I'm a newbie in windfoiling (3 hours ) after a lot of widsurfing (40 years ) and your video confirm a lot of my feelings after my first foil session. It also give a lot of answers and advises that I will try to follow. So, thank you very much .
I am 52 , windsurfed in the 80's and 90's, did catamaran sailing until 3 years ago. Skipped kiting completely. This is great to re-enter. Specially after this guy is telling you that its for everyone. I believe him, I feel it ....
I started windsurfing in 1985. I've sailed Hatteras and the Gorge. Foiling makes my local lake a magic carpet. Do it! Slingshot Dialer 130, Hover Glide Fwind1.
Very good. Great tips, excellent ending. You are at ease for sure. Super in depth content regarding the board also which really could not be demonstrated more clearly. This was a huge help for me. (As I'm beginning to foil). Thanks for sharing.
Well done, I couldn't agree more. Foiling is one of the easiest transitions for windsurfing if you follow a few of the precautions which you mentioned. I think anybody who can shortboard, can foil during their first lesson. Initially I was more concerned about multiple adjustments you would have to make. Definitely not so, I think the industry has made it appear way too complicated which it is not. I recommend just doing it, it's easier than most people think and definitely the "next level", pardon the pun! Thanks Balz
Thank you Balz,Get a Foilboard to my 70th Birthday , and now i am learnig it. So much fun with very low Wind on the Urnersee. hank Danggä für dini Tipps!
Great video and tips... use my a manta aluminum foil in an old formula board. Straps are as far inboard as I can get them, so I have been trying to strapless foil...been tough. Need to glass some new strap inserts in I guess.
Thanks for the great motivation talk and the tips! I'm now starting with foiling with a usual powerbox and might replace it after ripping it out eventually ^^ (board is old anyhow)
Recently foils started to appear with the front wing much more forward (longer front part of the mast) - so that has the same effect as moving the mastfoot back with a normal foil.
Awesome Vid, and sick low Wind pumping.. after having tryed that myself it looks like you killing physics.. insane. gonna check wing position in relation to footstraps and play around mast position..
So it's the opposite of wind surf boards. You pump with the rear foot in the strap and you take it out when you fly to compensate the backwards mast foot and balance the foil. Looks all easy with Balz,
Hello Blaz, I windfoiled a couple of hours getting up for 20 mt or so and tacking which I found easy on the foil. I am curious about the fact that you use quite a narrow board, and I was experiencing quite a lot of torque generated by foil mast as it was a big 70 cm formula fin, and my ankles had a tough time to keep the board flat. I immagine you go downwind before the board get out of the water to reduce this torque, then once out the torque is less since less of the mast is in the water...can you give me an insight on this? thank you, you are a fantastic athlete..everything seems so easy looking at you ...but is not!
Great video! I am currently in my "first flights phase". Three proper sessions in and learning more and more each time. Question: what can you say about harness lines? Is it better to have them shorter for foiling compared to e.g. regular flat water blasting? Thanks! Nash
Thanks Balz! Super useful You recommend not bailing out, that it’s dangerous. I did that a few times and it’s definitely scary to see the blades coming out of the water as you are falling behind your gear. What do you recommend when you are out of control and want to bail? Just sheeting out and staying with your rig even if that means getting thrown forward?
Hi,Balz, can you give any manual, how to foil 360 upwind complete in the air? I struggle with it it and many others. First part -carving upwind is natural, but then....unwanted landing .THx JUlius
Great video! But can anyone recommend me a setup board+foil for similar free ride freestyle riding, me being 84kg. And better if the board were 110+ liters to uphaul easily in case the wind dies.
thank you Balz for all those tips ! but tell me , how much do you weigh ? 93 liters seems to be a very small volume . Yet your planing is very early . do you think under 100 l is enough for a freeride use ?
I weigh 90 kg for 1.92 m, it's impossible for me to put the 2 feet in the footstraps on a board of 90/100 l with as little wind without being already on planning, otherwise I sink....
I think you'd need a bigger board to foil comfortably. If you can't uphaul you're drastically cutting the range of your foiling, as you'll be overpowered on the foil if you can waterstart comfortably, definitely on the non-racing foils. Typically you need a smaller sail, and enough volume to uphaul (110+ for you maybe?).
Many useful tips. However, Balz, your sequence of instruction was missing something. You went from first plane right to the gybe and you provided no tips for how to sail along once that first plane has been achieved. No cruising tips. Apart from saying it's wobbly! If you were to add a cruising module the presentation would be perfect!
how the hell can anyone dislike this video... its a complete guide from beginner to intermediate with all the safety guides in place.
Maybe they don’t agree lol

I’ve windsurfed for many years and after watching you it’s on my bucket list to try before I’m too old!

I'm almost 76 YO and having a blast. I've gone from a Naish 142, to a Slingshot Levitator ,160 and NOW a JP Pro 190. All on Ezzy Cheetahs.
Very good. Great tips, excellent ending. You are at ease for sure.

Excelent ! Tks Blaz ! Tks Kuma !
Legend. Great video. Will be using all of your advice when I start foiling....now to buy that new board. :}
Very good ! Thanks for sharing , most informative...

Nice Englis man I understood all of words and pronunciation. Like this
Thank you so much for your complete instruction and I hope to enjoy windsurfing at Bonaire someday.
Awesome video. Answers many questions I had. Nice to see Lac Bay again! Thanks very much
Excellent video. Loved the part about your dad. I would love to see a video by/with your dad, as I started in 1985.
Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Perhaps the wetsuit and boots provides a little of protection to legs in waterstart kicks?
If you are waterstarting with a short mast, you can use the foil as a step for the second foot to come up out of the water.
Awesome Vid, and sick low Wind pumping.. after having tryed that myself it looks like you killing physics.. insane. gonna check wing position in relation to footstraps and play around mast position..
Danke Balz, das wird mal versucht.😎🤙
Awesome vid, thanks, looking forward to foil with you on Morat or Bienne’s lake!
Your freestyle was stunning! I wowed
Top How to video🤙🤙
I Love Balz Muller
Very good demonstration !

Pure Freaking Magic, even though I understand the physics. We live in an age of wonders.
you are the best very good information thank you very much danke danke danke !!!!
Excellent tutorial on foiling. Thanks for covering so many points thoroughly..you should, however, change your name to "balls" :)
Just perfect! Thanks.

Vielen Dank für die Tipp`s! Beim nächsten Wind geht es raus!
TRÈS TRÈS BIEN BRAVO 🤙👍
si potrebbe avere la versione in italiano di questo bel video.grazie saluti di cuore.
Very Good 👍 Tutorial.
Thanks.
Thanks for the awesome pointers 👈
Great job
Nice guy!!
How big is the sail you were using?
Wow! I have this sudden urge to sell the business and move to a beach
10/10

I leave them as is, then drop out when foiling. I don't feel the pull of the sail when I'm up on the foil.
Thanks for learning
Thanks Balz! Super useful

Are you sure that measuring from the fin box is correct with all foil? Front wing placement is surely important.
Mit 66 .. das waer oepis noeis.
Bonair isch schoen .
What type of boom and sail is that?
Fantastic
ill watch this with sound soon
