Season 1 Subaru: Dies to everything, whines about his pride and insecurities.
Season 2 Subaru: Still dies to most things, accepts that he isn't all THAT.
Season 2 ending Subaru: Is able to cast a number of spells and helps defeat a Great Mabeast. Takes pride in helping others and accepts that even with revival he can't do everything alone.

Thats because he’s using Beatrice in order to cast those spells. If he uses her as a medium then he’s able to cast them.
Edit: due to Subaru damaging his Gate in Arc 2 and it was still healing but overused it when fighting Garfiel making it completely damaged. If he doesn’t have a contracted spirit to absorb the mana, he will die from Mana poisoning. But there is a way to restore a defective gate, I think the original Roswaal had a defective gate and Echidna was able to fix it.

Subaru went from trying to be a hero into an actual hero so fast and Emilla got way stronger as well character development for a lot of people this season
In other people's POV, he defeated the white whale, the sin archbishop of sloth, and the great rabbit in a span of two weeks.

@@kadeemheron5041 they used all of Beatrice’s 400 years of mana reserves so after this fight the duo are nerfed considerably. Now it takes all of Subaru’s daily reserves to keep her corporeal from day to day.
Yeah, I think Subaru is probably the most satisfying protagonist out of all anime I have ever watched in a sense that there is not a single person where i have the feeling deserved their power as much as Subaru does

That “Al Shamac” gave me chills, due to my curiosity, I knew of the spell, and I knew Beatrice knew it, but I didn’t know when it was used, so I was pretty hyped
I knew the spell existed from season 1 and I knew how it took a lot of magic, so it got me excited when I saw it used.
Season 1 ep 1 is the saame spell that open a crack on subaru world (then the shadow handpull him through it. At that time he wasnt able to see them by the way)
This show definitely deserve a season 3

I remember in the web novel Subaru asked where she sent the rabbits. Beatrice told him that she doesn't know and that it's another dimension's problem now I suppose. Would be a dark twist if the rabbits got isekai'd to Japan 😯.

Subaru is actually the most OP character in this show
1. He is the MC
2. He runs faster than thousands of rabbits
3. He speaks so loud that his voice projects louder than a storm and thousand of rabbit noise
4. He is simultaneously running and talking at insane levels
1) It doesn't make him any OP,
2) Top tiers like Reinhard are crossing continents in seconds. Reinhard jumped from moon in vol19, there is kinda big difference in speeds, don't you think?

So 2/3 of the Great Mabeasts have been defeated the only one that’s left is the Black Serpent
I'm anime only, but I'm pretty sure the white rabbit is still alive. Al shamac sent all the rabbits to an isolated space where nothing else exists other than them. The rabbits will forever multiply, nobody how much they eat each other they will still stay in the isolated space. So no, only the white whale is truly defeated
@@dezpez4701 if you’re talking about whether theyre dead or not, then you’re correct. however, being defeated is a different story. the rabbits cannot die off as they infinitely multiply, but they can never come back to the original dimension since beatrice sealed them off with al shamac. in that sense, they are defeated, so the great serpent is really the only Great Mabeast left in the world
And the Black Serpent is hella strong
His Venom alone is dangerous and we haven’t even seen him

@@dezpez4701 i think the great rabbit wont infinitely multiply in the other dimension because it goes against its nature. the great rabbit eats any living thing around it but if it is isolated it will resort to cannibalism to satiate its hunger. That is why you see the rabbits eating one another because at that point they are in an isolated space and they need to keep on eating so they ate themselves.
Yes, fight was longer and more detailed in the novels (though that applies to every fight in Rezero). This was still satisfying. The only way to fix this would be for Kadokawa to approve longer seasons (which are rare) and not give White Fox a short schedule (which IS their fault: they’re a bad company).
Re zero is such a masterpiece man. One of the best animes I have ever watched. Hopefully we get Season 3 in the next 3 years 😩
Unlike after season one there is still a lot of material left to adapt. So I think we can be optimistic :D

I loved this fight being animated. Subaru being badass is really satisfying. When season 3 comes we will see more of his badass moments.
We will also see the one of the rarest events in ReZero. I wont spoil it, but its something that was supposed to be impossible if I recall correctly.

Since I saw someone asking why the rabbits weren’t nuked by someone a long time ago:
There are VERY few people capable of that and even less willing to do it. That also requires locating and getting to them (which in itself requires a competent group of people). The world is big. They could be anywhere. They also move between kingdoms, which makes destroying them MUCH more difficult considering the politics of the world.
I like how Emilia has superior hearing abilities; She heard Subaru from a couple hundred meters away.
Well she is an elf. Elves are super strong in so many aspects and are basically the strongest humanoid race

Unfortunately the kingdom didn’t acknowledged the great rabbit defeat because there is no proof that they were defeated (no body=no evidence), the kingdom did say if there is no more activity from the rabbits within a decade then they will acknowledge it lol

I'm sorry this ain't Kimetzu no Yaiba levels of animation but it's still great animation and an incredible amount of work that no other series has ever gotten the same level of love

Did we watch the same show? Arc 4 is certainly better than everything in Arcs 1-3, however, the animation quality, soundtrack and sound design of this second season (and this 2nd cour in particular) was a noticeable step down from season 1. It seems like all the good staff left to go work on Mushoku Tensei. Arc 4>Arc1-3 but season 1 is still better than season 2. I hope they step it up again for season 3.

In a way - this is a poetic end for the Great Rabbit. Subaru died gruesomely to it, but sending it to another dimension is karmic retribution. All the rabbits can do is prey on each other and the hive mind eventually starves to death pitifully.
It wont even starve to death it would forever eat itself and reproduce infinitely which fits more for the end of the great Rabbit
I wouldn't exactly call it karmic since the Great Rabbit wasn't malicious at all. The rabbits exist solely to devour everything they see, it's in their nature.
Would you consider locusts evil for devouring large areas of crops that would otherwise be used to feed thousands? Sure, they might be responsible for several dying of starvation, but it wasn't like the locust were doing it with evil intent.

This scene was so crazy but one of the best fight scenes in re zero
To summarize this whole scene in one sentence. Subaru and his friends made the rabbits resort to cannibalism while being locked up in a rift between space/time.

Those little rabbits would’ve devoured all existence because nothing could’ve stopped them. And the whole reasoning behind them is that they could’ve been a food source but since they were designed by gluttonous entity. they were also extremely gluttonous, andaand voracious hunters.

Pretty much yeah. Although the time travel aspect is probably going to be rather limited though since you can only time travel at most a few days using Shadow Magic.
