What year? That looks like a single pattern 24x trigger (gen 3 LS).
can you explain how to set timing on the Northstar or a video installing all new timing parts, chain etc, that would be very helpful

I got a 2004 srx with the northstar and it needs a right exhaust cam phaser and can't find one anywhere do you have any idea where to find one
I’ve got a Northstar with very low compression in 5 of the 8 cylinders. My mechanic told me that the time to rebuild was too high because the threads come out with the head bolts and each have to be heli-coiled before they can be replaced. Any truth to that?
It was not true on my engine.

Northstar have hydraulic valve lifter. Not adjustable.
I have a question , is this motor totally smooth ?? I thought it would be as an old Chevy v8 , but where you can feel it or hear it . Thanks
It is smooth mines you can’t even hear or feel it sometimes I’m inside chilling & can’t even tell it’s on
How do you hone the cylinders? Isn't there some special hatch pattern that is difficult to replicate?
Cadillac doesn't recommend honing the cylinders. Go figure...
@@richardp6178 yeah thats what i thought, so once the engine wears out you basically are supposed to throw the block away =/
Don't listen to GM. You can get 30 over pistons and undersized crank bearings so people are doing it. Not in a position to recommend it as I've never done it on a Northstar as they've always come into spec.
@@JacobVaughan You won't wear those cylinders out, no way. Had one with 120K apart and the factory hone was still clearly visible.
Do you know where I can get head bolts for the 2006 4.6 V8 Northstar ?
Northstar performance out of Canada he makes a bulletproof kit. It’s like 650 for the kit including all head studs ,then you can buy all new studs for crankcase also and way better head gaskets as well

InjectorMaster South Carolina but the car is in Detroit Michigan in storage if need be the car The car can be shipped to you I just really want the car fixed it was given to me as a gift by my grandparents were no longer living the car is in really good shape far as the body goes But the engine is going to need work.

Shipping car (or engine) to me from US will cost a lot $$$.
InjectorMaster wow I’m not gonna be able to afford that.... Nobody in the United States is willing to work on the Northstar engine at all..... It’s a shame the car is the 50th anniversary edition with the rag top and special edition interior from General Motors..... It will cost me tens of thousands of dollars in US money to ship it to you in Europe.... Then it will cost me tens of thousands of dollars to bring it back..... I’ll keep you in mind but thank you for responding back to my messages.
