Its always amazing to see countries ravaged by war rebuild themselves into beautiful destinations to visit. IIRC, this very coastline was witness to terrible fighting during WW2 with the retreating Germans fighting massive advancing Russian armies. Many German units were surrounded, cut-off and either evacuated by small boats, surrended or died to the last man fighting in an ever shrinking perimeter with their backs to the Baltic. Some German units in this region were still fighting when the Russian Army took Berlin and Germany surrendered. I can't imagine the destruction this region, and Lithuiania itself suffered during this war.
I live in Kaliningrad and can't even count how many times I have crossed that border (mostly by bicycle) to visit Nida. Without accomodation but to visit Kurshis restaraunt was mandatory. Its really amazing town, not comparable with 3 villages which we have on russian side. And the whole lituanian side looks better, I mean what is done by people. The nature almost the same on both sides. Now the border is closed, visa is very hard to get. So thank you for opportunity to see Nida again. It brought me flashbacks and good memories.
Once about 35 year ago me and my friends were sitting on one of the big dunes you showed at the end. It was late night, it was dark, and we were having beer and looking at the moon above the Kuronian lagoon. One of my friends noticed that the path of light produced by the moon on the water is always directed towards you (the observer).
for those who think Lithuania is dirt cheap, well this is the Mayfair of the country. Like UK, there are cheap areas and expensive areas Those little wooden houses are extremely expensive usually over 1m euro if you can get one. It's millionaires row. The Bentley's are a giveaway as to how expensive the area actually is. A joy as always 👍
Well, only very narrow-minded people can think that Lithuania is a dirt cheap. First, it's a very clean, safe and peaceful place The country had developed tremendously in the past 5-10 years. Most people are very well-educated, speak several languages, own properties and have great quality of life.
Wow, stunning. If €30 gets me that kind of atmosphere with chilled people, then I'd pay it every time. Always good to watch and as usual, superb filming from Monika. 👍🏻🙂 Really enjoying any video's like this as we just can't travel yet due to family illness so seeing these is so good for my mood right now. Thx. Edited to add belated Happy Birthday wishes to you ☕🎉
I’m delighted you enjoyed it and I’m sending you all my best wishes for good health, Richard🙂 I’ve shared this with Monika- thank you! This was my feeling by the end of the trip- I felt perfectly happy paying the fee👌🏻
Thank you for the video, perfect way to show when inviting someone; my childhood holidays place and I started going back. After traveling to many exotic places in the world, there’s still no place like Neringa 😍
I am mesmerised by Nida. This video and your presentation was perfection as the town itself. Informative, engaging, beautiful. Now I’m going to go and enjoy your other videos. Keep up a good work!
Amazing video Freddie! Glad Monika brought you there! Curonian Spit is one of my favourite places in the entire world! Brought my Irish partner to Nida last year, he was blown away by its beauty as well! And the atmosphere there is just something else that you cannot even describe really. I would definitely suggest you to visit the following places since you're in the Curonian Spit and all of them are generally located between Nida and Juodkrantė (if Monika haven't planned it already!): Vecekrugo kopa, which is not far off Nida. Parking is a bit of an issue there, as there are simply very few spaces to park since it's literally at the main road, but once you manage to park, the walk through the beautiful forest is so brilliant and views are 110% worth it! Then the Grey Dunes (a.k.a. Dead Dunes) - these are not far from Juodkrantė. These give you Sahara Desert feel, as the sand there, as you walk to the very top of the hill, is more exposed and it's everywhere you look! Then Hill of Witches, which is in Juodkrantė. Forest packed with pagan wooden sculptures, which is a truly weird place. And finally, the Colony of Grey Herons and Great Cormorants, which is also located near Juodkrantė, a bird-destroyed forest. Plenty of stunning places conveniently packed in such a tiny strip of land!
Thank you so much Tauras- I’ve just screen shot and saved this. I’d heard of the hill of witches and really wanted to see that, but we only remembered when we were boarding the ferry🤯
Wow even more beautiful scenery! Freddie playing Badminton reminded me of when my 8 year old gets full of himself and thinks he's going to ace his 10 year old sister😄. Great stuff you two!

Not many. Cos you cant build anything new there. You can, but its so complicated, and there are so many restricrions. So wealthy chose other places where they can choose house what they want. Thats why that goden Bentley was parked next to old wooden house
Thank you for an excellent video. Stunning place. And what a refreshing experience is to watch place presented in such a respectful manner. This world needs more people like you guys.
The 30 euros fee is only during the high season, it's 10 euros in shoulder season and 5 euros in low season. It's definitely designed to keep cars off, you can come by bus, boat or bicycle instead. When it was cheaper it was much more congested. It's probably still too low, there are still quite many cars and people are spending 150 or more per night for a hotel so the fee is low in comparison.
To be honest I didn't even know the place existed. How little do I know? Beautiful, and I can well understand why it is so popular. Every day is a school day. Kaliningrad was on our radar until recent events unfolded. Very sadly. Good viewing with my first caffeine injection. Thanks for sharing 👍

@@ihavegreeneyes14 Exactly, it's for keeping cars out, NOT people: cyclists, pedestrians and those coming by bus don't have to pay anything at the tollbooth. It's a car tax. What a silly thing to say anyway, Ingrida is probably one of those people who identify with their car. For them, car not allowed equals I'm (and therefore "people") not allowed. Which will make it easier and easier in time to come FOR FREE without needing a car the way you still probably need one now to be comfortable. Not so dystopian-exclusionary after all, huh.

Really interesting Freddie and nice to see somewhere we never knew even existed. Do you every feel like you are the UA-cam version of the ‘Truman Show’ and we’re all watching you do you thing!! Keep it up, great content as usual😉
Hey, I'm from Lithuania and when I went to Nida I used public transport so I did not have to pay any 30 euro fee, so yeah, just a tip. Anyways, loved the video!
Happy birthday Monika (a bit behind the times). I'm not surprised that it costs €30 to take your car to Nida. The place is well kept and very scenic so well worth the trip. Despite one or 2 Ladas the rest of the vehicles seemed very expensive so I wonder what they natives work at to earn that kind on money.
Well, it's probably been decades since the last of those fishermen's homesteads have been inhabited by actual local fishermen. The people who live there probably aren't local, and probably earn their living founding unicorns in the capital. Or it could just be Russian oligarchs, you never know (any Hearts of Midlothian fans?). Some have already been busted owning property on the Lithuanian seaside after the latest round of EU personal sanctions, and it was immediately confiscated to house Ukrainian refugees.
Thanks John, from Monika🎂🙂 Great to hear the insight from Kerstas and Pijus too- thank you. Vilnius has an extremely dynamic fintech/tech start up sector- there are a huge amount of these companies here in the capital and there’s a lot of money here in Vilnius, so this’ll spill over to Nida without question🙂
Wow stunning , 30 euros is worth it As someone has said the charge is to limit numbers so it does not get overcrowded as well as generating income for area I would never imagined places like this existed in Lithuania. I don’t expect it gets many uk tourists Thanks for sharing Freddie
The UK is technically among Lithuania's top sources of inbound tourists, but I'd expect some non-insignificant part of the UK number to consist of the 300k Lithuanians living in the UK (more than 10% of the country) coming back to visit their parents, so you're probably right.
It’s very interesting hearing the different languages spoken in different regions. Vilnius, for example; a gigantic amount of Russian speakers, but in Nida there were a lot of English speakers (and also American accent English speakers) because I’m guessing a huge amount of Lithuanians who relocated to the UK and the US come to Nida for their summer holidays.
Actually a long time ago our port city of Klaipeda and Nida mostly was lived by Prussians, then later on these territories were taken by Germany until 1919, it's easy to recognize German housing architecture in Nida, houses with carvings in roof are German style, even tho we have new housings in Nida, they still retain some sort of german architecture, mostly is the German style roofing.
Another beautiful place, 30 Euros seems OK these days especially as they keep the place so clean and tidy. I can't think why you would want to come back to the UK. Great video as always you two 👍

Really interesting Freddie and nice to see somewhere we never knew even existed. Do you every feel like you are the UA-cam version of the ‘Truman Show’ and we’re all watching you do you thing!! Keep it up, great content as usual😉
Looks like a amazing place. Keep up the good work guys. And happy belated birthday monika 🎂🎉🎈
Hey, I'm from Lithuania and when I went to Nida I used public transport so I did not have to pay any 30 euro fee, so yeah, just a tip. Anyways, loved the video!
Good job ! Thanks I enjoyed watching
luv the freddie missing the shuttlecock lol
Wow, finally catching up on your travels. Looks an amazing place and video graphics were amazing. Thanks for sharing and safe travels. Loved it.
The pine trees also protect against wind erosion.
Those "ladas" fully restored cost more then 2013 audi or a bmw.
(Moskvich).
Thanks John, from Monika🎂🙂
Great to hear the insight from Kerstas and Pijus too- thank you.
Vilnius has an extremely dynamic fintech/tech start up sector- there are a huge amount of these companies here in the capital and there’s a lot of money here in Vilnius, so this’ll spill over to Nida without question🙂
Love little geography lesson you two! Love all your fun facts!!
Thank you🙂🙌🏻
Wow stunning , 30 euros is worth it
As someone has said the charge is to limit numbers so it does not get overcrowded as well as generating income for area
I would never imagined places like this existed in Lithuania. I don’t expect it gets many uk tourists
Thanks for sharing Freddie
Not Prussians, Curonians
Ahhhhh fascinating- I was wondering about this! I also felt Klaipeda felt quite Germanic too🇩🇪
Amazing place! Would be great on the bike 👍🏻
Another beautiful place, 30 Euros seems OK these days especially as they keep the place so clean and tidy. I can't think why you would want to come back to the UK. Great video as always you two 👍
I did fairly quickly come round to the price after seeing how much effort the local council went to, to make everything so pleasant🙂👌🏻
