Before grian does these things he always checks with the rest of the group to make shire its fine. He doesnt go behind the other hermits backs intentionally
its more about the fact, that its not what the ''core'' community wants to watch, but another target group, and that makes people that have been watching for decades, stop watching. so he is basically forcing hermitcraft to do what he wants. so if their purpose was to kick the decade long followers in the butt then mission accomplished. veteran here.
@@BrimstoneMoth If this made those "Fans" stop watching then they weren't real fans.. This whole thing is stupid. Hermitcraft isn't dying and it isn't because of Grian. You got to remember that the server Owner Xisuma also wanted the collab. The Hermits as one decide on the stuff they want to do.
As a viewer watching since Grian joined, it has not gone “wrong” it’s gotten extremely entertaining. With the crossover, i loved it and it really gave the Hermits a chance to do “lore”
100% I've tried to watch seasons before Grian got there and I found them to be extremely boring. I started watching in season 6 onward and that was when Hermitcraft got really good.
This is almost wrong. Even without the grian, I would be totally fine with other hermits. God etho, doc, bdubs, ren, sweet keralis,... the most goes on. Heck the tcg madness is real
Honestly Hermitcraft wouldn't still be as popular as it is without him. It's not a coincidence that it's popularity really took off after he joined. The thing is despite the name Hermits, most viewers honestly don't enjoy just watching one person play without collabs with others. And Grian is the one who increased the number of them. All his events and storylines are explicitly designed to allow lots of interaction between the hermits. And if you watch the earlier seasons, you can easily see that the vast majority of them seem far more engaged than they used to, and also sound like they are having a lot more fun. Cause who wouldn't want to hang out and create fun stories with friends? As for the crossover, I really don't see how this can do anything but increase viewership. I started watching Lizzie and Joel after the crossover, I am sure plenty of Empires fans did the reverse. I also don't really see how new fans would get confused, because they always say "welcome to the Empires/Hermitcraft crossover" in the intros, and they always put it in the title too. But even if some do, the number of them who decide they don't like it cause of that will be dwarfed by the existing fans of both smps watching MORE or starting to watch other creators. And again, this was all spearheaded by Grian, but these decisions are made by unanimous consent. If the others hadn't liked it, they wouldn't have approved it. Same deal with the civil wars, the moon last season, demise, etc. And only 2 or 3 decided not to go, everyone else did, and they clearly had the option not to.
Hermitcraft didn’t take off just because of Grian ffs It was minecraft 1.13, one of the most popular versions ever. Minecraft as a whole became a lot more popular in this time.
I’d like to address some major issues A: a crossover will help hermitcraft grow as a net, not damage it in anyway B: while it is true that new viewers will be confused when just joining hermitcraft, the same would happen regardless of the crossover. I think a majority of new viewers end up watching hermitcraft from episode one, regardless of when they enter the series
I started watching this Season and didnt know many of the Hermits and i was confused the same when i started watching as when the Crossover started. But they did a good Job explaining most of the relevant stuff for me at least.
As a herhitcraft viewer since season 5 I am quite happy with the crossover, it adds a lot of fresh people and content for these creators to work with , and I feel like it was a nice ad-on to the original concept of hermitcraft. More creators and more people being added will expant the story and creativity of this server, at least from what I've seen so far.
As someone watching since S1, I get weirded out by all the storylines. I liked the crossover for the interactions between creators but I don't like the lore or scripted story stuff on HC.
@@iancrow6507 well... no? I can try to ignore the lore, but I can't watch the video without listening to it (or skipping bits), unless you suggest watching the HC videos muted, which would be stupid... And it's not just the lore, it is also the more skripted "acting" and builds and events which are not only audio, they are visual too.
@@headstanding_Penguin Over the last few months I've watched from Mumbo entering HC in season 2. And I understand what you mean about the acting which I do agree with. Mumbo doesn't do much of the acting really, and that may be one of the reasons I enjoy watching the dude. I hope he returns to HC, since for me it has gone downhill the last year where he's been missing.
But as an empires viewer I think this has been great for the Empire they’ve been building so much and helping them out so much And I’m gonna be honest I didn’t even know of hermit craft existence well I did, but I didn’t know what it was really and now I even follow some of the creators because I was watching empires before
Ive been wondering if any of the Empires member are going to use the farm after they leave. It would be a shame to waste perfectly good items. I know for sure some will like the raid tower and the copper farm because they were placed in other parts of Empires.
@@jamesfoxsmith I don't find the role play childish. Imaginative improv is fun and engaging for me to watch. But if role play isn't your thing, it's not your thing.
You literally made a video called "hermitcraft biggest mistake" and proceeded to describe the most fun and interesting thing to ever happen in hermitcraft history
3:28 I don't think you thought this through. New people, jumping into the series, won't know every member of hermitcraft, nor will they know all of their bases. Anyone who is going "Who is this person?" when entering a new series isn't going to know if they're empires or not. This whole crossover event was really good. It's a shame you're going to get a video that is so heavily interacted with, for having a weird pov.
Grian is an amazing content creator! He is the reason I am watching anybody on that server! I don't know what he does differently but even though I love everybody on that server's personality and builds, the way he makes his videos are much more entertaining! So don't dis him!
So your argument is that new viewers will be confused? That is the worst argument. A crossover event is 1 a gift to long term viewers from both SMPs. 2 a way to get cross promotion between the servers and share audiences with similar interests. 3 gives fans something to talk about and promote both servers. The fan base of both can only grow from this event, and why in the world would new viewers just watch the crossover episodes. New viewers would go back and watch the whole season. You need a serious lesson in marketing.
@ÆÜGH Crossovers have been happening since the beginning of wide spread media. A common practice since the time of time of the greeks. It is common in books, comics, tv, movies, and internet media. And touch grass is your best comeback?
Saying "this is the worst argument" is honestly a bit harsh. I made sure to clearly state that the confusion hasn't happened to many people, but there's got to be at least a few people that are confused. It's not even the main point of the argument - I was mainly arguing that the crossover had happened way too quickly after the last event. I totally get the value gained from having a crossover like this, but again, it had just happened way too fast. There was no recovery time after RentheKing's overthrowing. However, that being said, it makes sense from a practical standpoint. They probably filmed all of this within the same hour. They've mentioned in the past how difficult it is to get everyone online to film at the same time, with people from different time zones and whatnot. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact it felt rushed.
@@RealKeeganJames should've used clearer words for it then. You even supported the speedy transition of both events, and never addressed the irl events that altered the course of the event and individual creator's episodes Which is the real confusing part of the event rather than the lack of transition and confusion
@@RealKeeganJames i was originally confused as someone who was barely getting into hermitcraft at the time (after watching the life series), but honestly the crossover made me even more intrigued by the content and it encouraged me to catch up on season 9!!! :)
The Hermits decide things together as a group. Even if the idea was created and organized from Grian, the fact that it's happened means that the majority of Hermits were on board with it. The same goes for every "conflict" that he created, which really weren't conflicts, but fun stories, games, and laughs. As others said, the idea of this being a mistake is silly. So a few newcomers might be confused, and maybe they won't be. Maybe they'll see more seasons, Google Hermitcraft, or hear a hermit say something about them being in a crossover event. If anything, collaborations pull interest from separate audiences, and this is a treat for a lot of us that follow Hermitcraft, so this was a pretty good decision by the Hermits.
I was just thinking about this It may have been Grians idea but a bunch of the creators from bother Empires and Hermitcraft have done thing together so maybe some of them wanted a chance to do so again
Grian joining the sever hasn't "gone wrong" instead it has become more entertaining. The hermitcraft 6 civil war was probably one of my most favourite bits of hermitcraft. Yes it did step hermitcraft out of its comfort zone a little bit, but adding in a little bit of lore also makes it very entertaining while not becoming a movie or tv show portrayed in minecraft. This is my opinion tho. Many people do prefer 0 lore or conflicts, but i tend to enjoy them more.
I've enjoyed the crossover, but the timing was rough and has divided some hermits and fans. Fall of the king, huge charity stream, and the start of the crossover happened in just a couple days. The hermits are also now split between empires, hermitcraft, create mod, vault hunters, and some not uploading at all. It's a little disheartening and tough to follow And since others are sharing and think it matters..I've been watching hermitcraft since season 2
Finally, somebody in the comments understands my point haha But yeah, it’s been a lot in such a short amount of time. Wow, season 2?! I’ve been watching since season 4, thought that was a long time haha
@@RealKeeganJames they will understand you if you really include your point in the video or atleast explained it properly. His comment is more clear than the 4 minute video which is about the new viewers being confused
I love what they are doing. UA-cam is a harsh platform. Even for some big creators. I've been watching around season 2ish. I think it's a creative way to step away from constantly doing the same. I can be very tiresome for the creators but also the viewers. Xisuma and impulse i think talked about this in their streams to. Also it's a really good marketing Strategy. That some people are unsubing because the creator is doing something different because they want a change for a bit shows just how content creators are seen almost as content machines. No these are people behind the screens working hard to come up with ideas to make videos sometimes 2 a week. Still everybody can have their own opinion on this ofcourse but I really think it's good for them, good for both smps, and can give them a break and create new creative ideas for upcoming episodes.
Good point, didn’t really think of it like that. Just thought they would have rejuvenated creativity after the king’s reign ending, meaning it would make more sense for them to stay on Hermitcraft for at least a bit longer. EDIT: Not discounting creator burnout here - yeah, editing takes a lot of work. I’m a bit ashamed of how long this video took, haha. Not trying to compare myself to the amazing Hermitcraft content creators, but I totally get it. It’s definitely really good for them to have more content surrounding interacting with other creators, as that’s really entertaining for videos, but not as taxing on them in terms of having to plan out massive projects.
@@RealKeeganJames these things take a lot of planning. And I think the king ren thing was more of a roleplay, but I mean they discuss everything in their discord and that's how things get planed. Third life, rats SMP, hermitcraft, empires, it's all planning and Def they already knew they were going to do this and not just grian it's all of them. Most likely before even the season started. I've been working with some bigger youtubers with Minecraft content as a video editor and I hear plans way before they happen. The "normal" hermit craft will keep coming don't worry about it. Hermitcraft have changed different ways since S1 S2 and it's a good thing. They won't hold on if they keep doing the same thing for such a long run time.
@@GeekSqueek Oh yeah, the planning on these things is insane. I mainly mentioned Grian because I’m pretty sure he was the one that organized it with one of the Empires members, but everyone else had to have been involved for all of the individual creator collabs between them - you know, when they all split up at the beginning of it.
I mean... it kinda feels like they cut the king ren storyline short just so they could get to the crossover. I personally havnt cared for the crossover, it was a very abrupt halt to all the builds and storylines taking place on hermitcraft. That being said, more people have really enjoyed the crossover than not. I'm ready for the crossover to end, but I'm just going to wait patiently. I can choose to not watch any videos until they go back, its clearly not going to hurt any of their channels. I'm happy they are having fun with it and I'm happy the vast populous has embraced it. Now if only Joe would have stayed so we could have gotten turkaxolotl...
I would’ve never started watching if it wasn’t for grian. I’m a long time subscriber but I finally decided to watch hermitcraft this season and now I’ve seen many seasons
I personally love the crossover, but I do agree that the end of the King storyline and the start of the crossover was too close and rushed. Still, it doesn't keep me from enjoying it. I think what likely happened is that the crossover was scheduled in advance. We know from Fwip that he and Grian had been planning the crossover for months before it happened. I think the King storyline was started by Bdubs and it was obviously separate from what Grian was planning with the rift. That storyline probably happened to go on longer than the hermits anticipated (maybe due to all the breaks from earlier this year), or they simply decided that they didn't want to continue it through the crossover, so they had to bring it to a quick close. Yes, it wasn't great pacing, but we have to remember that Hermitcraft isn't a scripted series. The hermits "script" some storylines as far as they think necessary, but it's not like they gather together before each season and plan out the storylines. It's mostly improvised fun, and improv often comes with these kinds of hiccups. That's why I dont stress a ton about this. It's not above criticism, of course. Just don't hold it to the same standard as a scripted TV series.
100%. I bet it was super convenient for them to film both events back to back, just because they were all there at the same time. They’ve said in the past it’s been difficult to get everyone online at once due to time zones. I know myself and a bunch of other big Hermitcraft fans were looking forward for things to return to normal, just for at least a bit of time.
improvised story arcs tend to have some of the best things happening tho. they tend to have more raw and genuine reactions, which also makes them less predictabe and curiosity is a bigv drive for many people to watch more.
Videos like this are just kind oftoxic - i thought the crossovers were great - you also talked about how it would be difficult for new people to jump in, but surely there are far more viewers who watch empires, hadn’t seen hermitcraft videos before, and are now checking out the new channels, and vice versa - suddenly hermits will make their way into peoples algorithms, and empire channels will pop up for people who watch hermitcraft - taking the break over January slowed things down more than the crossover, once you click one minecrafters video, youtube will often push their old and popular videos to you
Once the rift happened with the crossover thing I literally stopped watching this season and I think the view count shows it that the crossover did more harm than good
Just clickbait. Honestly, how dare you insult Hermitcraft this way! It’s just a funny thing to widen their audience. And honestly it got me watching Empires as well
I've tried to watch seasons before Grian joined (mainly season 5 Mumbo Jumbo) and I stopped after only a few episodes because I found them to be extremely boring. I started watching in season 6 onward and that was when Hermitcraft got really good. I think the crossover was absolutely wonderful. It was fresh and exciting and brought what I would consider, new life to Hermitcraft and I could tell that the Hermits were glad that they could do something different after 10 years of only being on the Hermitcraft server and I think the way they did it with the rift was incredibly creative and personally I want to know how they linked the two servers through a portal.
I agree with everyone who thinks hermitcraft is doing great. I disagree with everyone who postes videos like this because they dont like a particular person's personality and have to try and prove themselves better. It is quite honestly sad.
Don't really get why Grian is getting blamed for this. The members make decisions about plots altogether. There's an implication here that Grian has just been dominating storylines since season 6, and it's kind of an odd thing to argue
Some hermits are starting their intro with: welcome back to the big crossover we are on the empire server. That works. But then there are hermits who just say welcome back to Hermitcraft and dont explain why they are in a completly different environment.
When Ive started watching Hermitcraft, its was in early season 8. I went back on all seasons without a reason aside of "lets watch old content first". Im sure that new "confused" viewers will do the same.
so technically what you're trying to say is that HermiteCraft is going downhill and it's all Grians fault? but actually, most fans don't find the crossover bad at all. And Grian probably brought in all the conflict to make more views for hermitecraft. Grian is not to blame for the things that happen. sometimes people just need to accept change.
To be honest I don't like how hermitcraft has been going down the lore rabbit hole since season 8, I just prefer random goofing around instead of purposeful storylines.
The event had seemingly been planned for a while. So much so that they had to rush the end of the RenTheKing arc. But I think that was because one was planned, the other more improvised. So they rushed the improv. It’s funny that this video is recommended to me now that the hermits are back on Hermitcraft. And now that some of the Emperors have come through with them.
i’m a completely new hermitcraft and empires viewer, as in started during the crossover season, and im not really that confused. my biggest problem is understanding the inside jokes which isn’t related to the crossover at all.
so what you are saying has gone „wrong“ is, that some hermits didn’t go through the portal? They must have had their reasons and if that’s just scheduling-wise…
As a Hermitcraft and Empires watcher, I’ve been LOVING this crossover! I love how False, Gem, and Pearl have been doing it with Gem being a celestial being, there being 2 False’s, and Pearl mentioning a lot of stuff from last season with her Empires skin and stuff. I love it so so much!
so you made me wait 4 minutes to say that joining in the middle of a story means the writers made a huge mistake? dude. it IS a mini-series, and its some of the most views most of the members' channels have ever gotten on a minecraft playthrough video. Hermitcraft is doing fine, Empires is doing fine, everything is fine, this video sucks.
Couldn’t be farther from the truth. He’s one of my favorite creators on UA-cam. Big inspiration for some of my videos - just look at my video where I recreated his Hermitcraft 8 train in survival mode. Mentioning him was setting up the narrative of the story, and it made sense because he was one of the main organizers of the event.
I’ve been watching Grian for a long time now and hermitcraft since season 4 and hermit craft felt more entertained at after Grian joined because collabs happened between players more
You're not wrong here. The loose association with "lore" is one of the things that sets HC apart. They have just enough to give a sense of continuity. Grian's games are actually one of his best contributions, as they guarantee interactions between Hermits, and some of the best moments on the server come from those interactions. But, the crossover with Empires was not timed well. Too much lore stretching over too many consecutive episodes doesn't feel right for HC. 🤔
How is there too much lore? Or is just because it happened all so fast at once. Also I'm confused cause all those agreeing with the video poster are saying that the crossover shouldn't happened but it seems like your saying it should be spread out more.
I am a fam of Pixlriffs and yes thats how you spell it. I known hermitcraft because of him. This crossover is awesome and I get your point, but then again there are so many good creators outside hermitcraft which for me is a win-win situations for these amazing minecraft players and hermitcraft to have them featured without just including them on the hermitcraft team and vise versa
I read a lot of comments, and I saw that a lot of people are disagreeing with you. And I also think that Grian has made Hermitcraft so much better. The conflicts were never about PVP and everyone was following the rules. It was like a fun minigame and it made the videos a lot more entertaining. I actually believe that it was a big mistake for YOU to even post this video since I am strongly offended that there are people out there who are this much against Grian, the amazing UA-camr, joining Hermitcraft. If anything, Grian just made Hermitcraft a lot less than a bunch of friends grinding to build things into a whole storyline with story, friendly conflicts, and lore. It added the tension that Hermitcraft lacked before. Grian added tag, spleef, teg, electric boogaloo, flag wars, and so much more that gave the whole community something to unexpect. I am absolutely against this video's theory, and am offended by its beliefs.
Been enjoying it because I've been watching both SMPs. Although I did get a bit lost sometimes, but at least there's recap for me to fall into. It would have been great, however, if a couple of Empires members get into Hermitcraft, that would be interesting at least for me.
As an og fan of hermitcraft since its conception and 1st ever episodes. Hermitcraft has gone through lots of changes such as members leaving and new ones being added. Which then leads to different views and ideas being shared amongst the active members at the time. U shouldn't blame grian for it all Because the server members have weekly meetings to talk about what's going on in the the server. So it's not right just to blame grian.
Your title and your read before you comment post kind of contradict themselves. Your saying the cross over was wrong but then saying your not against it to try to save yourself from the backlash of both sides. You can't have it both ways. Your either againest it (which is an opinion and therefore can not make something wrong like your title states) or your for it and just trying to ruffle feathers with a click bait title.
I understand your point with the cross over but the wars that they have had weren’t just Grian blowing stuff up, it’s all of them together. If the other hermits weren’t ok with it then your point is valid but they all want to do these things, not just Grian.
That’s what I thought at first, but it involved getting so much more footage that I wasn’t prepared to get, especially in the beginning - that’s not even counting the script rewrites! Just getting the intro zoom-in probably took an hour and a half, because I had to set up a private server, figure out how to use an NPC plugin, and then fiddle around with ReplayMod. For about three seconds of footage. You could chalk that up to bad time management, but even things like reference photos of the Hermit’s bases took a while to find, import, and cut down in Premiere Pro.
I still find it funny that generikb made hermit craft and they kept the name, even though it obviously goes with him. He will forever be a part of hermitcraft
Are you joking? Like are you seriously joking? Because if actually did your research then you would understand that the crossover and EVERYTHING ELSE that happens on the server is agreed opon with EVERY SINGLE HERMIT ON THE SERVER.
I've watched hermitcraft when Mumbo joined and when Grian joined, I actually found hermitcraft more entertaining, it was entertaining before but the storyline actually gave an extra boost for me personally and helped me find other amazing Hermit's like Iskall, ZombieCleo, TFC (rest his soul), JoeHills and the man himself Scar. If I wasn't studying for my finals I would have probably watched all their episodes.
I do get the idea of confusion with the hermitcraft viewers, but not only is that issue well balanced by the positives, but tbh... new viewers starting a series in the middle feels like the viewers choiced problem than the CC. Like, this isn't the first aliennating choice Hermitcraft has done; Season 8 was very much a different shift from the usual focus, and they used what they learned there to this season. Lastly, it seems the hermits have finally turned the direction to leaving, so I think we're reaching the end.
This video literally does not make sense. You are telling me that Hermitcraft made a mistake letting Grian join because Grian is bringing excitement to the server? Hermitcraft before Grian joined was pretty boring. Yeah, there were a lot of cool builds that would sprout up all over but that was it. Just build a small home, build a mega base, end of season. With the addition of Grian, we got lore added to the server. Wars started happening which not only gave the Hermits a break from doing nothing but slaving away at their build, but it also gave them fresh content that will draw in more views. Now with the whole Hermitcraft x Empires, this was bound to happen basically as soon as Grian joined. Grian is friends with practically everyone on Empires and a lot of people on Empires most likely want to be on Hermitcraft (there is the exception of GeminiTay who is on both, but that's neither here nor there). I am more surprised that it took them 4 seasons to make it happen but it kinda does make sense. A lot of Hermits not named GeminiTay or Grian got to meet people from Empires through Minecraft Championship and through the Life Series. Season 8 of Hermitcraft would have made sense to do the crossover but of course that season had a premature ending due to the moon crashing into the world, so we got it this season. Now with the arcs being so close together, it kinda had to happen that way. Empires SMP season 1 lasted seven months and seventeen days. Empires season 2 started 25 June of this year. Meaning that they are already nearing the end of the second season of Empires. It kinda had to happen right away if they wanted to get it done because otherwise it could potentially not happen again. By the time the next season of Empires starts, Hermitcraft season 9 will be ending, or they will be in between seasons, which means they would have to wait for Hermitcraft to catch up to them, or do the crossover arc basically right out of the gates for Hermitcraft. Also, with the crossover confusing someone who is joining late, what? That is the weirdest reason I have ever heard for why something would be bad. If you are joining Hermitcraft RIGHT NOW and start by watching the latest video, something you'll immediately notice is that it takes almost all the Hermits and Empires members about 7-10 days to pump out a video. That means if you watch Grian's or Joel's or Scar's latest Hermitcraft video, you will have about a week to watch there other 29 videos. Most of their videos are about 30 minutes long. To catch up if you started watching Hermitcraft right now, you'd have to watch about 4 episodes per Hermit/Empire to catch up before the next video. Now of course you could be smart about it and intentionally lag behind, or not watch every single Hermit/Empire. Personally I have been watching Grian, Scar, Gem, Joel, and Timmy and I have kept up just fine. The argument that someone might be confused if they joined right now is an awful argument and I am suprised that you kept that in the video at all. TL,DR: Adding Grian was the best thing Hermitcraft has done, the crossover had to happen as soon as the King Ren arc ended, and the crossover being bad because ONE person might get confused is small brain thinking.
Nice to hear your thoughts on the event, I agree it's definitely confusing, with 13 empires and I believe 13 hermits it's quite the task to keep up with things. Though I believe this is minor compared to the benefits of the cross pollination of audiences, to have hermit and empires followers be introduced to new creators helps everyone out. I for one didn't really watch any of the empires folks and now watch most of them
But Ren joined as the 14th Hermit...stuff for sooo many ideas. The squished "burned down" the Empires economy already, Cub left some thousands of skulk-catalysts around the server. I want to see Kerilson in Sausages dimension hopping. All that LORE...So many Lore and so little time.
This is literally the first comment I saw after almost 10 whole minutes of scrolling, that actually agreed to this video. I have nothing against the commenter, but the poster of this video liked it. That is the part that makes me extremely furious 😡😡😡. I don't think it's fair for you to only like the comments that only support you.I think it is extremely unfair of you.
I haven’t watched any hermits since the crossover - I like do some roleplay but I am more into gameplay of actual playing the game. Etho is a great example
This video is such a waste of time. His only thing to back up the title is an inconvenience to maybe one person. This cross over was amazing and brought more viewers to both series
I mostly though that the crossover event was a little too in favour of people like Grian, Scar and just about everyone on Empires. Ever since Grian's arrival, roleplay is something that's slowly.. increased in these Seasons, which improves content in ways for some, but for other, lesser known/watched hermits, I feel like it kinda leaves them in the dirt. On hermitcraft, they could thrive in their own respective fields, work on their megabases and do their THING. On empires? they suddenly have to mix in with a new crowd, start all over and join in with whatever Grian's currently doing cause he basically runs Hermitcraft now. I also had originally theorised the Rift was a link to previous hermitcraft servers, and that grian's base would slowly be popularised with reimagined callbacks (such as the new grumbot) and I expressed this excitement in the comment section of one of his earliest HCS9 videos, but now.. I'm just disappointe, not only that that wasn't the case but.. what it ACTUALLY was just left me feeling empty. There's no LASTING impression from the crossover, hermitcraft is the same now as it was when they went through the rift, it's just.. taken us longer to get here, and the rift is gone now ig.
This video is lacking a lot of knowledge on how marketing works and seems more like a desperate attempt to get views off the hermitcraft name because having a thumbnail and title that suggests grian is a problem with hermitcraft gets clicks. But grian brought hermitcraft back to life, this is the 9th season, it gets to a point where things have to be changed up otherwise people get board. Season 7 was a show of that, it was a great season but it was so much like season 6 they pretty much blended into each other. Again, an amazing season still but it was missing something. Season 8 and the moon was a joint decision that they let grian be in charge of leading. But they let grian lead all of this for a reason, grian is an expert story teller without going too far into the roleplay kinda situation..but on top of that, it's not just grian, the big base swap at the end of season 7 was mumbo, the king stuff was ren, mayoral races was scar, so many different hermits contribute to the story line, grians are just more collaboration based and very ambitious and most views love that, things change over time. Doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. The crossover was temporary and they've gone back now, and now empires are in hermitcraft which will add an interesting dynamic. So many things. Stop trying to just gain views off the hermit name
I been watching Hermit Craft since season 6, and I think the crossover is great for both the hermits and the empires guys in many ways, unfortunately I kinda lost interest, I watched some of the hermits perspectives and I must say, there are some very funny moments, but for most of them I just felt kind of bored and not as hooked as I was while watching the regular hermitcraft episode, I'm not saying the content is bad, but for me it was a bit of a letdown. Honestly I would have rathered to see the hermits continue their amazing projects on the hermitcraft server such as Tango with decked out, Scar with his theme park, Impulse with his mega shop, etc. I do understand they did it to not get creatively blocked and/or content burnt, it's gonna be a long season so I don't blame them for wanting to do something different. For me the Collab was honestly a break from hermitcraft content. But it's just my opinion, don't hate me please hahaha.
This is the second comment I found that agreed with this video, after 20 MINUTES OF SCROLLING! And the poster of the video liked it again! It makes me so frustrated!

Bro just threw grian under the bus then talked about tag for 3 min
That’s really true.
I got introduced to hermitcraft thru Grian so I fully agree with this statement
Literally this comment, bro this vid is so attention seeking
The fact that this video can generate so many views off of Hermitcraft’s popularity is proof that Hermitcraft is doing just fine.
And the award for the best comment goes toooooo…
So true
Sadly, viewership for Hermitcraft in general has gone down like 15% from the king arc and the crossover.
@@defeatSpace any research do prove your statement? Those 15% are out of the blue.
28 k vies ain’t good lad hermitcraft and mincrafts dead
you didn't provide a single good reason why this was hermitcraft's biggest mistake
Grain is why hermitcraft is so good .He makes the series fresh and his builds are so unique
100% I've tried to watch seasons before Grian got there and I found them to be extremely boring. I started watching in season 6 onward and that was when Hermitcraft got really good.
Mumbo is very important to Hermitcraft as well, I hope he will return though have a fearful doubt that he won't.
Who is this “Grain” character?
This is almost wrong. Even without the grian, I would be totally fine with other hermits. God etho, doc, bdubs, ren, sweet keralis,... the most goes on. Heck the tcg madness is real
@@glidersuzuki5572 CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER??
They are still having the same amount of fun and engaging, it probably just seems like it as people and their content change throughout the years
It's just too scripted and childish with him. I started watching hermitcraft, because of grian, but I like every single hermit more than his vids tbh
@@mochiboy7750 then don’t watch him. simple. no need to be rude about it (sorry if you were being nice i can’t tell)
Hermitcraft didn’t take off just because of Grian ffs
It was minecraft 1.13, one of the most popular versions ever. Minecraft as a whole became a lot more popular in this time.
I’d like to address some major issues
A: a crossover will help hermitcraft grow as a net, not damage it in anyway
B: while it is true that new viewers will be confused when just joining hermitcraft, the same would happen regardless of the crossover. I think a majority of new viewers end up watching hermitcraft from episode one, regardless of when they enter the series
I started watching this Season and didnt know many of the Hermits and i was confused the same when i started watching as when the Crossover started. But they did a good Job explaining most of the relevant stuff for me at least.
was that it? that was the whole criticism? click bait video
Welcome to UA-cam
@@SunDry_Marchy lmao
As a herhitcraft viewer since season 5 I am quite happy with the crossover, it adds a lot of fresh people and content for these creators to work with , and I feel like it was a nice ad-on to the original concept of hermitcraft. More creators and more people being added will expant the story and creativity of this server, at least from what I've seen so far.
Hey, it’s the guy from my Minecraft Talent Show video!
As someone watching since S1, I get weirded out by all the storylines.
I liked the crossover for the interactions between creators but I don't like the lore or scripted story stuff on HC.
@@headstanding_Penguin you don't have to listen to the lore, you can just watch the video.
I hope he returns to HC, since for me it has gone downhill the last year where he's been missing.
bro just milked the entire hermitcraft fanbase
But as an empires viewer I think this has been great for the Empire they’ve been building so much and helping them out so much And I’m gonna be honest I didn’t even know of hermit craft existence well I did, but I didn’t know what it was really and now I even follow some of the creators because I was watching empires before
Nice! I recommend watching some old seasons. Especially Grian’s perspective starting with season 6. Lots of fun
Ive been wondering if any of the Empires member are going to use the farm after they leave. It would be a shame to waste perfectly good items. I know for sure some will like the raid tower and the copper farm because they were placed in other parts of Empires.
@@jamesfoxsmith get ratioed

@@jamesfoxsmith I don't find the role play childish. Imaginative improv is fun and engaging for me to watch. But if role play isn't your thing, it's not your thing.
I hope everyone realised the crossover had been planned by all of them for months and the rift was just their way of doing it
Bruh grian is so awesome. He always checks with everyone before doing those things.
You literally made a video called "hermitcraft biggest mistake" and proceeded to describe the most fun and interesting thing to ever happen in hermitcraft history
And talked about how it the planning of it interrupted other fun and interesting things too, yeah
3:28 I don't think you thought this through. New people, jumping into the series, won't know every member of hermitcraft, nor will they know all of their bases. Anyone who is going "Who is this person?" when entering a new series isn't going to know if they're empires or not. This whole crossover event was really good. It's a shame you're going to get a video that is so heavily interacted with, for having a weird pov.
crossover was bad so shut up
They kinda needed him, it was getting boring for the other players.
You need a serious lesson in going outside and touching grass
You even supported the speedy transition of both events, and never addressed the irl events that altered the course of the event and individual creator's episodes
Which is the real confusing part of the event rather than the lack of transition and confusion
@@RealKeeganJames i was originally confused as someone who was barely getting into hermitcraft at the time (after watching the life series), but honestly the crossover made me even more intrigued by the content and it encouraged me to catch up on season 9!!! :)
How is he to blame for an awesome crossover
bro grian literally made the crossover. he organized it. not just in lore but he talked to the empires smp members months in advance
One thing I will not be surprised about is if mumbo became the richest hermit after the cross over. Mumbo for Mayor 🙂.
I would agree but after all the crossover lasted less than a month. Literally ended 10 days after posting
Valid points throughout though
It's a little disheartening and tough to follow
And since others are sharing and think it matters..I've been watching hermitcraft since season 2
Finally, somebody in the comments understands my point haha
But yeah, it’s been a lot in such a short amount of time.
@@RealKeeganJames oh one more thing, you should be proud of your Editing! You did great. I wish I would put as much effort in my own videos 🤣
@@GeekSqueek Thanks haha
I mean... it kinda feels like they cut the king ren storyline short just so they could get to the crossover.
Videos like this are just kind oftoxic - i thought the crossovers were great - you also talked about how it would be difficult for new people to jump in, but surely there are far more viewers who watch empires, hadn’t seen hermitcraft videos before, and are now checking out the new channels, and vice versa - suddenly hermits will make their way into peoples algorithms, and empire channels will pop up for people who watch hermitcraft - taking the break over January slowed things down more than the crossover, once you click one minecrafters video, youtube will often push their old and popular videos to you
Once the rift happened with the crossover thing I literally stopped watching this season and I think the view count shows it that the crossover did more harm than good
okay but if you remove grian, people will be pissed, server members will be pissed, and it will make hermitcraft less popular.
Grian is the main character now. But it's a good change, not a bad one.
…did you even watch the video?
oh no! content creators collaborating in order to generate hype!
Grian just want some mayhem, leave him alone
The thumbnail for this video I cant-
When Ive started watching Hermitcraft, its was in early season 8. I went back on all seasons without a reason aside of "lets watch old content first". Im sure that new "confused" viewers will do the same.
so technically what you're trying to say is that
HermiteCraft is going downhill and it's all Grians fault? but actually, most fans don't find the crossover bad at all. And Grian probably brought in all the conflict to make more views for hermitecraft. Grian is not to blame for the things that happen. sometimes people just need to accept change.
Considering I learned about Hermitcraft because of Grian.
I disagree.
Bro wrote a goddamn college essay for how a Minecraft server has gone wrong💀💀
As a Hermitcraft and Empires watcher, I’ve been LOVING this crossover! I love how False, Gem, and Pearl have been doing it with Gem being a celestial being, there being 2 False’s, and Pearl mentioning a lot of stuff from last season with her Empires skin and stuff. I love it so so much!

My opinion on this video comes in 2 words. “I Disagree”
so you made me wait 4 minutes to say that joining in the middle of a story means the writers made a huge mistake? dude. it IS a mini-series, and its some of the most views most of the members' channels have ever gotten on a minecraft playthrough video. Hermitcraft is in shambles because maybe one viewer got confused?
Okay
I just think you have a grudge against Grian
Couldn’t be farther from the truth. He’s one of my favorite creators on UA-cam. Big inspiration for some of my videos - just look at my video where I recreated his Hermitcraft 8 train in survival mode. Mentioning him was setting up the narrative of the story, and it made sense because he was one of the main organizers of the event.
I’ve been watching Grian for a long time now and hermitcraft since season 4 and hermit craft felt more entertained at after Grian joined because collabs happened between players more
11days later...
Anyone else stopped watching hermitcraft when Mumbo left
Personally, I like the crossover. I watched HermitCraft from season 5 to 8. Just rejoined. It is very confusing however!
Been enjoying it because I've been watching both SMPs. Although I did get a bit lost sometimes, but at least there's recap for me to fall into. It would have been great, however, if a couple of Empires members get into Hermitcraft, that would be interesting at least for me.
Ironic that it's happened now
As an og fan of hermitcraft since its conception and 1st ever episodes. Hermitcraft has gone through lots of changes such as members leaving and new ones being added. Which then leads to different views and ideas being shared amongst the active members at the time. U shouldn't blame grian for it all Because the server members have weekly meetings to talk about what's going on in the the server. So it's not right just to blame grian.
this is a joke right
Can i have some chips with this salt?
"It'll be going on for quite a while."
Nope. It's already over. Well, at least the "Hermits on Empires" part is.
Your problem is just, you literally were utterly wrong, 3 episodes short and everything's back and new people joined the server from empires.
Don’t really get what the big mistake was. My mistake was falling for the click bait 😂
Your title and your read before you comment post kind of contradict themselves. Your saying the cross over was wrong but then saying your not against it to try to save yourself from the backlash of both sides. You can't have it both ways. Your either againest it (which is an opinion and therefore can not make something wrong like your title states) or your for it and just trying to ruffle feathers with a click bait title.
i liked the alternate universe 🙁
Just flat out calling Grian a mistake seems pretty rude. o_o
I understand your point with the cross over but the wars that they have had weren’t just Grian blowing stuff up, it’s all of them together. If the other hermits weren’t ok with it then your point is valid but they all want to do these things, not just Grian.
This new season of hermitcraft is the best one to date honestly
how did this vid take long time to make, its a 4 min video with you talking over gameplay XD
I'm glad to see so many comments congratulating the cross over, it seemed fun!
Yeah! I absolutely love and agree with you!
I still find it funny that generikb made hermit craft and they kept the name, even though it obviously goes with him. He will forever be a part of hermitcraft
They lit already started closing the portal and came back
Are you joking? Like are you seriously joking? Because if actually did your research then you would understand that the crossover and EVERYTHING ELSE that happens on the server is agreed opon with EVERY SINGLE HERMIT ON THE SERVER.
man i just miss evo smp
For me I think your right, I stop watching hermitcraft when the crossover starts, but I think I'll watch it again since they're back.
He is to blame? More like he is to thank.
This video is such a waste of time. His only thing to back up the title is an inconvenience to maybe one person. This cross over was amazing and brought more viewers to both series
Hermicraft's and every other server's biggest mistake is to include that abomination called geminitay
Seems like a personal problem
The empires asked for help to start up and the hermits is getting views for payments.
This dude chasing clout
This was three months ago lol
You will be happy to know that they will be returning to the actual HermitCraft Season 9 server soon
This is the second comment I found that agreed with this video, after 20 MINUTES OF SCROLLING! And the poster of the video liked it again! It makes me so frustrated!
I love the thumbnail just pointing out that grian is a mistake
