I have attended workshops given by Dr Levy in Florida. She is truly amazing, very knowledgeable and caring. Her research, her guidelines, her expertise have been invaluable to those of us who rescue.
Shelters need to disclose their testing protocols to the public. I have 3 other cats now exposed to a kitten I adopted that is Felv positive. I thought the shelter tested all kittens, it turns out they only test kittens over a certain age. It's absolutely outrageous that they expect my local vets (that are overworked) to know that he wasn't tested. He had clean bills of health from 2 different vets. His testing status needed to be disclosed at the time of adoption so I could have had him tested before exposing my other cats. Now I have hundreds of dollars worth of vet bills. It's irresponsible not to disclose this to new adopters.
