The are problems with Gibraltar, but the UK and Spain are allies. Spain also relies on UK tourists who spend a lot of money there. And lots of UK people go to live in Spain. So although Gibraltar is a glitch, I don’t think UK and Spain hate each other at all.

I would say with India and Ireland it’s more appropriate to say ‘mixed feelings’ than like or hate. Both countries have a history of being colonised and exploited by the U.K. but in modern times they are economic partners and strategic allies.

Ireland still has issues on some level with the UK because of the history, but geopolitically and economically the UK and the republic of Ireland are very well aligned. Most British people who go to Ireland get banter and mocked a bit but it rarely gets serious and aggressive.
As a American we love the United Kingdom, they are like a brother to us.

I can barely say vietnam is half love and half hate. They left on 15th May 1946 and the UK was not involved in Vietnam after that date.
