- We are back to working on the 2004 Grand Am GT. Last time we got the outer panels off, this time we will drop the engine and get the parts ready to go on. By the end of this video, I will have two hours invested in the repair. We are still on track for a one day build.
The first video is here if you missed it: • I found another super ...

I'm never gonna be a rebuilder, but I have to say that your no-nonsense approach to disassembly and re-assembly has made me feel a lot more confident about pulling my own car apart. I'm always paranoid about breaking clips or other stuff, but you've proven over and over that if you're patient and methodical things will work out OK - it's not rocket surgery.
I can’t go to a body shop college but I can take lessons here every Friday 🤠 that’s the kind of online classes that I love to attend 🤠😂
Nice teardown. The car's gonna look great when it's done.
You sure do work hard Scott and you make it look so easy 👍🏻🏴
Honesty is the reason why I watch you Channel thanks oh and I like the rebuilds and the way you go about it let them hate her tears keep crying filling up The Jug because you really know what you're doing thanks for the pointers and the tips
Great video as always!
Hey Scott, your channel is very informative and hilarious at the same time. I thoroughly enjoy your content and I honestly do learn by watching you do the repairs. I laughed whenever the pressurized air escaped from the A/C line. All I could think of was hearing the primal scream from the greenie crowd and complaining about how you have damaged the ozone layer while contributing the rising sea levels due to climate change. Looking forward to more of your videos.
I can safely say without a doubt that you have been down this road before and know the way back including all the short cuts, thanks for another informative video🤗😎🤗😎
I wish there were more mechanics with your work ethic. A pleasure to watch.
Amount of knowledge you have earned is astounding
Much respect
nice sunday night viewing as always, thank you
Your expertise and experience is clearly demonstrated in this video; but nonetheless, the amount of work is substantial. You've made yourself a little niche business dealing with high volume desirable vehicles. That way, Scott's Emporium is never short of stock and if so, parts are readily available from other outlets. You've obviously been in this business a long time and have clearly learned and established a network along the way. The refreshing thing is, in addition to your dry sense of humor, you didn't descend into becoming a hack or relying on shortcuts.
I can see why you can tackle a job like this. Just knowing what needs to come & what stays, learned by doing. I do miss Mr. Spotty though. Is he still lost in shipping? Great video, thanks for sharing.
I always look forward to your videos.
Another excellent video Scott 👍 👍
I see Scott's Grand Am Emporium carries the special weight reduction rocker panels. Sweet!
Who needs acid dipping? Just drive around Chicago for a couple of years.
The FWD Pontiac Grand Am aka GM N-body has never met a plastic body side cladding it didn't like.
Again scott you have entertained and taught me, you deserve a diploma for doing that, money would be nicer for you but a diploma is all you’re getting 😇
scott i gotta say you are a far far braver man than me seeing you remove the electronics is exactly why i say some things are better left to the professional's if i had been in that position i would have took one look at that wiring harness and just walked away shaking my head with that little voice in my head saying nope nope not today my friend as always you got the skills to pay the bills ty for the video vechor
It amazes me to watch you remove just the parts you need from your spare parts emporium.
LOVE These "Regular/Everyday" cars. Especially grand am's. They're cheap, simple, good daily drivers. Keep up the Great Work Scott!!
Always a good Friday with Vechor..Have a good weekend Scott. Stay safe and be well.
Never boring and always a 👍🏽
I love your work man. I've always had a soft spot for the Grand Ams, I used to have a 2004 Grand Am Ram Air G.T....I REALLY miss that car!
Man that Scott guy is sure generous. His Emporiums have saved so many of these builds! Great sponsor... he should sell tee shirts. :)
You are fun to watch. You should be an instructor you're that good.
Absolutely Amazing!
Saving those donor parts really paid off. There won't be much left after you are done.
Scott "One day build'. Everyone else 'One day build.....in NFL time'. Its cool to watch someone with intimate knowledge that is specific to a make and model work their craft.
I will see you again on day 3 of the same day build ☺️☺️☺️
👍👌👏 Glad to see and hear that you have a good parts supplier for used car parts. The Scott forklift was impressive too! 😁 ;-)
Best regards luck and health.
Look forward to your videos every week.
Boring builds are the best builds
outstanding knowledge and experience ... nothing is a "figure out" problem.
Scott I am glad that you at 18:20 you remembered what AC said , to "lift down" 😁👍
You always give us the impression of this stuff's just super easy but you've done a couple of these before and it would take a while to get all the stuff that you've taken off that thing including wiring all in a real quick succession like you are the First Time!! Great stuff!
All the best from Surrey BC Canada
I like watching your UA-cam video.
The videos where you surgically take apart unibody vehicles are my favorite.
Ear protection: yes.
Eye protection: yes.
Not a bitch mitten in sight. 😂
He must have a body double… This isn’t the Scott I know.
Not bored, another great Friday, no tears.
Your channel isn't boring it's taught me alot . THANK YOU Scott
i agree with rick, great videos, scott.
Lov your sponsor!!!! Nice work 👏
Scott, I know a guy in Sacramento Ca that is the fastest body man I ever met. One day I was at his shop and he was putting a roof skin on a car and he first removed the skin with an air chisel. What I saw that was different is that he cleaned the channel of all drip sealant exposing the metal all around and he put the new skin right over the old pinch weld without drilling a single spot weld/ He was very sure to remove the paint and iron out any lumps in the weld area. He then welded the new skin on with a contact welder right over the old welds. When he was done you couldn't tell that he had changed the roof and it fit perfectly. His reasoning was that he leaves as many welds as he can because it weakens the areas to remove them. He did say that there are areas that this is not possible but there are many times he could do this where others would drill the weld out. Just thought this was interesting and could save you some time in the future.
I learn more stuff watching how you accomplish your builds. Thank you.
It appears you've done this before. Thanks again for the entertainment.... always interesting!
You have definitely done this job a large number of times. Impressive. Thanks for the video.
Scott is a WIZARD!
See you next week
Another great video. Always a good time watching you work!
WOW a lot of work to get that engine down. I would have broken something that couldn't be replaced. My luck. Thanks for the video. Never boring.
You make a good Teacher Scott, everything you do is easily understood 👍
Scott, I’m always struck by how easy you make the very difficult and time-consuming tasks of disassembly look-your experience and skill are simply amazing. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to record and edit the videos as well, they’re excellent! --Don
Always nice to see you working on those cars. It is kind of relaxing , beeing a mechanic myself. Slow down a bit , cause I can't win them all. Have a rest and start over again. Thanks Scott !
I realize you've been doing this kind of work for a long time, but I just can't seem to see this job as easy. Fun to watch tho, thanks!
Great video! I love watching you work. Im too lazy to do work like that plus being 70
I love these Grand-Am's. Great to see Scott saving these old toilets!
Canned hams..lol
I had a grand am i think it was an 85 it was a 4 cylinder, i babied that car and the mechanic told me when he serviced it with the amount of miles on it something was going to happen to the engine, 3 weeks later i was mosquito control and it wouldnt go over 35 mph, the body was solid it was a virginia car, i regret not putting another engine in it.
What's VEHCOR?
VEH-icle CO-llision R-epair .
I like your videos, all the way from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
I am also a rebuilder. When i saw that frame rail wadded up I let out a sigh. I have had the same thing happen, where it is damaged way beyond what i was expecting.
Pretty interesting!! Thanks for the upload!
Happy Friday Scott and thumbs UP!
Man... great job on that frame rail removal! I have to admit, when I first started seeing the rust I kinda was like seems like he's waisting his time....but obviously you know the value of these things. I'm personally trying to keep the rust to a minimum on my vehicles here in pa. Just bought black fluid film. Good video
Enjoy your vids, always impressive man.
I miss Mr Spotty
It's fascinating to watch you do this work. I was I had 10% of your knowledge!
As someone from the south, I was totally hyperventilating at all the rust!! It's like you were in my mind. 🤯🤯 However, not sure who should be scared more, me or you?!?! 🤣🤣🤪🤪
Ah it must be Friday! I hope you have a great weekend @vehcor!
Great job Scott can't wait to watch the rest next week keep up the good work
Love the work you do. Always the right way
vechor, making grand am's great again, one pontiac at a time
S-o-o-o-o-o B-o-o-o-o-o-r-i-n-g...
But so good for midday naps at work!
G'day mate awesome..man you must know these Grand Am models inside out ..make it look so easy .. cool channel Scott thanks 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
This seems a lot of work even for a pro like you who knows what he's doing. I hope you make a good profit on this project. Love watching it indeed.
You make it look so easy but it's not. There's a lot of work and this is not your first rodeo either. Looking forward to the rest. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Boring? I think not. I’d be in a pool of blood if I tried to do what you do. You can do in 1 video what would take me 6 videos to hopefully accomplish. I’ll stick to Friday afternoons. You are to much fun to watch anyway. See you next Friday.
Your videos are awesome!
Yeah you're right. Doesn't look to bad. With the way the factory sections that frame rail. Makes it much easier. Man when you part out a Grand Am Not much goes to waste! That's what I call recycling!
Hey next time you do your spot welds would you mind taking a minute or so and explaining and showing us how and why you drill certain ones out and grind others?
I was wondering the same. I can follow along and understand pretty much everything else he does throughout the video but have a pretty loose understanding on the whole drilling spot welds thing probably just because nobody really ever explains it in videos. Maybe they think it’s too boring to watch but I would really appreciate little explanation.
I explained it here: ua-cam.com/video/VwUQZh_geGA/v-deo.html
@@vehcor thanks. It’s much less confusing now. It shows how much thought you put into replacing parts and gives me even more appreciation for your quality work.
Great video. This car deserves a nice paintjob and it will look amazing once finished.
I wanna Scott’s Grand Am Emporium T-Shirt. I can’t be the only one… yeah, I probably am.
In the South me commonly find that much rust. But it's in a hole in the ground called an iron mine.
Great video,keep it up 👍👍👍😎😎😎
With all the new battery powered tools I miss the sound that air tools make its music to me I love it
Good to see you had eye and ear protection, but no biotch mittens 🤣
All in one day? Wow.
Who was the new guy? You know, the one wearing eye AND ear protection! ;)
Yup some people play the testing the tinsel strength of everything left hooked up game when they pull and engine or transmission.
Another great video
Just enough rust from Indiana to match the rust from Chicago, eh? But nothing like the rust from western New York where apparently they have a deal with the car companies to spread salt brine on the dirt roads during the summer so that cars and trucks can be covered in salt all year around and not just in the winter. I've seen videos of 10 year old trucks rotted in half.
Keep it up love the videos 💯
With that little rust, that is like new condition!
the car might be boring my friend but your not hehe - always entertaining
I really appreciate the quality of your work and love of "Grand Am's",
The question in my mind is are you making any money saving that car or is it about it saving a "Grand Am" and content creation?
Feels like I'm in the shop with you sorta'.
Good
You should add the Turbo Sockets to your store.
Hooray. More Canned Ham content! Thank you. Hope your flood insurance is caught up for all those haters tears. Pontiac's gone. Now it's Scott's turn to build excitement - quoting an old Pontiac slogan.
Dayum! Look at those biceps. The Rock Dwayne Johnson has nothing on you.
I can tell already that's not a Harbor Freight jackstand. How can one tell? Because it's still standing and didn't take your front subframe with it. It's probably not Chinese made garbage either.
so far so good
The engine and trans removed now the real work can begin.
i would love to drive one of those and the ssei supercharged one id even swap my mondeo tdci for one
