In the end she didnt need a powerful hero, just an honest person that cared about her.
yup. It was never a knight in shining armor, riding in to save her and claim to be 'that person', which she needed. Just one half-burnt, soot-faced, puny little human genuine enough to care about her.
Nah, more than that, she needed someone to tell her she was wrong. A lot of people probably cared for her during those 400 years and tried to be that person. But it was only Subaru that told Beatrice she didn't need that person and instead ask her to be that one for him.

Honestly this is one of the cruelest things Echidna has ever done. "That person" doesn't exist. It was always up to Beatrice to choose who "that person" was but even after 400 years she hadn't figured it out. Echidna just wanted to see what she would do.
I donβt know if cruel is the right way to put it, i see where youβre coming from but i see it as a necessary lesson from βmotherβ to daughter. Its just a unfortunate situation
@@BB-qh2uy idk think it was necessary since in the end it was useless and she abandoned her goals of finding βthat personβ

@@Smaug555 exactly.

Somethings wrong I can feel it
The thing is Subaru could have lied and still gotten the same outcome, but he didn't want to trample on her feelings he wanted to accept her for she is and for her to do the same with Subaru.
Yeah, saying he was that person would've made Beatrice live only for Subaru. He doesn't want that, it would be fine for a while, but what would happen when Subaru dies, Beatrice would be left alone with no reason to live.
Only on the surface level would the outcome be the same, but deep down she'd still be as lost as before. This arc is about self-reliance - facing uncertainty on your own terms and not expecting everything to just be laid out in front of you like a set of instructions. Beatrice has to defy her gospel to be truly free of it. Subaru rejects the idea of "They" so that Beatrice can choose to live on her own terms, not Echidna's.
Our boy grow up so much! Long with everyone else. Look at Emilia , Ram , Garfiel , Otta etc.
Eh, I don't know about that. That would imply that Subaru totally knew what he was doing. I think that he was just being an idiot and wasn't thinking. If it meant getting her out of that mansion, I think lying to her initially would've been the best bet. He would've been trampling over her feelings, but she wouldn't be dead at the end of the day and he can try to fix things after everything calms down. I just don't imagine that Subaru would actually take the most risky moment of his entire life, with the mansion burning down, two killers in the mansion with mabeasts surrounding them, the Sizable Hare approaching Sanctuary, and decide that now would be the best time to try and get a perfect win with Beatrice. I'm pretty sure that Subaru was just too stupid to even consider it. Either too stupid or too frantic.
@@Croach193 it was a bit of a snap decision on his behalf when he initially rejected her, but it came from the heart- subaru honestly wanted beatrice to choose for herself to leave, aware of the power accepting change in yourself can bring you from his own experiences, and so he denied the easy way out reflexively because that was ultimately the wrong choice, even if circumstances made it the risker move

yes, its manly to shed a tear in this episode
Fun fact: A piece of cut content this episode is that when Beatrice throws him out, he encounters a mindless, mutilated Elsa chasing after him. She eventually gets killed, though.
Omgosh that's freaky
It served to add a lot more tension to the scene of Subaru finding Beatrice. She couldnβt walk or talk so she just screamed and crawled around like a monster.
I kept expecting this to show up, but Iβll have to forgive them since theyβre so limited on screen time to use. I really want to see that though! She was supposed to get blasted away by the final door he opened, right?
I can understand them cutting it but I would have loved to see that. Her getting burned up in the backdraft of flames from Subaru opening that door was really cool.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how much smoke Subaru must have inhaled when he was searching for the library and talking to Beatrice?
The books make this scene all the more dramatic in that way. Subaru shows up at the library burnt, soot-covered, with fractured bones, and exhausted from moving through fire, smoke, and falling objects just to get to her, not to mention all the times she pushed him out.
@@mgh7634 What a madlad Chad our boi has become.
There's so much to this moment, this would've never happened if Subaru wasn't so honest, he managed to get her out without any lies or fake promises, she must've felt like the most loved person in the whole world for a second, and i really hope she gets to smile now since she found someone that cares about her at this point
That is Subaru's greatest strength as a character. He's not some OP swordsman, not super strong, or a badass sorcerer. Hell he's barely even competent at day to day living. But his unfailing sincerity and empathy enables him to stand among heroes and giants. Turns out sometimes to be a hero, all you need is a big heart and a stubborn will not to give up on people.
And it pays off. This is the beginning of Subaru's arguably closest relationship. He and Betty may not share any romantic dispositions toward one another, but the love they share is every bit as immeasurable, sacred, and intimate. They are from this day forth family in all but blood, as symbiotically and inextricably bound as Emilia and Puck. Seriously it's one of the most blessed and wholesome things in the entire story.
I guess that's one of the reasons that makes me like this show so much, every single character has it's own special moment, and they just make it look like all of them are important, everyone is overcoming their fears and actually trying to do something about it, and all because of Subaru, i don't care what ppl say, i love this man

Subaru is the perfect example of a charisma: 1-speech 100 character built Iβve ever seen.
I dunno man, I think he's definitely got some charisma for people to keep believing in him in times of need.
Subaru is growing. I'd say when he showed up in this world and was a lot more ignorant and inconsiderate, he was charisma 1. After he gets over himself, he becomes a whole LOT better. There's definitely an element of charm to the man after that and going forward (season 3 covering arc 5 is gonna display this especially). When people can get past the annoying exterior he sometimes puts on, it doesn't take long for them to like him.
But then I don't think it was charisma he needed here. Just enough brazen sincerity to push through a little girl's fear of abandonment. And if there's anything Subaru has, it's big, stupid, honest sincerity, in spades.

Yeah people keep thinking she loves him romantically and keep hearkening back to that "put me first" line and Subaru talking about the women that are 1 and 2 in his heart, and I think folks just don't get it. It's not about first, second, third, or who's five-thousandth on a tier list of how much he loves people, it's not about romance.
Betty's "put me first" line is more her just asking not to be abandoned, to be seen as 'less than important' compared to something else and thrown away like everyone else in her life has done in some form or capacity. And as for her 'place' in his heart. There is no number and no competition. She carves a spot all her own in the same way his parents have, in the same way Emilia and Rem have, and the same way Puck has for Emilia. Subaru may be more romantically in love with Emilia than Rem, but that doesn't mean he rates how much he loves everyone in his life on some gradient or pie chart, which is why that whole debate just gets asinine.

Some see him killing her as a mercy, but I strongly disagree. Beatrice never truly wished to die-- she just didn't want to be alone, and the only comfort Wrath IF Subaru offers is a blade. And in Greed IF, she's so destroyed after what happens and he never manages to repair that relationship, too busy 'saving' everyone to ever let them save themselves or grow. Both are terrible especially when you realize how close him and Beako do get along the canon path and how much they come to lean on and love each other. She could have been that light that saved him and instead he either buries it... or burns it out.
How nice of the fire to wait for them to finish their conversation.
Wasn't that cracking thing a barrier?
@@gabrielnassimbeni5622 Definitely not. I'm pretty sure that was a sign of the Forbidden Library breaking down or something since Subaru got ejected by it.
I think .. I think I'm watching a ... what you call it, yes a masterpiece.
I freaking like this show
I cried when I read this scene in the WN and Iβm crying when I finally get to see the scene animated
I'm gonna miss the Re Zero Wednesday π
this bit had me bawling could so relate to how Beatrice felt
I believed season 2 part 2 wouldn't be better than part 1 but boy was I wrong
Hands down best moment of the season
βthe value of lifeβ was peak asf also
This is exactly why Subaru is heads and shoulders above almost every single isekai protag out there.
This show never misses man.
This is enough to make a man like me cry. Beako has come a long way for this moment and it was beautiful to watch π₯²
oh how much beatrice has changed, in a good way, in season 2, she no longer seems as much of a robot
I love this show, hope season 3 gets announced sooner rather then later
yup this is my favorite scene in the entire series
Chadbaru going HAM in this season of Goat:Zero, my goodness.
Goat:Zero
Well one thing is sure, after this season Subaru is definitely on his way to become one of the best protagonists ever.
