I loved this love story but the ending left me utterly speechless and sobbing. The story is so well written and shows how deeply these two loved eachother not just romanticly but at times platonically. It's one of the best things I've watched and I have watched a lot and I'm very impressed that Netflix did something worth watching that teaches you something about life
man i got SCAMMED. It was advertised as a rom-com, and i went into it blind (i didn't watch the movie or read the book, but i defo will do sometime) AND I CRIED SO DAMN MUCH.
It’s such a danger - my husband and I were watching and I “knew” what was going to happen because I had seen the Ann Hathaway movie. Thankfully I was able to warn him it gets sad and, for now, he’s opted not to keep watching - it’s not something you are always so ready to see in any moment. Such a great story

I know a couple that were friends for years. They admitted feelings for each four years ago. It’s a relief for everyone that knows them. So yes, there are couples out there like this.
The problem with Dexter is that he would always introduce her as a friend. She would always be in the friend zone while he would be hooking up with other girls. Also, he would never like be in a relationship with other girls or even with her I mean that’s just real fucked up there. He said that he was OK hooking up with her but not getting attached. I guess at the end when he got engaged and had to take care of of a baby who wasn’t even his in the first place this is in the movie I mean I seen the movie already and I know how an I’m not sure because it’s a bit different. But he just does not wanna admit that he has feelings for her and I guess he just scared to be in a relationship with her and he treats her like a friend and she really really likes him and she would like to be something more than just a friend but I guess she lost a shot when she learned that she was getting married and now that he was going to be a Dad and it was her turn to move on.
I think he was also afraid of rejection, because she had shown she wasn’t afraid of rejecting him and that she would reject him if he wasn’t good enough. He knew she’d reject him even though she loved him, and I think he also felt like he wasn’t good enough for her. I think they both felt a little insecure before each other. For Emma, it was feeling awkward and anxious about being too boring/not attractive enough/too working class to fit in to his life. For Dexter, it was anxiety about not being purposeful enough/moral/sensible/adult/intelligent/‘worthy’ of someone he actually genuinely cared about and didn’t want to hurt by being a shitty partner. Which is why they’re both more comfortable being friends for so long, even though they are deeply in love, because as friends they can be vulnerable with each other without feeling the risk of rejection, and because you can tolerate imperfections and character deficiencies in friends that you wouldn’t in a partner.
It’s like both of them think they’re out of each other’s leagues, Emma thinking why would someone like him would go after her, and him thinking why would an intelligent girl like her go out with a dumbass like him. 😂😂😂

OMG 😭😭😭😭😭 I’ll be honest, this makes me think of this guy friend I had…seems the chemistry was there but it never went anywhere: I’m afraid to open up and fear getting used or mistreated, and he’s a player who doesn’t know how to treat women right. People have said they loved seeing us together when we interacted (as friends) but I know being with him would have been a problem. Deep down I feel we could have had something real special, if only he was open to being vulnerable with a woman and if I felt that, I would trust him and perhaps try something with him. Oh well, maybe next lifetime.
It's not a remake of the film, it's a film adaptation of the book 'One Day' by David Nicholls. This TV adaptation is way closer to the book than the film was.
I just think Anne Hathaway's Emma was better but Leo Woodall's Dex is so much better here. The movie makes him seem so much more of an a**hole and I couldn't stand him in some scenes. But I liked the series but didn't like the chemistry between them. And it's not only about the appearance of actors. I just don't think Emma could really show emotions. I think she is a good actor but I only got the emotions from Dex's side. Emma's feelings always felt intellectualized. Their talks weren't synchronized, that's why the chemistry didn't occur to me that much. I still liked the series but I think it affected the believability a lot. I was not trying to compare it to the movie but I couldn't stop at some point because I couldn't really feel anything when they finally came together. Just the problem with casting imo, but I think the main character felt more like Dex than Em because of the emotional component only being there. Strong women depictions don't mean not emotion-showing.
I think leo who played dexter his acting was amazing .. emma is goid but lacked the intensity of emotion of chemistry lacked that spark she was a bit emotionaly wooden tbh if she had a softer warmth .. he was brilliant this got to me this habibg lost my soul mate. Hit home... but bloody good i just kept wwaiting to feel that real spark ..
Didnt like the series, I didnt think there was any chemistry between the two, I loved Dexter's performance, and Emma is a good actress in a quirky way but her performance on this series was not my cup of tea. The crazy jumps from episode to episode and the gaps made it difficult to follow up, so I would give it a 4. It does not beat the movie.

He did a great job, he was emotional and he showed it but her acting was not good. I mean she was going out with the French guy and then comes back to the apartment like I'm here.. the editing of the clips were really bad too..

I don’t agree at all. Their chemistry in the series was palpable, and I honestly side-eye those who prefer Leo’s Dexter AND Anne’s Emma.

I think you should have seen the ending. The chemistry grows as it goes on, which makes sense.
