To answer the title, Yes. He is overrated by Cs fans. Hes not taking PP or Sams spot. At best, hes a 10th-12th man on the team which means hes a situational, injury or garbage time guy. Will he make the roster? Yes. Unless proven otherwise hes better than the current 12-17 men on the roster (jaden, walsh, baylor, jd, drew, anton). This is reinforced by the fact that jaden is on an expiring with no extension on the table and has a 4M contract (TAXES) that shouldnt be paid for a 12th man on the roster.
I agree with everything here. I do think he spends some time in Maine before having his deal converted later in the year, though - save some tax money and develop him in the system while keeping flexibility
@@TaylorTalksCeltics i think we have a different approach to how they save money. I'd go with the Luke Kornet approach. 1. Sign lonnie to the 15th man slot but on a non-guaranteed vet min whose guarantee date is closer to feb, like luke'd previous contract. 2. Play lonnie and jaden early in the season. No maine. This is to see and compare who the celtics want to keep for the stretch run. 3. once the guarantee date is approaching or they've decided, they can either cut lonnie (non-guaranteed, no cap impact) or trade jaden to a team with tpe for a pick + guarantee lonnie's contract.
@@prime_time95 thats fair. on offense. on defense, jaden is superior. with that said, neither is breaking into the rotation (top 9), thus i answer yes to overrated because some Cs fans think Lonnie is overtaking pp or sam (or worse d.white and jrue) in the rotation.
Lonnie should make it because they could always trade him down the line, like they did Stevens last season
@@Roobeye he hasn’t played more than a few minutes each game in preseason. If he doesn’t get many minutes tonight, I’d assume it’s over

@@TheRobversion1 you guys cant be serious. Lonnie is significantly better than Jaden. Jaden is like 3-4 years away from being a rotation player

LWJ is overrated only by casuals, both in real-life and in Fantasy. He sucks
