He plays with such intensity, he was a bomb squad monster at the 2023 RWC. 3 turnovers in the second half of the final alone…..
He looks like he's more powerful than he used to be, without losing speed.
Thank you for this man. He is so underrated.
One of the most underrated players out there. Small For professional forwards standards but man he just puts in the work in all aspects. He's great to watch
I totally agreed, one of the best jackals in the world IMHO!!
kwagga is like a mini tank. Very quick and very strong. Also very tough. everything you want from a reserve. he always makes an impact when he comes on.
Hell of a player
Key to the 2023 WC win
What a player . Awesome ..👍🏉
i just watched the sprinboks vs wales in the autumn series. this man is an absolute beast
Kwagga you are a legend. SA didn't have any impact till you came on the field. Each game I waited 4 the 54th min knowing our best is coming on. Against France you were my man of the match.
Lovely to see third rowers that are < 100kgs perform. Proves that size isn’t much. I’ll take Savea over Vunipola any day
I'd take Carl fearns over vunipola tbf.... 🤣
@@chittsy99 nah that’s a bit extreme because vunipola hasn’t been in terrible form lately. But England has an impressive depth at back row, many younger guys are way better.
100 kgs of muscle, yeah not much
@@timmado8441 Kwagga is 91kg and Savea around 98kg. For forwards ye that’s not much, in fact it’s usually considered puny. Hamisj Watson was considered too small despite being 100-104 kg. Most forwards are between 108-130kgs and a lot go from 130-145kgs.
throw that arrow the other way my guy, Kwagga is
All the ex-sevens players seem to have an abnormal degree of confidence in international games.
They're used to taking risks under pressure, I just love how they're feeding into the boks team.
Kwagga Smith's power-to-weight ratio is also unmatched.
sevens is the special forces of rugby only the fittest play there
legends came out of the 7s program
lomu, muliaina, kolbe, arendse, jean de villers, ardie savea, joe rokocoko, tuisova, radradra etc
Extraordinaire joueur. Engagement total. Vitesse. Puissance. Courage. Et discret.
Rugby players come a dime a dozen. Warriors are few and far between. This is a warrior, rips the ball from any player on the park, i've seen him rip the ball a hundred and one times.. never seen a single player rip the ball from him. That's not a player.. that's a warrior. Seen him rip the ball and score .... against the all blacks .. not once.... WARRIOR. Type of dream player whom any coach wants to play when the assistants/analysts say "hey coach we don't have enough possession. Coach asks: is Kwagga on the park? Yes. Well then shut up. Warrior.
the cheslin kolbe of forwards
He is a big reason why we went 4 cups up. He is a tremendous player and really the unsung hero of our campaign. He is a walking cheat code 😂
Kwagga Smith = Swiss Army Kinfe. He is a Multi - tool !
World class player, but so underated 😔
Salute Kwagga, you are Bulletproof !
I'll never forget that time when Kwagga Smith outran Waisake Naholo!
What a Man, what a Player, what a...Springbok!!!!!
The summary of this video is Kwagga saying "give that to me"
and if you don't want to, i'll take it anyway. Thank you.
What a beast!! Great tribute bro 💪🇿🇦
Glad there is someone with a nose worse looking than mine. Thank you Kwagga.
looks like a fighter
This guy's a war dog
He's Pierre Spies and Duane Vermeulen combined.
Pierre Spies: Speed and pace
Duane Vermeulen: Strength and power.
For ‘small loose forward’ he is pretty damn explosive .. reminds me or Ardie savea
Great transition from 7s to 15s and incredible upper body strength
I love players that when they get their hands on the ball... They WANT to run with it. Doesn't matter if it is around you, through you, over you. But then have the wit to pass when they need to.
He is not without fault, but he is a good player.
He's a best example of it's not too late❤
He reminds me a lot of a Spies
and Brussow
As a former under sized 7 I've always cheered for Kwagga. I don't know if it's the current backrow combo or if its just that SA have finally figured out how to take advantage of his unique abilities but he's playing great right now. He was never gonna be an 8, he's an all action 7 who needs the freedom from set piece responsibility to fly all over the field making plays. Closest comparison i can think of is Neil Back.
But if SA can figure out how to deploy a "small" flanker, he is 95 kgs, then there's hope for rugby
May I ask how tall and heavy you are/were back in the days?
@@LomuHabana 181 cms 88 kgs
@@canadiancontent352 indeed, 88 kg is not much for a flanker/forward.
@@LomuHabana this was in the 90s with the right nutrition and training probably could have been closer to 95. Still smallish but quicker.
Guys like Kwagga are better off focusing on good chop tackles, being the first to the breakdown and supporting the outside backs, which bigger guys struggle with. Hooper for example is still very effective
Heinrich Brussow .... was similar

素晴らしい
A team of kwagga smiths literally beats a team of anyone else
Had an absolute blinder against wales my motm
Sker Kwagga... Legendary player...
It's amazing how forwards who occassionally break the first tackle are lauded... This guy manages to beat the first man almost every time, often with absolutely no space to work with. He tackles so much better than most forwards, as he hits below the waist often, and yet he isn't seen as a "world leading" forward. If he was achieving both of those and weighed 30kg more, he'd be the top forward in world rugby
He's a beast! Fast and strong.
He is a BEAST!!!
One of the best players ever
Never gets his due ! Yster!!!
Great tribute. I miss him!
He stepped in when DEtoit broke. Outstanding year for him.
The springboks own swiss army knife
Prior to the AIs I always thought he was a bit of a loose cannon. Now seems a more rounded player.
Will be interesting to see what happens when they have to choose between du Toit, Smith, Kolisi and Vermuelen in starting XV
Just provides something different with that 7s background. Don't often see a sub 100kg South African loose forward.
I've been saying this for a while. I mean I can see how they use him as part of the 'bomb squad' when PSDT gets tired. Problem is PSDT doesn't tire and putting kwagga on the bench is a waste of his talent, but the same with du Toit, kolisi and Vermeulen. It's a nice problem to have, but a problem none the less
My goodness! This guy, yoh!
The Rassie era of loose play and speed by the back line is insane. Time the boks had a fetcher like Kruger.
Absolute Beast!🍺😎
What a beast of a man!!
His nose be like. (
28 years old with the nose of a 70 year old retired boxer
Yep he crashed his quad bike as a kid
@@mattybhoy6522A token of a man who works hard for his team. Maybe a little too hard haha
Thank you for this! Are we due for an update?
For a big man he's got incredible speen & agility...what a legend!
A Jack of all trade for SA.
beast!
Wrong turn!

Excelente jugador, la cagó!!!
2:08.....total disregard for ones own health and safety....holy crap, dont want this man hunting me playing scrumhalve
Acurate description of a WARRIOR.
He is insanely fast for a forward.
IMHO very unlucky to have only 40 caps
I have always rated him even back when the lions did well under Ackermann. Kwagga is a beast.
At this rate he's going to get World Player of The Year very soon.
That is true
He reminds me of Heinrich Brüssow but just more quick and powerful... a beast of a player.
Jasper wiese deserves a tribute
The power skill and hunger of the Bokke 23 24 could never be repeated again ,, speed was behond comprehension 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤
Wrong turn😉
Chuck Norris is following kwagga smith
I have a question. In the first strip ball Kwagga won there? As his knee is on the deck doesn't he then become offside? Making the strip illegal?
I think his knee bounced off the ground and came back up before he initiated the turnover
Who said kwaggas were extinct!
How does he play forward and a back 🤨
He doesn't play back, only forward. He wore a 13 shirt yes, but that was in 7's. He use to be a 7's rugby player in the 15's off season but started to only focus on 15's a couple of years ago.
@@fouriejooste9484Thats why he’s such a versatile loose forward. He understands the game on multiple depths and he clearly incorporates that into his play style.
no highlights from the lions series' first test...
Mzansi Army Knife player?
Grootste yster
Why he is so short for a flanker and a number eight?
Height and weight doesn't tell even half of the story
Ardie who ?

Smith, beautiful English name. SA you're welcome for us giving you your best player 😇
And Kwagga? You English can’t even pronounce his first name😅
@@haseenah2923 Kwagga was my best mates name. And my son's. And my dad's. Beautiful English name!
