Hey Mac!! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge here. I myself appreciate how you detailed and broke things down step by step to help us understand. I just got my first asus motherboard and have been getting a red light and I didn't even notice there was four indicator lights there!! This whole time I thought the CPU socket was busted, turns out I needed to swap the ram sticks out!!
Thanks! Helped me understand more of how to diagnose and fix, in my case, thankfully my dram light was on and by taking both out then cleaning before reinstalling turned my back on
Hey Mac Coyzkie! Quick question! Still having trouble with my PC and I started to look around for information and stuff. I read that the Debug lights colors don’t matter when you boot up your pc. Supposedly it only matter when the Debug lights turn back on and stay on. Is that true? When my pc boots up the CPU led light is Red Then my Dram led light goes on Yellow Follow with GPU/vga led light White The boot led light sometimes doesn’t go off. My PC turns on btw The issue am having is that my PC starts running slow and then it turns off. I used to work around it by removing my ram stick and putting them back on and I would be able to game for hours. Then couple days ago my little trick stop working. Swapping the ram stick won’t work anymore. My Pc runs good for a solid 30 minutes and then it just lags and turns off. Also for the first time my pc got a warning screen that my CPU temperature was high So point of all this was if the debug light that turn on with a different color at the start are actually warning or that’s just how my Motherboard turns on because none of the light stay on afterwards. I thought those light indicated what issue my pc has but if that’s it natural start up then idk what my issues is. Anyways thanks in advance
in some cases the led colors matters depending on the motherboard manufacturer but mostly it doesn't matter. if you did received a warning about cpu temp then that might be a cpu cooler not working properly, this always happens to aio cooler pump not working, if you are using air cooler then it might not be touching the cpu so i suggest replace the thermal paste and use a better one. more info here ua-cam.com/users/shortsyWJehPzuVdw for now, if you are using windows 10 i suggest clear cmos, here's how to ua-cam.com/video/S9hyEPTFR10/v-deo.html so we could test things out in default settings
@@MacCoyzkie Oka thanks a bunch for the info! Am thinking of upgrading to a full tower and buying bigger fans to give it more air flow and cooling. Thanks again! 🤘🏻
@@MacCoyzkie also!! Funny story! I went to my electronics store to buy thermal paste and when I got home to put on my Pc, the box was empty! I bought the Corsair Xtrem temp and all it came with was some wipes and a place holder for the tube of thermal paste but no thermal tube. Probably a manufacture error . Going tomorrow for a return and hopefully getting a new one.
So I have this similar mobo except b660 with these debug issues. The dram, VGA, and boot light up for a few seconds when I boot it up with the GPU plugged in. The GPU is the RTX 3060 ti. However, if I unplug the GPU and run the computer off the motherboard it boots up just fine. I did notice that it is not detecting wifi or my HDD (but it sees my SSD so windows downloaded on that anyway). I already did the steps except cleaning it (it is brand new out of the box and not being able to test it on another computer). Do you think this sounds like a faulty GPU if the computer can run off the motherboard still? Should I exchange it?
@@MacCoyzkie so I’m having minor issues. If I plug the graphics card in I can’t reach the battery because it covers it. But if I move the gpu lower I have to unplug some cables that hit into the gpu fan (the board is a smaller version). Would I be able to remove the battery then place the gpu in or would it be okay if I remove the cables? (Audio, a fan, and sata for HDD that actually isn’t registering on the computer either)

Hey Mac, great video, but I can’t seem to fix my PC problem. This is my first time building a PC, and I’m using a B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard (used), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (used), AMD Ryzen 5 CPU (new), 1TB SSD (new), and a Thermaltake 650W power supply (new). When I turned my PC on for the first time, there was no display, but the fans and RGB lights worked fine. Also, the red CPU light on the motherboard is on. What can I do to fix the issue?
you need to update bios, perhaps the motherboard doesn't have the bios for ryzen 5 (new). visit msi's website look for your motherboard and check the bios download for the ryzen 5. Installing the bios have different ways depending on the brand and model name so you need to check the motherboard manual for that. A bit of a warning though, do not interrupt the bios update process, more info here ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o

Dude! This is why I sub to your channel! Always have helpful videos! I have this problem on my computer! My pc had the black screen three times already and I got scare because I wasn’t sure what to do. Am still new to PC and so wasn’t sure exactly what to look up for an answer. Everything I looked up lead to my graphic card dying. My pc still kinda new and I couldn’t believe it was dying already. I eventually ran into another of your videos that mentioned about cleaning the Ram and yea, it worked. For the past 3 times that I gotten the black screen or my pc shutting off after a second, messing with ran worked. Now I know what those light means. Since it keeps happening my guess is one of the rams doesn’t work but I’ll keep an eye out on the led lights now! Helpful videos man!

So, Odd question. I Recently did a custom build, When i finished the Red (CPU) and Yellow (DRAM) are constantly on, I've tried reseating all the ram, doing ram 1 at a time (Different sticks) Don't see any damage. Lights are not blinking, Just solid RED & Yellow. Looked at CPU itself don't see anything wrong, Tried briefly without CPU Fan to see if maybe it was pressure? Didn't change it. Only thing i haven't tried is CMOS spent a good 9 hours trying to fix. Anyone else have any other suggestions? I'm thinking it is CMOS or Motherboard itself, I've decided to stop touching it and bring it in to a local expert before i make the issue worse. Just trying to collect as much data and suggestions as i can. And yes, I Tried leaving it running for an hour to see if maybe it was doing memory training? Lights never went away.
I checked your pc specs in pcpartpicker.com and it seems like the specs are compatible, i didn't get your ram model name though so you can check it again just in case, usually the website will tell you if ever there are incompatibilities. If there is anything i can think of, perhaps the motherboard needed bios update. since the pc are all brand new i suggest bring it to the local shop where you got it from and have them do the bios update for you

i notice most build from last year's motherboad stocks have this kind of problem. As i always tell my clients to just use it normally but if it bothers you so much you can fix that by updating the bios. Since your pc was working since march 2023 i don't think its a problem but you need to update bios at some point. just be careful if you're updating it yourself for the first time, check this for more info ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o
My dram debug started lightening after i tried to change my cpu and than changed back to download the needed bios update for the new one... before it worked and after that nothing works any more... i already did everything you said...
i hope you did not interrupt the bios update in any way because that will destroy the motherboard. Since you updated the motherboard bios for the new cpu then the old one will no longer work. the one you installed might not be compatible with the new one so you have to double check the bios update version specifically for your new cpu. most motherboards nowadays doesn't need monitor to update bios, usually there is a flash bios button on the motherboard's io. just place the usb with the bios update file in it and nothing else, place it at the specific motherboard's usb bios input then press the flash bios button. each motherboard has its lighting indicator to see if update is done or still in progress so check your motherboard manual for that

this has been an issue ever since this year 2024 enters. most motherboards are like this for some reason. if you look into the comments there are a lot of people who had the same issue. you can actually ignore it but if its bothering you so much the fix there is to update the bios firmware. make sure the firmware is compatible with your current cpu because if you made a mistake you'll lose monitor signal. check this video too for more info ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o

@@MacCoyzkie So I have tried it all. Even did a minimal post with no ram, no drives and the CPU debug light is on. So I think it’s fried. This is the second motherboard I have tried. PSU works as it should. So, have a new CPU coming and hoping that fixes it. 😖
Have the VGA on sometimes and off sometimes but the system is working fine playing games and everything dont understand why is it sometimes on and sometimes off though :/

At first I had DRAM LED turned on with no display. After cleaning the RAM like you showed here, the CPU LED was turned on. Then I unplugged the keyboard, Mouse and Ethernet cable, It actually work. PC started normally and restarted twice didn't face the same issue. But I noticed my SSD's lifetime health become 99%. Is it normal or Should I take my pc to service center for check-up
I had issue with vga led turn on. When I try the gpu on another rig, it posts. Does that mean the motherboard itself is busted? Or should i try with cmos battery replacement?
if this is a new pc build you might want to consider a bios update. usually you'll see "power saving mode" on your display if the mobo needed a new cmos battery, just clear cmos for 5 minutes for now. if still doesn't work then yes it is a dead motherboard
So I have the boot light always on and I’ve tried everything you said but I still can’t get it to post I’ve swapped the storage and still got the same problem same with the cable and port
I tried 2 different video cards and it does it with both of them the LED stays on the PC starts up normally, to make it turn off I have to restart the PC and so it stays off I don't think it's the faulty video cards, do you have any suggestions? Defective motherboard?

Hi, i just got the issues with vga led light on, i was playing a game then the screen suddenly goes blank. I've tried to power it back on, but then the pc beeps, 1 long beep n twice shorter beeps. I've tried to unplugged the gpu card, but the pc still beeps and the vga led is on, so goes when i tried the dram. My specs are MSI H310M pro v plus, intel i3 9700, 8gb radeon sapphire, i hope you could help, thanks
the beeps means motherboard can't detect the gpu, if you already tried to reseat the gpu and its still the same then the gpu might be the problem. Have the gpu tested in your friend's pc to double check and if you have the same results perhaps the gpu is done
@Mac Coyzkie thank you for the reply, i think im going to do what you're suggested, and i hope my gpu's okay, considering how much gpus price nowaday, thanks a lot 🤝
Hello. I’ve finished building my pc. And got through bios and now have windows. But whenever I go to boot my pc back up again, the red cpu led and yellow ram led comes up on motherboard. hello I have a question. i am building my first PC and the boot light is always on even though in the bios it tells me i have something plugged in which is my ssd. any idea what else could be the issue?
Comp just did the "No display detected again". Works fine the night before and then randomly the next day when I go to boot it I get the no display connected on monitor despite no debug lights. Have done every fix, replacement possible, stress tested, blah blah. I think it's the refurbished MSI motherboard that's been causing me issues. I'm just going to have to disassemble and return the item as I read others have done with the x570s tomahawk. Never had this many issues with a PC in my entire lifetime.
Last thing. How is one supposed to diagnose whether it's the motherboard, GPU , Monitor or Cable? By process of cancellation I have ruled out most. If it's working and the GPU temps are great and it's passing 3D mark tests and then this just continually happens. Returning the board and if that doesn't resolve it my days of PC building are over lol
@@Yahowah777 led light colors are just the motherboard's feature, some do have these stuff and some don't but the idea there is when it started lighting up it is checking the hardware if its correctly functioning, led will be steady meaning there is a problem but if it disappears it means it read the hardware and was functioning correctly. there are a lot of angles you need to check if you got no display and fix may depend on how the pc problem started so check these links out for more info ua-cam.com/video/F-dLBIomghY/v-deo.html or this ua-cam.com/video/bsivwuSlPL4/v-deo.html to know which component is causing the no signal problem test your monitor first with a console or laptop if you have one, replace hdmi/dp because at times its just the cable, have a friend test your ram sticks and gpu and if one of those does not work as well then that is the culprit but if it does work normally then it might be your motherboard or psu to check psu you need something like this ua-cam.com/users/shortsYrC3PlflLq0 and if the psu works fine then the motherboard is the culprit. there is no way to test the board alone and you really need the local shop's help at this because at times you just need to update the bios but before you do that watch this for safety ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o

Hey Mac Coyzkie! Quick question! Still having trouble with my PC and I started to look around for information and stuff. I read that the Debug lights colors don’t matter when you boot up your pc. Supposedly it only matter when the Debug lights turn back on and stay on. Is that true?
When my pc boots up the CPU led light is Red
Then my Dram led light goes on Yellow
Follow with GPU/vga led light White
The boot led light sometimes doesn’t go off.
My PC turns on btw
The issue am having is that my PC starts running slow and then it turns off. I used to work around it by removing my ram stick and putting them back on and I would be able to game for hours. Then couple days ago my little trick stop working. Swapping the ram stick won’t work anymore. My Pc runs good for a solid 30 minutes and then it just lags and turns off.
Also for the first time my pc got a warning screen that my CPU temperature was high
So point of all this was if the debug light that turn on with a different color at the start are actually warning or that’s just how my Motherboard turns on because none of the light stay on afterwards. I thought those light indicated what issue my pc has but if that’s it natural start up then idk what my issues is. Anyways thanks in advance
in some cases the led colors matters depending on the motherboard manufacturer but mostly it doesn't matter. if you did received a warning about cpu temp then that might be a cpu cooler not working properly, this always happens to aio cooler pump not working, if you are using air cooler then it might not be touching the cpu so i suggest replace the thermal paste and use a better one. more info here ua-cam.com/users/shortsyWJehPzuVdw

My dram debug started lightening after i tried to change my cpu and than changed back to download the needed bios update for the new one... before it worked and after that nothing works any more... i already did everything you said...
i hope you did not interrupt the bios update in any way because that will destroy the motherboard. Since you updated the motherboard bios for the new cpu then the old one will no longer work. the one you installed might not be compatible with the new one so you have to double check the bios update version specifically for your new cpu.
most motherboards nowadays doesn't need monitor to update bios, usually there is a flash bios button on the motherboard's io. just place the usb with the bios update file in it and nothing else, place it at the specific motherboard's usb bios input then press the flash bios button.
each motherboard has its lighting indicator to see if update is done or still in progress so check your motherboard manual for that

that's normal, the motherboard actually checks the parts if its working. if your pc starts fine you shouldn't worry about it

this has been an issue ever since this year 2024 enters. most motherboards are like this for some reason. if you look into the comments there are a lot of people who had the same issue. you can actually ignore it but if its bothering you so much the fix there is to update the bios firmware. make sure the firmware is compatible with your current cpu because if you made a mistake you'll lose monitor signal. check this video too for more info ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o

Returning the board and if that doesn't resolve it my days of PC building are over lol
@@Yahowah777 led light colors are just the motherboard's feature, some do have these stuff and some don't but the idea there is when it started lighting up it is checking the hardware if its correctly functioning, led will be steady meaning there is a problem but if it disappears it means it read the hardware and was functioning correctly.
there are a lot of angles you need to check if you got no display and fix may depend on how the pc problem started so check these links out for more info ua-cam.com/video/F-dLBIomghY/v-deo.html or this ua-cam.com/video/bsivwuSlPL4/v-deo.html
to know which component is causing the no signal problem test your monitor first with a console or laptop if you have one, replace hdmi/dp because at times its just the cable, have a friend test your ram sticks and gpu and if one of those does not work as well then that is the culprit but if it does work normally then it might be your motherboard or psu
to check psu you need something like this ua-cam.com/users/shortsYrC3PlflLq0 and if the psu works fine then the motherboard is the culprit. there is no way to test the board alone and you really need the local shop's help at this because at times you just need to update the bios but before you do that watch this for safety ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o
I haven't built my pc yet. I'm currently in a BIOS update as I type this. My motherboard is stuck on the CPU debug led. I have nothing connect to my motherboard accept the power supply for my BIOS update. What should I do?

I have this prob inconsistent boot, i gave up and buy new cpu mobo and ram for new system, gave up my fx system, so stressful to troubleshoot i did the reseating, eraser method, ram isolation but no joy.
My pc has the light blinking between cpu and dram and idea on what the problem is. It happened after I knocked my desk and my pc froze and after force shutting it down it just blinks between the two
that's difficult to figure out, is there any written indication what is that light for?
can i please ask, what will happen if i continue working with my ram while i have this problem ? i have 16x2 ram (32g).
i figured out i have this problem because there is a orange(yellow) lights turnes on everytime i turn my pc on! please help if possible thanks
if it stays on that's a problem but if you can still use your pc while the light is steady then the motherboard just needs bios update, it happened to some of my clients ever since 2023, this may have something to do with the stock motherboard bios whether be intel or amd builds

I also tried my gpu to other pc but still got the same problem 100% fan speed, blackscreen. I clean the gold plated for ram and gpu but still no. It might be the thermal paste of gpu ?? Cause of overheat?

Hello! I have this problem this has stumped me for months now.
I've updated bios
My cpu pins aren't bent
I've replaced thermal paste.
I built my PC in January 2022 and it failed on May 2023.

Thanks bro this helped me a lot i hope you get everything you want in life
no problem bro! thanks too, hopefully i do
I got this problem today. But in my case i was playing a game then after exiting the game it turned garbage display suddenly then blue screen and then no display on monitor. So i unplug it then turn back on then this happened, ram led is on, all fans spinning but my kb and mouse not on and no display.
Update: It turned back on! I install my ram on slot 1 and 3. I think the ram slot is the problem. But i can’t OC it to 3200mhz why is that?
@@carl3549 it might be a faulty ram slot indeed but sometimes it is just dusty so clean the ram slots too. about the oc, answer may depend on the pc specs

Bro, I removed my nvme m2 and put it back on, but it didn't work out, and it's still with the led on boot, do you know if there's any error in m2?
can you try a different boot drive, make sure it doesn't have windows installed in it. you should see "reboot and select proper boot drive" on your display, this means your pc is fine and its just the nvme is faulty.
now if you are experiencing the same then this might be a motherboard problem, try to update the bios, be careful if you are going to do it yourself make sure you watch this first ua-cam.com/users/shortsnfH5Do3Dq3o
bios should be compatible with your current cpu , do a bit of research on this. if you don't know how to do the bios update you need to bring your pc at a local shop and let them do it for you
@@MacCoyzkie Everything worked out here, I decided to put a pendrive and ended up giving video, but I found it very strange because I entered the BIOS of my motherboard, and it says that there is an XrayDisk 512gb nvme m2, connected to the motherboard, but in the past, my pc was not booting, but it only booted when I used the pendrive, can you tell me if the nvme is working or is it just some visual bug?
@@santoss2957 XrayDisk 512gb nvme m2, its a drive connected on your motherboard nvme slot. as for the pc only working when the pendrive is attached, this may have something to do on how windows was installed, whoever installed windows in your pc he may know what's the reason
All the VGA problems you listed that it could be, could be true, but for me i feel like it isnt since if i press the power button i get the VGA LED but i am able to press the reset button then it boots up all fine and no VGA light turns on
