Red jacket on stage at the end - Johnny Diesel. He is now Jimmy's brother in law and a brilliant muso and singer. The song at the end is Good Times - written by Vanda and Young (google that, you will be surprised). The song was featured on the Lost Boys soundtrack to the movie The Lost Boys.
This wasn't too long. It's actually extremely enjoyable to see you get to know the man and artist. It shows a real interest as opposed to watching a 'trending' song, band or singer just for clicks. As others have said, this 60 minutes story is like a small taste of his 2018 film Working Class Boy. By that time, I guess he was ready to be truly honest about how horrific his childhood really was and it explains more about why he was out there as a teen picking fights - he was probably a really messed up and angry kid who thankfully managed to become a living legend. I'm from Adelaide and he's considered an absolute hero to us locals. I'd watch you watch that whole film and not consider it too long at all. And that last song with him singing with Diesel was Good Times which he originally sang with INXS.
This was great, I'm sure I saw it back in the day but I don't remember it, so it was fun to watch. Also shows that you genuinely like him, so many reactors jumping on the bandwagon when they see his music getting all the views from Aus, and saying they love it, they wouldn't be watching this. I know Facebook isn't cool anymore but if you follow him on that, it's awesome, they post a lot! They started doing these 'living room' live performances during the lockdowns, him and his fam, just acoustic sing a longs and they still do them. Awesome. ❤
No it’s great to see you react to this interview, I think you appreciate his music more when you realise where he came from. Also you can see why he is such an icon here as he’s been entertaining us for a long time.
That was a really great interview & just watching the joy you get from our beloved Barnsey puts a huge smile on my face. Your smile is infectious & I love your reactions so thanks for that.🙂
The last song was Good Times, he did a version with INXS. There is a doco of his early life, it was a lot chaotic. He never had a bed for himself, until his mum re-married, though that didn't last either.
It was way worse than that, the fighting was going on in his home, mum and dad were always fighting, his dad was a boxer. If you look up ‘Working Class Boy’. You can see his story. At the time of this interview he still hadn’t come to grips with his childhood, he was still running for a few decades yet.
That was amazing. I've never seen it before the other documentary is called Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy. It goes for about 90 minutes though but worth a watch all the same . Listening to what his ex-boss said reminded me of my mum every time I had some of his music on she would yell out "turn that screaming bugger off "
To see Jimmy and his kids rock as babies, then today as world class musicians, seems fitting. The music industry in USA didn’t embrace he and Cold Chisel, and the people missed out…in the real time anyway.
I lived two streets away (Alexander Street) from the Largs Pier Hotel in 1988/89. I used to climb the roof and explore the upper floors and balconies with my friends when bored when I was around 8 years old. I suppose I could've seen him there even but being a kid I didn't know jack when it came to celebrities so wouldn't have known or cared.
Yeah, that was interesting video. Funny to hear his old time boss talk about him as a worker and also hear Jimmy himself joke he saved his wife Jane from a boring University job. Fun seeing his kids that full adults now. He will always retain a bit of the Scottish accent. Hear the same from Angus Young from ACDC. Nearly everyone born in the UK seems to retain lots of the origin accent even after many many many decades here. For some reason Olivia NewtonJohn kind of lost hers from England as a little girl, but her older sister retained it.
There's a great interview with the ABC interviewer Andrew Denton on his show "Enough Rope" from 2004, with Jimmy and wife Jane, where he discusses other aspects of his early life regarding his birth father, and how he was raised by his step father (who he got the Barnes surname from). He also discusses his son David Campbell and gives some interesting info on why he is able to sing as he does without straining his voice. This is more a typical interview, than the documentary style used on 60 Minutes : ua-cam.com/video/pRJctHahUJA/v-deo.html I think it's worth checking out.
This was a good first interview with Jimmy I will list a few to start with, 1st - Sunday Night - Jimmy Barnes - Working Class Man. 2nd - 7.30 It Takes Two - Jimmy Barnes & David Campbell - ( David is Jimmy’s son who was born when Jimmy was 16) - 3rd - Booktopia Live with Jimmy Barnes and David Campbell - 4th - Interview with Jimmy Barnes - Silverlights Entertainment - 5th - Cold Chisel 60 min - 6th - Sunday Night - Cold Chisel reunion 2011 - 7th - Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy (2018) Official Trailer. This is from the film which was made. Jimmy’s 3 books are “Working Class Boy”; “Working Class Man” & “Killing Time”. They’re great reads, Jimmy writes well. Love your reactions
I love watching Jimmy’s interviews or him and Jane talking in the garden or showing us what they are cooking. Jimmy has 3 books. I have them. Working Class Boy. Working Class Man & Killing Time - and his face on his clock, with alarm which Is Jimmy screaming lol Yes I can still hear his Scottish accent even in his 60s
He said drambuie which is a whiskey liqueur 40% alcohol 🥃 😂 Euka is a card game. That last song is Good Times this is a live clip of him and INXS performing it ❤ ua-cam.com/video/TimxLOW922o/v-deo.html
This was great mate. I thought it was going to be the one where he blew the ladies ear drums out with his vocal warm up but not to be. Awesome just the same
Drambuie is one of the better known liqueurs..... dating back to the 1800’s. Made commercially under private ownership from early 1900’s and now owned by Grant & Sons...... Grants scotch whisky. I hate scotch whisky but like Drambuie....... scotch , honey , herbs and some spices.
Now that you are well down the Australian Music rabbit hole you need to check out the screaming jets Better and Shivers (live versions are better) and Dave Gleeson (the front man) is a maniac. Also, The Angels - Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again (live version is mandatory for crowd involvement) when Doc Neeson (front man of the Angels) passed they recruited Dave Gleeson to replace him. Hunters and Collectors - Throw your arms around me, when the river runs dry and holy grail Also Hoodoo Gurus - like wow wipe out, what's my scene and miss freelove '69 As for Chocolate Starfish check out their original song - mountain.
Drambuie is a Whiskey liqueur. Mixture of scotch, honey and a bunch other stuff (probably rubbing alcohol as well). Bloody awful, I remember my grandad (mums stepdad, scottish born new zealander) drank it, nicked some a few times, vomited almost everytime. Euchre is a card game, played a lot working class Australia and britain. Never learn't the rules, but saw the old guys playing it in pubs where I grew up. Places in the middle of nowhere where there's nothing else to do
its not true actually......jimmy was drunk on very little, After a quart of a bottle , he would just spill the rest. So, that is where the legend of 6 bottles a show came in . He was and remains , very humble though - & you can often (still ) meet him after a show at a fish shop- playin pinnies and scoffin 5 steamed dimmies ,with a packet of winnie blues under his t shirt shoulder.....but dont tilt the table ....he will give you his death scream .. n ' you'll be finished i tell ya !

Just makes us love jimmy even more being reminded of how humble and polite he has always been!!
The last song 'Good Times' - a great version of this is with INXS - love this song
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🌏🪐🌕🙏🌸🦋🇦🇺😎🌷🐝🦉🏡🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 thanks, i remember watching this back in the day😃 love Jimmy Barnes 😃
Last song was good times originally done by the Easybeats, and then covered by Jimmy and INXS
Thanks for reacting to this mate, it was awesome

Johnny is from Scotland and came to Oz in the 60’s and grew up in Adelaide. In my home town, at the same time. Fantastic

I haven’t read his books but they are meant to be excellent and were best-sellers.

People love jimmy Barnes because he just seems like a down to earth kinda guy. He's a great singer but without the ego
Great reaction 👍 Not too long at all brother👍
✌️
Jimmy and Jane are the greatest love story ever. She saved his life.
A wee dram of Drambuie is guaranteed to give you a huge hangover 😂 still have nightmares over the stuff 😂
Great reaction loved this ❤
Good Times is that last song. He’s singing it with Diesel in that clip but also did a version with INXS.

You need to see more like this please! There's plenty of docos on Jimmy and Chisel

Great reaction Tex, good to see this old, 60 minutes, interview again, and no, it wasn’t too long.👍
Can u imagine Jane and jep bringing home Jimmy Barnes and Johnny diesel to their parents.. would have loved to be a fly on the wall 😂

I think it's worth checking out.
You need to react to 'Good Times' (the last song) which was originally written by the Easybeats and made really famous by Jimmy and INXS.
Director Ron Howard used this song on the soundtrack of the ‘Mister Mum’ .. movie.
when cars are getting made on the Detroit assembly line.
You need to read his books to get the whole story........ great reads!

Fill a shot glass full of Drambuie and drop it into a pint of beer and you have the drink called “Depth Charger”
It’s a bogans cocktail
The thing is?...
He's just a bloke from down the road...
And He Knows that.
I love watching Jimmy’s interviews or him and Jane talking in the garden or showing us what they are cooking. Jimmy has 3 books. I have them. Working Class Boy. Working Class Man & Killing Time - and his

Read his books, Tex, I urge you. Read his books. Jim's childhood was brutal. If he didn't have his music, god only knows how he would have turned out.
Definitely!

Please checkout Chisels performance at the Countdown Music Awards in the mid 80's, also read the back story. Cheers

Euchre is a card game
think the film was named after book working class boy
Drambuie is a smooth scotch whiskey, you most likely know that by now 😄
😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Yes Euchre is a card game. And Elizabeth hasn`t changed, it`s still a rough place. Grew up listening to Jimmy & Cold Chisel.
One more 8th - Jimmy Barnes The Weekly - Enjoy ❤
If you.think.there to long always brack them up into smaller lots like part 1 and 2 like a lot of other sites do
