I would have been losing my mind!!! Happiness overload! My face was tingling by the end. I had to go drink coffee and chill out for a little bit lol. These guys are true Rock Heroes!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi, around 1988 Jimmy was to put on a concert in Karratha, Western Australia. It’s located in the North West, with extreme temperatures, and when it rained it flooded. People had to travel hundreds of miles to get there, on dirt roads. So many had to swim in the creeks, got bogged etc. They had to cancel Saturday nights concert because of that rain. Jimmy had to leave early the next day but, he heard of the all the drama people faced to get there. Management told him he had to leave Sunday morning and Jimmy refused to leave early. He said after all they went through to get here they will see a concert, he left late Sunday night. What a great down to earth bloke.
I was there - 16 years old (had to go to school the next day) having absolutely no idea that I was literally witnessing the best band in the entire world. The 80's in Australia were incredible for live music. Jimmy was totally pissed the entire show but didn't miss a beat. It will never be repeated - amazing to look back on it now and realise how lucky we were.
Any songs from the Cold Chisel last stand tour. Will blow your mind dude. That was their last concert. But they are still putting out albums today. Great Australian music
Wild Thing =Jimmy Barnes! He certainly was a wild boy on stage. Us Aussies call this "pub rock" and Cold Chisel was at the top of the list. Mr Ian Moss on lead guitar. "You got nothing I want"
Bon Scott would carry Angus on his shoulders through the crowd at some of their gigs. The US invented Rock and Roll. The UK had their influence on it, and then Australia perfected it.
This is the best cover of wild thang I've ever seen . I saw it a couple years ago on another channel and it blew me away . And Jimmy Barnes is one that just can't be beat at anything he sings .
Yes we have some great rock artists downunder if you want something just about as memorable with some absolute sic guitar and wild drumming and that's not even mentioning the lead singers performance which is a standout..you must react to Midnight oil ..stand in line...oils on water concert..you won't regret it..cheers from downunder
One of the greatest Bands of all time IMO. And their US record company really stuffed up with these guys. I've seen lots of legends live and these guys were the most entertaining.
He was pissed [drunk] as he always was in those days. He drank beer and vodka on stage. Saw them in Brisbane - the venue used to be a ballroom and the floor actually bowed with everyone jumping ! Chisel as a band was sooo tight because Jimmy just did his thing once he was over a limit and they just followed. Mossy can play standing, sitting [dragged down really] and getting up!
I am so thankful I was born in Australia and grew up listening to Pub Rock and awesome bands like this!!! Australia has a vast treasure trove of brilliant musicians!!! Jimmy is now in his 60's and still rocks out!! He just had a hip replacement, but it hasn't slowed him down too much!
I have been to three of his concerts, the more Jimmy drank the louder he got and the audience was so there with him, I mean man there were joints being handed around it was electric.
Jimmy was Australia's wild man of rock all hard-drinking, crazy curls and leather. As he got older his career began to falter. Suddenly, he re-invents himself. Out comes the short haircut and suits with the continental style tucked tie and BOOM - he's back.
Terrific, isn't it? Love your smile. And it isn't a one off. I saw Chisel in smaller venues - clubs and pubs - and they were just as good. Night after night. To be in a "crowd" of 200 people with Chisel playing ,,,,,,
All respect to you sir, for taking the time to review this video/song. As you know, Chisel was cult, iconic & explosive in their day. They were THE must see live performance of the time. This was normal for Chisel…. Pure explosion… a little trivia for you… Barney’s uses his second set of vocal chords… apparently a blessing cause he will never lose it !!! Anyway I was there at this last stand front and centre … and Mossy and Barnsey dragged a huge ice bucket across the stage over us …!!!

how fn cool were gigs before the days of people holding up their mobile phones 🤘 my first gig when I was 14 was INXS and I seen Jimmy the following year. best memories
Great reaction..his live performance of bow river is great and so is his performance with INXS doing good times. Basically all his performances are great. Jimmy 1st met Bon Scott the first frontman for AC/DC when he was 16. He also was good friends with malcom and Angus young from AC/DC. Can you imagine how cool it would have been to see them performing together. I wish we could travel back in time. Much respect from Australia 🇦🇺
Jimmy and his big brother John “Swannee” Swan, sang for a band called ‘Fraternity’ after Bon Scott left it to join ACϟDC. Yep, they all knew each other.
Thank you! Seeing Bon or Brian with Jimmy, and with Angus and Mossy on the guitars, all at the same time in an epic 10 minute rock and roll performance would have taken over the plant. All total badasses!!! For Real!!!!!
Bon Scott 2 front man of AC/DC how quickly everyone forgets Dave Evens the 1st front man Dave is still doing the rounds of pubs n clubs around the world living off the fame of the AC/DC name
Thanks for this. Check out their song 'you got nothin I want'....a response to the US rock labels that tried to change who they were. That song rocks with anger.
It feels like a movie because it was from a movie. Last Stand is a documentary film of the final concert appearances by Australian rock band, Cold Chisel, prior to their first disbandment.
Absolutely gem of a performance. Almost 50 yrs later still listening to Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss. A wonderful reaction. If you want to experience a show topper of a performance where the lead singer spends minutes in the audience and has them as his choir, check out another Australian Band ...The Teskey Brothers performance of "Hold Me" live at the Forum. It will leave you speechless.
Jimmy still tells a story when they were performing at the Largs Pier Hotel here in Adelaide back in the day that one of the patrons went out to the car and bought a shotgun in and blew a hole in the roof because he was enjoying the show so much! Golden days of Ausssie pub rock, Cold Chisel and The Angels hard to beat
It's so good to see your reaction. Can you believe these guys struggled to get a gig outside Australia? As you loved this video, you are sure to love their live performance of Bow River. There are a few different videos, the best one is Cold Chisel - "Bow River" (Live, 2003). Lead vocals are sung by Ian Moss.
@@robrichards585 I’m friends with his daughter and we were taking a selfie. He was leaning over us to see the pic and I stuck my hand up not realising he was there and poked him in the eye. Right before a show 😬 He laughed about it and joked that needed a steak.
Great video. This is what we think of as pub rock'n'roll. I have no idea why it didn't catch on overseas (yes I know they went etc). Just shows the "controllers" are in control.
I can see why they wouldn't. That HAD to be a legit, hard-working tough guy scene for sure. A time when a pub brawl didn't require police and counseling, just a hand shake and a beer after!

I love them already, and we just started! I must buy Jimmy's books! Cold Chisel is certified Bad Ass!!🤘🤘 Thank you, I feel blessed to be able to share these moments with you guys!!
@@Texas_Love not sure if you’re on Twitter or Instagram but you should follow Jimmy Barnes. His whole family can sing and they all entertained us online through Covid lockdowns. He always posts what he’s doing at home and it feels like they’re neighbours to us. Their geese just had goslings and his wife posts all the updates !
@@Dr_KAP Kappy...Christmas goose....Mmmmm...
@@Texas_Love if you get the audio books Jimmy narrates all of them.
