Is there anything negative to say about vintage Seikos? I have vintage Grand Seiko, King Seiko, Seikomatic, Seiko Lord Marvel, Seiko Crown, Seiko Cronos, all keeping good time, never any probs, and cheap!
why the silicon hate? thing is, nobody knows how to adjust hairsprings anyway, transition metals or otherwise. nobody but a very very few expert watchmakers. everyone else just replace the balance wheel because the effort is just not worth the price. i only know of Grand Seiko who adjusts the hairspring in their 9S85, because they showed it in their video. Anyone other watch brands who have made that claim?
It's not hate, HorseShu, it's a choice. If I prefer to collect watches with adjustable hairsprings, why would I want a watch with an unadjustable hairspring? Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci thanks for the reply. this 'challenge' you've set for yourself will definitely make for a more exciting collection. other than Grand Seiko, it feels like only the ultra-expensive independent brands are still doing it. Cheers!
I would tell someone new to watch collecting: Don't buy a watch as an investment. Buy what you like, or you will never wear it.
Great point David! Take care, Bill
I always late, and waiting 12 hours until the live chat comment is shown...
I prefer not engaging the silicon trolls as much. ^^
Me neither Olli. Take care, Bill
