Cock Robin always were special and in a good way. When your heart is weak in the extended version is just epic. I could listen to it time and time again 😊
I discovered this band in the mid 80’s, My go to driving from Boston to the Cape. I wonder how you could find them now! An incredible stumble, but I hope satisfying for you! I found a performer recently that reminds me of Peter K: check out Sean K Preston, a distant cousin musically but will appeal to the same audiences, especially in Europe, where Cock Robin really thrives still.
Most underrated band ever! Brilliant songwriting, vocals and performance. No one compares. This is still great in 2018. Thanks Johnny! Love Peter Kingsbery.
this is such garage music, mono, live, you can hear the drums and both voices so pure, i like that...thats live, without any somehow... -- and you can see that the chemistry between the two somehow fits.
I will never forget this night. I was blown away by the song, the artists and the musicians. I spent the next several days trying to get the CD. And when I finally did I think I listened to it for at least a week non-stop. One of my all time favorite bands. Thank you Johnny. (And boy oh boy do I miss those days.)
No one has ever topped Peter Kingsbury for creating intellectual rock and roll. Cock Robin is the best. Have been listening to their music since being fortunate to catch this performance on the Tonight Show in 1985. Never tire of listening to their brilliant music! Thank you so much for posting this.
+Cam M. While I'd say Peter had some competition over the years (in "intellectual rock"), I have to agree that his work was just too sophisticated for most Americans. But if you live in France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, etc., he and Anna are still a solid draw. But Alanis and Brian Ferry were bigger there, as well.
Excelente... En esos tiempos era música en vivo y de verdad eran los cantantes y grupos ...sin dudas los 80s dejaron grandes grupos y grandes canciones que hasta el día de hoy nos acompañan.
I remember seeing this show. The first time I heard Cock Robin and went out the next day and bought their album. This was a fantastic album. I don't know how they weren't very well known here in the U.S. Great band !
This show started my lifetime love of Cock Robin. Peter Kingsbury is a master of writing intellectual rock lyrics. They still remain my favorite group.
I’m a fan since finding him on UA-cam. He’s 70 now. Someone should have told him his voice alone would have carried that band far!!!!!!!!! His voice hits your soul. 1-23-23.
Exactly in the same boat mate... 13 back then too 😉 been in love with her ever since... 😍 How can anyone resist that smile and those gorgeous chinese eyes...? Her talent as a singer/performer/musician is amazing, and the way she moves on that stage, is pure grace... She is absolutely magnetic...
Excelente banda, ella es increible,me encantaria haber podido estar en el lugar de el...Cock tiene tremenda voz.los temas seran eternos.Gracias por haberme echo vivir momentos inolvidables!!!!!!!!
I was hooked on them when they opened for Bryan Adams. Love this band and still do not understand why they made it big everywhere except the US. Very under rated band in my opinion.
Trying to view every available COCK ROBIN video on You Tube 30 years after their heyday. Loved them then and still convinced that Peter Kingsbery's voice was a force of nature - completely open, powerful and fearless. Ana Locazio was his perfect foil. These songs get into you and won't let go. Thank you to Peter and Ana.
Lol. I love these uploads and I hope to watch every one of them! Peter Kingsbery is one of the best vocalists ever!. Haven't seen anything this good since.
Grandes musicos, grande Peter, grande Anna y preciosa, esa mujer tiene lo que los grandes interpretes tienen cuando bailan y cantan,,, simplemente encanta
I was in the music industry back then. It was a huge deal when they got booked on The Tonight Show. People around town we're asking how did that happen, Johnny usually didn't book anybody without a top 5 hit or that wasn't some iconic long time middle of the road artist.
@@heronpage3883 whoa I would have loved to be in the music industry back then! I was still a punk kid though damn. Yeah right? How did that happen cuz they sure as hell never had even a top 40 hit here I believe. That's why it's so shocking to me! I know they did get some airplay on MTV cuz that's how I first heard "When your heart is weak', 'The promise you made' and 'Just around the corner' from their 2nd album. But I was like the only person that was into them it seemed here in Cali anyway.
Wow, finally getting around to watching this clip from Johnny Carson and can't believe they look just like kids fresh out of high school, even thou I know for a fact that they weren't, lol. I have been hooked on 'When You're Heart Is Weak' from the very first time I saw the video on MTV & was blown away with it's heat. Still to this day, it's one of the sexiest songs ever released in the USA. Damn, that Peter sure knows how to write hot lyrics. lol, always makes me sweat.
5:16 Like a cross between Bruce Campbell & Jim Carrey. Great singers, by the way. I love their albums but I’ve never seen them play live. I can understand why this band wasn’t more popular with a more mass audience. Their music is sung from a very self-aware point of view of an articulate observer. They’re like pinot noir to a platypus.
If there was ever a music act that failed to meet industry expectations (in America, anyway) =this= was the one. Maybe they were just =too= good. Europe gobbled them right up, though. One hit after another for about six years.
It was painfully "dry" acoustics,no ambiance no effects/reverb/maybe some natural undesirable delay ...my god, how did they do it so well. They are one underappreciated group. Peters voice!!!!!!!!!
Interesting choice to play ON THAT STAGE, but they nailed it!! As they always did!! Peter is so talented, and Anna only needs to be Anna, and dance and sing. My biggest 80’s music crush. Well her and Aimee Mann!! Then they play their top song on the same show, after I commented. Not changing a word typed!!
I was front row at the age of 16 when Cock Robin opened for the Kinks... Ana LaCazio was the hottest thing I've ever seen.... that was long ago and far away!
You are wrong. Listen what Johnny Carson said introducing them. "They are successful rock group seen on MTV all the time." He said that they were traveling with other big New wave bands like The kinks and other big names rock groups of that era. They were a successful U.S. rock band in the U.S. as well as over seas. Just because you didn't know about them until now, you probably wasn't even around at that time, airing on Carson. You probably wasn't even born until about 25 years ago. This is back in the '80s that you're looking at. They were big at that time and African Americans had heard of them and liked too and like their music. Research your history. If they have a large following of music on the internet in different responses of people by the millions according to their favorite songs it's because they were famous at one time and they still are. That's why they're on the internet all the time get a clue.
Excellent!! Anyone listening to this gem in 2023?
Cock Robin always were special and in a good way. When your heart is weak in the extended version is just epic. I could listen to it time and time again 😊
A great band that never found the audience it deserved.
So true
The most beautiful woman ever: ANNA LACAZIO ❤ We really miss you!

Peter Kingberry ..genius... I'm 62 now..40 years back she blew my mind

Me too.

Great great band, I love them so much. It's 2023 and their music is timeless. Peter and Anna, WOW!!
Cock Robin and Lloyd Cole are always in rotation at my house.

Always had a crush on Peter. Yes, this was a unique group of talent. How they had to depart to Europe is beyond me.
Stunning !
Peter playing a Kubicki Factor bass. About 4 grand at the time.

Urgent: Someone need to restore this video and fix the audio to this beautiful perform! Asap!
What ever happened to them? Peter was exceptional and it’s amazing the show ended too soon!
God bless Johnny Carson!!
a great sound and chemistry
JESUS! that Peter Kingsberry IS good!!!!
He is great.

Wow !!! Only God could create this on UA-cam planet 🙏
Loveyou Ana
Wow! :)
This band was so underrated ahead of their time ,I love watching anna
Partageons tous ensemble cette belle musique
complete live in such enviroment...respect!!
the sound is dry as hell.
but they are great.
It was painfully "dry" acoustics,no ambiance no effects/reverb/maybe some natural undesirable delay ...my god, how did they do it so well. They are one underappreciated group. Peters voice!!!!!!!!!
Wow, it's really playing and singing live.
I love you
❤❤❤👏👏👏🇩🇪
1:44 yeah
💯♥️
4:11 yeah Anna🤘
The bass is mixed way up but sounds great.

If I gabe you by soul for a peace your bind
Anna lacasio❤️
This is insane.
❤️❤️❤️
My godness, she was so damn hot!!
too bad we all have to get old and fade into middle age
I was front row at the age of 16 when Cock Robin opened for the Kinks... Ana LaCazio was the hottest thing I've ever seen.... that was long ago and far away!
She still is
They were great live despite the terrible dry mix in this one. A shame they weren’t allowed to show it more often on TV shows.
How long have you been waiting to utter “dry mix” as if you know what that is! LOL
Does anybody know if there still a group and playing ?
Sometimes in years 2010. Now I don't know.
Wish I knew how to upgrade the sound quality 🤔
This is obviously a very dry live.
Anybody knows who plays bass on 'When your heart is weak'?
(Prerecorded bassline?)
Niels Ohlsen He is playing bass notes with his left hand on the keyboard/synth.
What does a dry live mean?
This girl is the same from the video "Comanchero"? =V
He must have blown out his chords, to have disappeared so quickly!! Or drugs?
He's still singing,well and alive
Arno Land link please!!
They never made it in America and I still don´t know why...

Who on Earth told her she can sing!!!
God !
Indeed eh Barbie mate, man she can NOT sing!! :o)
On "worlds apart" she sing I think. Of course, Peter has a wider vocal range, but I heard worst singer than anna.
yeah, so have I , the new one, Coralie. :(
she sings great
