experienced shooter and your technique and skills are at a level where the comp doesn’t make much of a difference. I shoot and own a lot of m&ps including the older performance center with the ported 4.25” barrel and when I compare it to my regular non ported m&ps, I don’t see much of a difference. I think when you put hotter loads in it and run it fast, there’s a slight noticeable difference, but in a self defense scenario, I highly doubt anyone will notice. Maybe in a competition scenario, the comp would be nice to have. Nonetheless, the comp carry is still a sweet gun and one I’ll probably add to my m&p collection.

  • @MFAutoloader
    @MFAutoloader 11 днів тому +1

    Guns with porting don't really shine until you're shoot hotter or defensive loads. People go in expecting it to feel like a staccato xc and run 115gr Winchester white box.

    Like and subscribe. I think that for $200 price difference between both metal guns the Comp is worth it, that’s only my opinion. Unfortunately there are not enough data and videos on the metal comp so because I don’t own any S&W firearms I would wait until there are more videos and data available on the Comp

    I wish they would have made this same exact version but without the comp or slide holes. I also wished they made the trigger better than they did, added an orange front sight instead of green and called the pistol a 3.0. They should have also added a front rail to the shield version. Of course they didn't do that though because they would rather keep selling us pistols with tiny upgrades instead of giving us everything we want at once. If they sell us a pistol with all of the features that we want we won't feel the need to buy their pistols in the future. It all comes down to future profits. That's why I would rather just buy the regular optics ready version and install an apex trigger kit.

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  Місяць тому +1

      At the end of the day you're one person and they have a marketing team looking into exactly what the majority of people want. A comp'd gun with tons of serrations is what the vast majority of the market demands. That's why every manufacture produced one in the first half of 2024.

      @@averagemarksman I guess I don't understand the point of a comp on a carry pistol. It gives you a bigger muzzle flash at night time, it increases the sound, it gets the inside of your slide and barrel dirty. Mud, dirt and small rocks can get stuck in the holes if you accidentally drop it. That seems like a lot of negatives just to get a barely noticeable recoil difference. I guess I don't get it 🤷. It does look cool though.

    Just got past 2000 rounds in my M&P 2.0 Spec Series and not a single malfunction. I love the all metals but ported barrel comp isnt going to make run out and get this, but its a cool edition to the all metal 2.0 family. If someone doesnt have one yet and wants an all metal now they just have one more to choose from. Spec series comes with Faxon Comp on it and a little blue loctite on the set screws solves the problem of them backing out

    Thinking about pulling the trigger on the carry comp
    Pulled out the original 2.0 5in with the apex yesterday after all these videos. And after not shooting it for years i was kinda amazed. I think i enjoy it more than my staccato or shadow 2... both are great but that 2.0 grip is awesome and it was very flat shooting. Im thinking the metal frame and comp might make it a slightly better range toy thats not to big to carry either. Only issue with my 2.0 is the mags dont drop which i read was an issue others had as well. Thanks for doing these reviews for us!

      I carry a shield everyday but I refuse to buy another one until Smith&Wesson adds a front rail. Knowing my luck I would buy the comp version then a year or 2 later the shield 3.0 with a front rail would release. Not having a front rail is a huge flaw to me. The fact that the other company's are adding rails and s&w isn't is unacceptable to me as a customer. I would rather have a rail than a comp that barely decreases recoil and makes your slide/barrel dirty. Smith&Wesson should be adding that new chamber hole to all of their m&p products because people are tired of their optics getting dirty.

      @@averagemarksman I actually didn't notice any issues with those. I love everything about this gun except for the recoil impulse... I really wish ALL of Smiths metal guns were steel. Aluminum just seems pointless, and the recoil impulse is generally sharper, due to no added weight and losing the flex of the polymer to absorb some of the energy.
