In a 12 step program I am completely obligated to take my responsibility for ‘my side of the street’. It’s ‘challenging’ if you have destroyed your life.

Absolutely incredible videos in general, so making this comment feels a bit like visiting a marvelous mansion, only to remark on anatomy of the owner's dog and pondering how great the fluffy creature would look on a painting. But the quote at 8:20 is incredible: it packs remarkable wisdom and linguistic aesthetic. Thank you for sharing it!
"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." I mean, cmon. Other quotes can complain all they want, but this one is going on a prime spot on the mental shelf.

I'm a teacher. This video was extremely useful when I had to deal with parents that were stuck in complaining protector mode. It all makes sense now. Thanks! I think I actually got through to them this time. Go figure.

OMG this is one of my strongest modes :( I had never heard of this one! Is this something you conceptualiced? because I had never read about this before, its not on Jeffreys book and none of my teachers said anything about this mode. Thanks a lot

This sounds like narcissistic abuse. Or blaming the victim. It feels like being accused of ‘playing the victim card’ or ‘having a pity party’. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t 😢

Would someone with this be that angry? Sounds almost like a narcissistic trait
