A year ago my husband said I was WAY over-reacting. Seriously questioned my sanity! Now, FINALLY, he is seeing the light. We have most of the supplies we need, at pre-inflation prices. GOD is Good!
And having a cerebral brain that God gifted YOU with is even better! Hope your hubby is onboard now!
I think most of us felt called to “nest.” I couldn’t find certain things last year so when I did I bought a couple of each item. I just stopped at Kroger store and there are so many holes on the shelves. I bought a bag of Fritos and they are so thin. I paid $3.99 for a 9 1/4 oz bag. Good lord!!!
God is Good!
God Is Good. 💝
They all think I was crazy too. If it wasnt for the wisdom of Alaskan Granny and her upbeat attitude I might not have continued. Presently I have three adult children, one recently married, and they have not stocked anything themselves. I feel a need to stock in my house for their failures and once again feel overwhelmed.
My dad lived in Florida and told me to fill gallon jugs 2/3 full. Place a layer of these jugs in bottom of a chest freezer. He put a board over top the gallon jugs and then filled freezer with food. When their electric was out for 10 days, they used up neighbors freezer food first (no frozen gallons of water so food thawed faster) and then started working on their own freezer. Lesson that my parents learned was to keep some smaller bottles of frozen water towards top of freezer. This would have come in handy for adding to a cooler to keep insulin refrigerated and for drinks.
Youre describing stand alone freezers. Even my big refrig freezer can't be used for freezing water. I am storing extra ice cubes. I have meat in my freezer.
@@lifeissweet9826 yes you are correct. I should have said that it was a chest freezer. Currently I only have refrigerator freezer and can only make sure that the ice bin is kept full. Wish I had room in my house for a chest freezer.
I know someone else has probably already mentioned "normalcy bias": the belief that because it has always been so, things won't change. They can and do. Thank you, AG, for your consistently rational posts.
I’m working on dehydrating potatoes, carrots, and jerky right now. My husband just killed and elk yesterday and we will be filling the freezer. Wonderful video Alaska Granny. I love that you are calmly encouraging people to prepare and not fear mongering.
Wow...how fortunate you are. Elk for dinner! Yum...
You might want to pressure can some of that meat in case we lose electricity
Question. So you chop up the elk. Then what? Do you cling rap the cuts and put them into your freezer ? And secondly let's say you froze the meat today. If you don't lose power how long can the cuts of meat be frozen for and then unfrozen and eaten? What is your guide for how long frozen meat is good for? Thanks for any info and i wish you and yours good luck.
@@jacquelinecallejas1390 my husband butchers it, we wrap in cling wrap and butcher paper. We keep it in a deep freeze that runs about -1 degree. We have used meat three years old using this method. He also freeze bags of less desirable trim pieces to use when we get tallow and grind elk burger. I have enough jars to pressure can in an emergency, but we have a duel fuel generator and backup solar in case of power failure.
@@MJ-fv7lh 3 years. Good to know. BTW What state are you in? Or are you in Canada? Country life really isn't for me but I admire people who live in places like Alaska. It just doesn't fit with my lifestyle. By the time I retire and have the flexibility to live away from others I will be too frail. Thanks
I have been a long term prepper for decades. There isn't a week that goes by that I don't buy something for my preps. Have plenty of food to last years but I add to it each week.. Don't forget to stock up on dry drink mixes.
This week and last I refocused on things like nail clippers, nail files , tooth brushes, anti acid relievers, gasx, pepto pills, pee pads, canned and dry dog food, canned air fresheners and plug in air fresheners, plastic baggies, foil, press and seal, matches and lighters. Things you use and need but most preppers over look.
I have these thing but thought it was time to add more.
I advise everyone to buy a year or two worth of body wash, soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, wet wipes, shampoo, conditioner, deodoran,. these type things.
Add in things like nails, screws, caulking, hack saw blades and anything that you use but might not be able to readily get in the near future..
I just sent my sister a list of things to stock. But my mind always thinks way ahead. We need to store larger size clothing for kids/grandkids including shoes, boots, coats, underwear and socks. For those already grown think about the items we wear that wear out the most. Socks, underwear, shoes, boots, gloves/mittens. Blankets, Extra pair of eyeglasses or readers.
I bought a portable toilet. You just put a small black bags and 🐈 cat litter inside.
Eva, that's awesome you are prepared, but please protect yourself by not advertising what you have 👍🙏
@@jackisears367 Thanks, But I would never let people know all that I have
I just mentioned the items listed to maybe help preppers realize they need to prep these item and not just food.
A good little series to watch: "Wartime Kitchen and Garden" it's a BBC show about life in England in WW2. Good stuff!
You should also catch up the BBC series, Wartime Farms. Very accurate and helpful series.
@@nephilimslayer73 Any of the "farm" series are great. Ruth Goodman does a great job of showing how everyday things used to be done.
@@essaboselin5252 my grandparents lived through 2 world wars and the Depression. My parents were born in the 1940’s. Although we are Aussies, a lot of what they covered on that series was historically accurate and eye-opening. I showed my Uncle some old photos from the family farms and he recognised the machinery they were using. My paternal Grandfather also served as a Private in 1944 while my grandmother ran the dairy farm with 9 children. I also posses my maternal grandmothers cookbook from 1950, which contains a lot of recipes from the food rations.
It brought my own family history to life, it was quality television. ❤️🇦🇺
That’s one of my favorite shows!!
Thanks for the recommendation.
A lot of people do not know how to cook meals from just basic food staples. Too many rely upon frozen microwaveable meals, frozen pizzas, packets of flavored instant oatmeal, sandwiches made with packaged luncheon meat and pre-sliced cheese, cans of condensed soups, etc. These "heat and serve" or "bake and serve" or microwave and serve" easy meals are the ones that sell out fast and may be slow to get replaced during a time when there are not enough truck drivers to transport convenience foods.
My best advice is to learn to cook basic foods (raw rice, dried pasta, raw meat, fresh or frozen vegetables...) and learn how to make some basic sauces from scratch and then combine these foods in different ways to make meals. Some examples: a home made meat and vegetable marinara sauce served over any type of cooked pasta and sprinkled with shredded cheese; sliced vegetables, thawed shrimp, raw eggs and leftover cooked rice stir-fried in hot oil plus a little oyster sauce to make shrimp fried rice; cooked hamburger, home cooked beans, canned tomatoes, diced onions and some chili powder simmered together to make chili cone carne y frijoles... If making yeast bread or dinner rolls from scratch is too much for you, then learn to make Southern biscuits and skillet cornbread from scratch --- there will still be self-rising flour and cornmeal for sale when all the frozen pizzas, Eggos, refrigerated biscuit dough, breakfast cereals, jars of factory made sauces and Lean Cuisine meals have sold out. You will also save money if you learn how to make meals the old fashioned way from basic foods.
I think you're pointing these people to - of all things - *paper cookbooks* in the 21st century ;-) We have a bookcase of them. The labels of some canned foods also have useful recipes on them. My better half has a large recipe box filled with index cards and a binder for recipes found online and printed 8 1/2 x 11 for future use - that online site may not be there when you want to use that recipe so it's a good use for the 3 cases of printer paper I bought back in the Dark Ages when the office supply stores had $9.99 sales on a case of 10 reams of copy paper.
I thought this too but I keep noticing the things that are hard to find in my stores are the items you need to cook from scratch and the premade stuff is pretty well stocked.
@@creativeandcalmingcrafts3403 Yes, there seems to be a lot of variability from one region to the next. We did a 33-day cross country RV trip from early July through early August this year and noticed this. One of the advantages of being able to cook meals from scratch using basic ingredients is you can also get a long-term food storage version of most of those ingredients (#10 cans of white flour, whole egg powder, butter powder, freeze-dried ground beef, freeze-dried cheese, etc.). So even if local stores are sold out of a child's favorite frozen chicken nuggets and boxes Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese dinner, you could take freeze-dried chicken, flour, powdered milk, cooking oil, dry macaroni pasta, cheese sauce powder, etc. and then pan-fry homemade breaded chicken patties and bake macaroni and cheese a casserole months after the convenience versions of these dishes have sold out.
The late Dom Deluise wrote a funny but practical cookbook called " Eat This, You'll Feel Better ". The recipes are actually pheasant , poor people food from back in the day. I grew up with these meals. Economical, tasty and nutritious.
This is exactly what I’ve been telling people !! Everyone is freaking out about Gatorade and their favourite brands. I’m not gonna panic until there is NO veg or bread. I mean half of Civilization was built on bread & butter…
Definitely a sign if things to come. I honestly do not feel bad anymore for those that have the ability/means to prepare, but make the choice not to. Maybe I’m mean, but I’m tired of people not taking responsibility for themselves or their family.
I use to try and pass on what I knew about prepping to family and friends years ago but was always brushed off as crazy. I stopped doing so and feel the same way as you. I have no sympathy for those that can and won’t.
I have dropped hints to co-workers as I don't want them to know what I have. They are total clueless or laugh at me! Guess who was laughing when there wasn't any toilet paper. Me!
Great ideas! I have been telling my adult children for years to have extra food and water and batteries on hand with no response. Even with Rising prices recently I reminded them to please buy extra food for themselves and they just say okay Mom. I know they're not. I worry about my two grandchildren more than I do the adult kids but hopefully we can share if need be
Also, start prepping Christmas gifts. I heard from my local Wal-Mart that trucks may no come in time for Christmas.
I have acquaintances in the Military and LEO's. They & their wives have been chatting with me about having "a few things" stocked for "winter storms". My light bulb finally turned on when the one said she will have to have her husband get her 3 more shelving units. Glad people are waking up before the Storm.
We still have it all here in France, but for how long, no one knows. I try to keep on preparing, prices go up here, too, but thankfully not as drastically as over the pond. We live in uncertain times, and to be prepared is so essential. Much love, AG, stay safe!
Are there limits in France? Are the unjabbed allowed to go inside grocery stores?
@@jkco4300 Yes, for now. But without vaccine, soon no job. And no, we have no limits on food yet.
Where in France are you? I lived in Frejus for 3 years as a teen. Dad was military. La France me manque beaucoup!
@@themoldysoldier I live in the center of France, maybe you've visited a bit? Loire region.
@@TheRickie41 Cool! I miss skiing in France. Went to Serre Chevalier, Isola 2000 and a couple other places.
I have lost all empathy for those who have the means and ability to get prepared, but choose not to. I'm still slowly but surely getting myself and my family in order. Today was a canning day, got several jars of corn cob jelly made. Tomorrow is shopping day, then gonna go again on Thursday and again next week. It's getting crazy and I'm breaking up some of my shopping so that people don't see how much or what I'm buying
Smart.
Nice! Breaking up my transactions never occurred to me. I'm going to start doing that too. Stealth mode!
Some people get really weird about all that these days so this is my 🤞 better plan. Plus I'm hoping to go to a local orchard next week and get a couple bushels of apples to put up. I'm never sure what to expect for winter near me (I've been here for 5 years now and I'm still at a loss) so I would much rather be safe than sorry
Very smart thing to do.
I'm a fulltime RVer. I've just ordered a quiet, small dehydrator that will work in my rig. Looking forward to putting it to use.
I grew up in Alaska and remember shortages whenever there was a dock workers strike in the lower 48. Definitely encourages you to get extra.
So true. I remember our first hurricane. No electric..it was hot and humid....ice was like gold.
Anchorage Granny here… not panicking… but preparing more significantly.
Made a nice prepper pantry casserole for lunch today, with chicken and carrots I canned 2 years ago, and egg noodles that were stored in a mason jar. Would have liked fresh broccoli, but it was actually rotten at the store. ...I can't even believe they were trying to sell it. I really need to up my game for garden veggies next summer.
Get your seeds now.
Been composting all summer and will be top dressing my Raised Garden Beds with the compost & manure in another month and getting Garlic & Onions in for the Winter.
Just 2 years ago I would never have believed walmart would not be open 24/7 and that TP would be hard to find. Now if I made a list of all the changes lately it would be huge.
It is real and it is HERE friend.
My husband and I had a wake up call the other morning. He locked himself out of his car and we didn't have spare keys. Now we do.
I did this 2 weeks ago at Foodlion no spare now I have set lol
People are walking off the job due to mandates. 99 called off at my local Wal Mart's Warehouse in Delmont, PA
Wow!
Exactly, lots of self inflicted problems.
It's true, hope everyone is ready for this. #swpg
I wouldn't call these self inflicted problems unless you mean they originate from top down through out the world. Prices are skyrocketing in Pennsylvania - Hormel meats up $2 a pkg., laundry detergent doubled. My husband originally said I was hoarding but when he realized we only had about 3 months of basics and how $$ are increasing/limited supplies, he changed his mind and now contributes ideas.
My wife works at our local Walmart and nobody has walked out
Great advice. Pretty sure the shops are going to get a lot worse before they get better. Unfortunately. 😕
TFS, & take care too everybody. ❤🙂🐶
Thank you for sharing all this information. I don't foresee thing's will get better. It's downhill from here. God Bless you.
store white rice.
brown rice (about 6 months) due to the oil content found in it, so it will go rancid quickly.
I keep telling people to stock up a food supply. No one listens. I have stopped saying things.
Nice that you encouraged others. I think it is time to keep our prepping to ourselves, hard times ahead. We don't want them to remember who is stocking up!!
After The Speech (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about), things are getting interesting. Went to a grocery store yesterday, and the whole store had 1 cashier. One. And it's not Walmart. 2 people were helping at self checkouts, one of them was also customer service and was also helping with packing. I'm not going to say about bathrooms there. Not horrible, but it's a slow decline. I've seen one person working in the store. Did not go to deli, so don't know what's the situation there. After shopping, I spent about 30 minutes in a drive thru because I wanted to see if fast food got affected. I could of left at any time, but I'm testing things now. I guess I should mention a cheap cut of beef, $8.99 lb at the same store. Just a little icing on the cake.
Yep! I'm not against ANY vaccine that can save lives. I am however against being blackmailed into taking one. If this tyrannical mandate is allowed to happen, I'll lose my job. The gov underestimated how many millions of Americans that would rather be on welfare, then to have their faith trampled on.
Maybe they know and want more folks on welfare?? Just a hunch.
@@moviemania1137
I think they are counting on the American people saying "NO". The more individuals on the Government Handout, the more the Government has to borrow from the Bank of China, the more of the Government the Bank of China owns.
🤔 I wonder what Court the Bank of China takes the USA Government to seek redress & foreclose on us.
The fast foods in my area have 2 to 3 people most times Bonus day is 4 or 5 people. They either shut the doors with drive thru only or they shut off the drive thru with walkin only. Groceries are going to mostly self check out. Even the CVS in my town is self check out. We are however functioningly stocked up. No gaping holes on the shelves yet but that is subject to change when fear sets in and they who didn't prepare, all rush the stores at the same time. Shrinkflation has been affecting my area since early spring. I've been on high alert for changes since it all started.
Just like in wartime. People had to stand in line for hours for the rationed food stuff. We've had it easy for too long!
We foolishly thought it was finally over and heading back to normal, but now we are back to stocking up on canned, dehydrated, boxed foods again. We got two kinds of generators-- a gas powered Honda and one that can charge up on solar (or on regular house A/C outlets when you do have power) and has an inverter to run various small appliances, charge phones, laptops, etc. We're going to get another of the inverter ones because we can keep them charged up and ready for short term power outages and save the gas generator for longer power outages. The inverter one can run a refrigerator for over a day. Most of the power outages so far seem to last less than a day for our area. Then when the power is back on we would charge them back up. Or use solar to charge them back up. If the power goes off permanently, then well, it would be like The Walking Dead without the zombies, and most of us just won't survive that.
My advice- buy as much as you can. Its going to get much worse. Walmart already put their workers on notice about the clotshot. Many are leaving now.
what is clotshot?
@@flutey28 The FORCED vaccine. The one that's causing blood clots.
@@moviemania1137 yep or you can call it the strokepoke

Or, you can call it the lifesaver!
Our walmarts are stocked but prices hikes are weekly now. Sam's club has limits on goods now too.
I have been working on my preps all month.
Love listening to you, I'm glad someone is trying to teach people so they don't starve. Just hope they listen.
I surely appreciate your videos. You have a calming influence on those of us far behind in the stocking up arena.
Talking of being stuck in your car in a snow storm... those little religious candles at the $ store fit right in your cup holders and can really put out some heat! ... get some instant cup of soup packets and a tin can and you make a hot cup of soup over the candle. Make sure you winterize your car ( I think earlier then normal this year) get a lidded container, appropriate for your size car and family, think... extra socks etc., individual tuna pks, foods that will take some freezing and thawing, a couple of candles, matches/lighter, plastic bags for bathroom breaks and tp and wet wipes (a coffee can with lid works well.) You get the idea💡!
Wonderful tips, thanks for sharing.
I have not been able to buy the water that I like for 3 months now! And even on other products my orders are being down sized but they do not have it in stock even if you order far ahead of time, their logistics system is not up to date!
I am going to install a cistern underground into my back yard! Actually “why install one when you can install two at twice the price”, I got that from when I was in the Army, working in supply! “Government Spending Ideology”
Need to learn how to do this...or get a solar well pump.
@@deerpark39 True! Both work well!
You mean govt spending as in 800.00 for a screwdriver? You were making a joke right? If not,I sure don't mean to offend in any way!
Thanks for your helpful tips. These are very difficult times. It's best to preoare for the worst, hope for the best.
Cooked cornbread in a cast iron skillet this evening. Nothing like it.
A guy the other day asked me if I was hoarding tp. I had 3 packs had to buy 2 for sale price and the other was on clearance. It took myself and manager to convince the guy there are shortages from lack of workers, truck drivers and products. The store is only receiving half a truck load at a time. Truck load is split between 2 stores. The other store is 40 miles away.
If someone asked me that I'd say it's none of their business how much tp I go through in a week 😁
Blessings to you and your family 🙏🙏🙏😊
The freezer for water? I have food and ice in my freezer. Fill the bathtub with water. I have 3 tubs which are rarely used. We filled one tub with water before the big snow in Texas. Thank goodness I did that. Get plenty of Peanut butter crackers spam etc. Baking soda. Buy toilet paper and napkins every time yu are in Wal mart. Don't wait til everyone is panicking.
Love your calm demeanor and very sensible advice on prepping, AG! I'm sure living in Alaska has helped you get yourself educated in these things. TFS & take care!
Great tips to make sure your family does not have to go without and have safe clean water. 🥰
Slow and steady. If you can afford it, buy what you need and one more for the pantry. An extra can of peaches and box of oatmeal makes a filling and nutritious start to the day.
Thanks AG. Bacon here in my part of KY about $8 a pound. Same with tough cuts of beef. One store I went to today had a sign on the door saying they were trying but couldn't get some products. They were low on canned meats and no roast beef in gravy at all.
Seeing small shortages here and there. Have to go to different stores to finish my shopping list. Prices are ridiculous.
You are absolutely right. We must stay calm and focus. 🤗🌈
I'm so glad I don't live in the States. Our shelves are still full and so far I've only seen shrinkflation on two products. No price increases either, unless it's Spam I'm after. It's gone up 20% but that's it when it comes to groceries.
AG---we are back home after spending the summer with my daughters family. I bought 2 Berkey Royal Filters one for my wife and I and one for my daughters family....they are wonderful...I have to go food shopping this week and keep stocking up........stay safe...God Bless you
I went to Walmart and saw many empty shelves. I was shocked to get last Bob Evans mac n cheese in cooler..I also heard faintly on overhead radio pa system suggestions for prepping for emergencies I didn't listen long bx I was shopping with kids in tow but yes I heard it and wondered
Heard the same anmouncement about 'emergencies' at my WM last week...weird. What gives?
Thank you!
Thank you Alaska Granny. Greg Chaney in coastal N.C
100% shortages and shrink flatiron, products increase 8% for this month and expected to hit up to 30%. Made a video on it if interested, great video AG. #swpg
My heavy Reynolds Wrap fo 15" × 500 cost me $66 today at a restaurant supply warehouse.
I could have saved a little on Amazon. But I got it now.
Many uses for the heavy stuff.
I wasn't there to buy it but I saw a sign in CVS last week that said "tinfoil at the register" instead of it being on the shelf!! Interesting...were people stealing it?
The grocery store will never be out of food...The most popular foods leaves the shelf, try new foods.🤗 Think outside of the box, eat healthy feel wealthy.👍
HAHA, we will see. Enjoy the Ramen everyone leaves behind.
@@joeyworkman1207 Why? Ramen are a great basis for preparing a delicious and healthy meal with the simplest of ingredients! You just have to be knowledgeable and, at best, be able to cook.
For example, I keep showing my husband which plants grow nearby (and we don't live in the wild, but in the middle of the city) are edible. He shows no interest, but when I cheat some of them under the food he usually doesn't even notice and thinks it's delicious.
@@joeyworkman1207 ??? Roman isn't the only foods left on shelves, the fresh produce is always the last to leave the market shelves/bins.
Great insight as always Alaska Granny! And you explain things so plainly. Thank you, have a blessed day :)
Hi from Germany! Shelves look "full" here but I dont know the norm. Back in Canada, our local grocery store had been short on produce.
Love your vids!
Hi back from Germany!
Which German region are you talking about? Here where I live (southern North Rhine-Westphalia) the shelves are definitely not full!
Goods are redistributed on the shelves so that it looks like more, some things are not available or exchanged for strange brands and in some supermarkets even entire rows of shelves have been removed and the remaining rows moved closer together.
Was buying shoes yesterday, even there were sometimes less goods than before or it seemed to me as if there were shoe models that were already offered 2-3 years ago (maybe larger remaining stocks from the central warehouse?).
Thanks for a very good video on current conditions. I’ve been doing store curbside pickup so haven’t seen shelves lately. But my last one they were out of stock on a few food items I depend on. So I know things aren’t normal.
Great video Granny. I just got 2 buddy heaters this week. I have a Berkey to filter water. I have a lot of things to do a lot of things ... 😎👍👍
Same. Not the Buddy heaters but alot to do.
Thanks granny!
Helpful video! I appreciate for your suggestions, and your calm and positive attitude!
I just came back from wal mart and grabbed another case of Powerade and a case of Heinz beans as the first Walmart of the two in my city had neither. Gatorade and Powerade has been in short supply for over a year now
Buy beans peanut butter, spam, cookies powdered Gatorade anything that does not need refrigerator. I learned a lot during the big snow event in Texas. No water, we had to melt snow to flush toilet. Had to use gas fireplace for warmth. No elec and no heat. No wifi. We got news by sitting in the car and playing the radio it was the only way to charge our phones. Order Big Otter wipes from Amazon. They are the size of a dime and expand to wash cloth size when moistened. For when there's no napkins or TP. They are not flushable. Batteries and candles are a must. You can buy cheap flashlights to keep in every room. I'm assuming a natural disaster is expected based on what truthers are saying.
It is great advice, that's true and I've just started to store a little with every shop but I think that if things were to get way worse we may find that it gets taken from us by desperate people. To be honest, if things went too far I don't think I'd want to survive and live in that world.
One of my friends feels that if we are talking Nuclear Winter then she wants to go out in the first blast and let it be over with quickly. I know for sure I wouldn't want to live in the world of The Road where it is down to perpetual homelessness, canabalism and the extinction of humans. OTOH a localized disaster like a hurricane (something that has happened to me twice where I lost power for 2 weeks each time) is something you will be greatful you planned for. The first time I thought I was going to freeze to death. The second wasn't perfect but with a gas generator and running hot water, it was a lot better. My parents and I even got the generator to run the tv and a bluray and we watched Moonstruck under blankets and it was a fun time. I have improved my preps and hope to improve more. I don't think things are as bad as some think they are, but so long as you don't go crazy and shoot the mailman because he was looking at you funny, then there is no problem being "too" prepared. So long as you rotate your food it isn't a waste.
@@jacquelinecallejas1390 Yes, totally agree (The Road was a great book and movie but wouldn’t want to live it😊)! Sorry to hear about your bad experience - the Moonstruck one sounds lovely though! I am going to continue to prepare for short term issues and just hope that they don’t come to the crunch as I think only the toughest and most able to defend themselves will survive and I’m definitely not one of those!
Thank you as always for your kind and smart advice.
You are absolutely right.
FYI, I have been an auto-ship subscriber with a national dog food (and other animals) company for several years. I have large dogs with sensitive stomachs. This past Mon. the company sent me an alert asking me to review my order prior to shipping (not uncommon). This time, I wanted to add a couple of items to the shipment. I tried for over an hour to do this online and the website kept crashing. So, I called cust service and waited roughly 30 min. A sweet young lady handled my order and sent a confirmation. Based on that, I was looking for the delivery yesterday. Today I received an apologetic email from the company stating they had run out of that dog food and don't know when it will be back in stock! POW. Heads-up!
Perhaps you could change the diet of your dogs and cook for them?
I've been doing this for mine for years, as both of them are chronically ill and I'm dissatisfied with the quality and prices of the finished dog food.
It's MUCH cheaper, I know what's in it and the mutt are doing great with it, their vet is thrilled.
I always pre-cook for several days (mine has fat belly meat, vegetables, and pasta, rice or potatoes), sometimes I freeze some of it, and in theory it would also be possible to boil it down. I got a large slow cooker especially for it.
When the economy goes down here, the dogs simply get what we eat (as they have for thousands of years) they are generally well used to our food, as they get something from us more often - they would even do a headstand for pancakes 😂
@@bittehiereinfugen7723 I will give that some thought. I have had a sheepdog who almost died from pancreatitis many years ago. Never forgot that. I have had " no table scraps' drilled into my head."
@@winterwunderland Understandable, pancreatitis is a really nasty thing, you have to be very careful about what you feed and have to read yourself really well what matters.
And then there are breeds that have specific health problems, so you have to be careful when feeding them from the start.
Or the races that react to too much (high-quality) protein with an increased readiness to aggression; like my male dog, if I feed him rich in protein, he is more or less "loaded & unlocked", although he is actually a cuddly bear.
@@bittehiereinfugen7723 Amen, sister, Amen. It's a tough call.
We are lucky so far here in north central Kentucky. No bare shelves and minimal inflation.
Good Morning A.G. thank you for all of your videos-Appreciate you sharing of your wisdom.. Love to you
Good video , thanks for sharing , God bless !
I've been prepping since last year after watching you and other preppers but my family has been eating off the stuff we have stored. So we definitely need more.
Get it now. Even though shelves may look ok or half full it only takes one surge of people to empty a store in a day or two. When it’s gone it’s gone. Why wait? If money is a problem get your basics first - rice, beans, flour, sugar, baking soda, salt. Then buy canned veggies, fruits, meats and milk. Go from there. Dollar stores are a good place to start if you want to start. I just don’t want to see people go hungry when it’s not necessary
Thank you ❤️
Great video, thank you!
Great advice! 👍
Thanks to you I have Nido. Our stores are ok right now. Prices have gone up.
I bought another can today, just in case.
Thanks
I always enjoy your videos.
Your doing a great job keeping us educated on
How to prep, how to rotate, and how to store food.
I'm so much better off
because of you. Thank you so Much.⁰💖💞
Good idea about water in the freezer I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks
auguson farms freeze dried
Store ice in the freezer. I am filling bags of it now
The product is in shipping containers at the harbor. Being held there on purpose. The answer is NOT Hoarding food. You're preventing people from buying food to feed their children.
Everyone needs to stock up to ensure they can feed their children.
Can you ever be fully prepared I don't think so but I'm going to try. Smoking chicken now to can for a different flavor have been freezing and canning field peas all weekend and trying to find gaps in my preps that need filling.
Any amount of prepping is way better than doing nothing. At least you'll have breathing room to allow you to think clearly when the economy collapses.
@@MensaGiraffe ... That's a great way to say it. We talk s lot about when things get bad. I think they are bad now. I am not just talking about food, our political divide, our children wondering when the next shoe will drop and they will be back to remote learning. Plus there is so much more not listed. I'm 70 and to say I feel this country is going to he.. in a hand basket is an understatement. Forgive me for rambling, I am sad. 😥
Hope for the best, & prep for the rest💪🙏💪
Thanks for telling us what to do your right.💯💯💯💯👏🍀👍💕
Another good video with great advice!!!!
We enjoy all your information thank you AG
I went to Walmart today in the next town over the hair dye section had like 10 boxes and not my color! Good thing I hVe black walnut trees to fall back on. Also for the last month I havnt been able to find walmart brand dog biscuits :(
You are chosen 💖 thank you.
Thanks again for sharing
I’m in North AL. Our Walmarts are pretty hit or miss. Drink mixes, Gatorade and juices are low. Even our Aldi is beginning to get some holes. I shop at Aldi regularly and prices have went up considerably. Sausage was 1.95 in spring, now 2.99.
Thanks for sharing what is happening where you live.
Very good informational video.
I believe a nationwide grid down is coming at some point.
You bet it will. 👍
Why would it be nation wide? Grids are regional.
Only four grids serve the entire nation.
I'm in UK, but if the grid goes down anywhere in the World, there will be an awful lot of disabled or housebound people, that won't be able to get their usual online food shopping delivered. Very worrying. 🙁
Have yu noticed all the news about the sun??
Great Video 👍🙂
Don't see empty shelf in Southern California
I really appreciate your common sense approach to prepping. My great grandmother was aware of changing of times and prepped for both world wars. In the UK there was severe rationing. My family never went without. She grew veg. Kept excellent layers for chickens. And kept fuel in the cars for ‘business purposes’. I often think of her. And you are such an encourager. God bless you!
On Saturday at 12:00 pm I pulled into the parking lot of my local Walmart and it was closed!!!! Why would Walmart close on the busiest time of the week?? I went down the road to Publix to get some items. The Publix employees said Walmart was closed because they were seriously understaffed and that they would reopen today (Sunday) at 2:00 pm.
Priscilla... Stores have been closing early all over the country. I was on another UA-cam channel where there was a big discussion about this. In my area, both Tim Hortons and Dunkin donuts closed at 3 pm due to lack of staff for the evening hours.
Unbelievable, and alarming.
Thank u for ur care. 🙏👏👍❤️💫🌟
Always great tips😊❤
We need to be serious and do what we need to do!
NE Tennessee and SW Virginia are fully stocked except for canning and ammunition supplies. What’s it like in everyone else’s area? 🇺🇸
I am near NE TN ( over border in KY). I can’t find Gatorade here or canning supplies ( have plenty)
Canning supplies are low in southern Texas
@@jonathand3613 .. same in Northern new England. Limited canning supplies, water, Gatorade and hit or miss on other things. I just walk by the beef, if I look to long they might charge me for lottering. 😊
Northeastern Maryland here - canning supplies are hit and miss. One store will be sold out, but the one down the street will have a full pallet of jars. The local Walmarts are getting them in on a regular basis, but they sell out quickly. The frozen vegetables and pizza were in short supply, but that was the only thing that stood out.
🏞🏕 Living in Alaska, is going fishing an option, like can
you fill some of your freezer space with what you can fish ??
None of your preps are any goid without the ability to defend and protect them
Pretty sure she's armed to the teeth
Shopping during a storm frenzy. Ugh. I’m not panicking. But everyone is stressed, ATM. Tropical storm. It’s not going to be too bad though. Famous last words?
You can do it!
we're regular fans, am curious if we could pass the hat & buy you a microphone, the sound quality difference would be significant..
Are aquatabs the best to get to purify water ?
Wow,in America, seeing vids about food.we are toast.
A/G" all your recommendations are awesome.
And frugal, but not every one in the world has your food budget.
Love what you do, but think working class people struggling just to get by, let alone trying to prepare.
We need some old depression type prep's .
Smilez and a hug...
what did your mom's mom do ??
Watch Wartime Kitchen and Gardens, great little series!
Nana grew a train car load of onions. She learned to cut hair. The kids picked berries, apples and cherries. She made and sold pies. GG Mantended a massive garden and took in laundry. The men of the house were killed in the war so they lived on a widows pension.
I'm certainly not going to freeze water instead of food. I do have a 3 level freezer in my refrigerator and store extra ice.
👍
